The food is always good and consistent. Variety of soups and other food items on the menu. One of the places we go where we don't always get the same thing because there are a lot of good things. Very nice draft beer selection and respectable bottled spirits. Elizabeth Ann is a bartender who is as good as I have experienced. She is attentive and on top of things. Watching her behind the bar you can tell she takes her job seriously and genuinely gives a darn. Everyone could use more like her. Arrived about 6PM on a Thursday; wait time was already 30 minutes. Waited 25min and was seated in a booth close to the bar and kitchen access(load and lots of traffic including server conversations). Ordered drinks. Nice selection of craft beers as well as traditional brews. Ordered a "specialty drink--Rat Pack Manhattan" which after a period of time our server apologized for the delay. Not sure if anyone new how to make it. It was tasty when it finally arrived. Our order was the fish and chips-haddock was a little off, but edible and a large portion fillet; and the Chicago style dog and side of onion rings. The dog is as close to "Chicago" as you'll get. The relish wasn't nuclear green and is a little more dill, and not sure if the dog is kosher or not but really good and true to form poppy seed bun. We had a family dinner there Monday June 1. We were able to sit outside and Cody was our waiter. First, Cody was spot on with everything we ordered. Great service! Our food: Appetizers-we had avocado fries(they were okay-need a little spice), pretzels and fries with onions and sauerkraut(all good) Dinner: We had the Fish bowl(delicious), Fish and Chips, Chicken and Waffles, Quesadilla and Boneless chicken bowl. The avocado egg rolls were delicious! I had the chicken and waffles for my meal which was too sweet in my opinion (there was added sugar on the waffles or something), though still delicious. Okay here's the buzz on the new place in centerville. .. Loved the atmosphere bar area with full bar and at least 28 drafts on tap.. Bar stools cushy for your tushy. TV tuned to all current sports games. Love the graffiti floor to the restrooms. Staff seemed a little overwhelmed when it started to get busy noticed a table near by waiting for quite a time. Our waitress was great food served hot and steamy and was checked on several times. Now for the food: tried two burgers that are thier specialty. Double burgers one with cheese mustard split coney dog and coney sauce. The other topped in cheese grilled onions and coney sauce..both on a fresh brioche bun. They were both very good..the coney sauce was Greek style meaty and tasty. All sides are ala carte. Sampled sweet potato fries and onion rings..they were ok dipping sauce for onion rings good. Think I'll try tater tots next time. Will come back and try a coney..staff will hopefully be more broke in..gotta give um a chance!! Wow we loved everything we had here. Fish bowl was outstanding and super fresh. Homemade cheese sauce is a must for fries!

The F.R. has some nice seating areas. We know they exist because we've sat in them. They also have a not so inviting area -the Dead Zone or No Mans Lands. It's this off the beaten path, but not really, because it's right beside the entry door and a hop and a trip from the hostess station and it has a not so scenic view out the window of the not so scenic parking lot. It's just one of those areas that when the hostess takes you to be seated your heart sinks a bit but you don't want to be an ungrateful guest so you don't say what's on your mind which is, "it's a Monday night, the place is barely half full. Do we have been seated in the wasteland"? What a crappy place to sit. While we were eating our meal at our, -outside the city gates - table, another couple was brought over to no mans land and shone the lonely empty table parallel to ours. I couldn't believe what I heard and saw. The patrons were so rude to the hostess. How dare they question her seating prowess. They asked if could they be seated elsewhere, anywhere but here. Promptly they were taken to other side of the tracks -the heart of the action. I wished I were them. It's kind of weird how a bad seating assignment in a restaurant that I've frequented and liked on other occasions actually makes the food taste worse and definitely makes the experience worse. I ask the management, Why do you have this crummy, non interesting, uncomfortable (uncomfortable because the cushioned bench I was on was about six inches lower than the chair my wife sat on across the table. Felt like my chin was on the table the whole time. And oh, there was of course a ceiling air duct connected straight to Iceland blowing down on us) seating area? It would be much better served as a shuffle board court. Why why, why? Don't you know that when you stick people in these barf zones that you lose customers and then they write mediocre reviews of their poor dining experience at your place. Been here several times and think were done. This evening before entering, loud 80's rock was playing like a bad Jazzercize class and someone must have said something because after 15 minutes the volume was clearly turned down. I think the music may be popular with the workers, because the middle aged and up crowd probably didn't like this music in the 1980's. A previous visit served me an undrinkable Bloody Mary and the bartender is so cranky that asking for a redo was scary. I know times are tough with finding people to work, but this place isn't working for us any longer. read more

We went here and sat outside and when the waitress came to ask what we'd like to drink, we asked there were any beer specials and she told us no. So we both ordered our domestic beers as usual. Then another couple came and sat outside, and asked a different waiter if they had any beer specials, and he told them yes, $2 domestics. So when our bill came, we were charged the regular price of $3.50 a beer. My husband went inside to pay and ask why we were charged differently, and we were told there were no specials. They wouldn't change it either. We found this unacceptable to be charged differently than another patron. The manager came out and refused to change it. We know $3 isn't much but it's the principle!!! Too bad!! We'll tell everyone we know about this unacceptable event!!! Plus, another table showed up while we were there with two large dirty looking, non service dogs. The one kept crying while we ate. We've eaten here a few times. The food was good and the waitress was attentive. I had the potato soup and salad.

We are a family of 5 with 3 little boys and this place was great for all of us. They have happy hour ON FRIDAY, with $5 signature cocktails, app specials and a burger special that came with a craft beer! The kids loved their food and for dessert we had ice cream blended with Bill's Donut holes. Win/win. Our service was fantastic and we only waited 15 minutes on a Friday. This place does not disappoint. The food is consistently great and the service is equally good. We have been several times and have tried many items on the menu. The most memorable of the items we have tried are the disco tots and their boneless wings (both naked and breaded). We have ordered food to go and it tastes just as good at home! Nicely laid out restaurant. Nice decor, wide variety of beer, wasn't too loud and not a tv on every wall. Had fish tacos, the famous style tots and the famous coney. Food was prepared at a decent speed and was delicious. Coney was gigantic and tacos had great flavor. Tots had generous amount of toppings. City restaurant is in was in a water advisory due to tornadoes so they had bottled water and canned sodas that they didn't charge for. Server wasn't too bad and the prices were great. Service was poor tonight. We were seated outside in the covered area. It took a good 10 minutes or so for our waitress to take our drink order. Drinks were brought then our food order was taken. Our food came then our waitress totally forgot us. All the tables around us had more attentive wait staff. No drink refills were offered, and again an excessive wait for our bill. I got the attention of another waitress and a manager brought us our bill. Food was what is expected for this price range, and they did get our order right. The service however was poor. I absolutely love this place! The waitress was so sweet and helpful. We sat outside and it was our first time! Although, my friend had raves about this place for a good year! My son ordered their BBQ bacon burger on a pretzel bun with fries on the side. He said it was absolutely one of the best burgers he's ever eating, and my kid isn't easy to impress. I ordered their wedge salad and it was VERY good! I then saw one of my very good friends out on the patio that I hadn't seen in a long time. She came over and brought me the rest of her avocado rolls! Omg.... thank god I didn't order them cause the 3 she had left over was more than enough to get me full! They were amazing! First-time diner at The Famous last evening. I'll lead with the positives: 1. An attentive, congenial server. Thank you, Phil. 2. Fried avocado appetizer was excellent. 3. Menu items reasonably priced, competitive for this area. Now, the flip side with negatives: 1. No two-top tables, so a deuce has to wait as long as a party of four to be seated. 2. Food meant to be served hot, e.g., Disco Fries, was served cold. This is rather surprising because, and this is the third thumbs-down remark, 3. the number of expediters who descended on our table with food orders was overwhelming. No fewer than four with lots of harried call-outs regarding "Who has the hambuger, who has the sloppy joe, etc. Annoying. Let the server who knows who ordered what do exactly that; place the plates rather than a free-for-all serving style. 4. Iceberg lettuce. In an age of heightened awareness for nutrition as well as flavor, no dark leafy greens are present in The Famous' salads. Unappealing and disappointing. Also on the topic of salads, the bleu cheese salad dressing tastes like ranch dressing with bleu cheese crumbles in it. Odd. If the owners were new to the restaurant business, I'd be more forgiving. But these are fairly seasoned veterans who've sustained decent trade in their other operations. The Famous is not without possibility for success, but it will require a great many changes to maintain a presence in a location where a number of others have failed. read more

We went to this restaurant last night. I ordered the Wiz-Wit and it was very good. But my fiancee ordered grilled chicken wings and tater tots. They both came out cold. She did not request them to cook a new order just to warm them up, and when they came back out the wings were still cold. The waitress took forever to come back and check and see if our food was okay and I was done eating before she even received her food back. Another thing I did not like was that you do not get fries or chips with your sandwiches. You have to order these separate, so I ordered potato salad and it was a $4 ad on for a small side. I really really wanted to love The Famous, but they have some work to do before they can live up to the hype. That said, I think they have the right pieces in place, but they also have the curse of this location working against them. Speaking of the hype...the staff seems a bit overwhelmed with the heavy crowds which continue to stream in. Of course I think most people are seeing if it is at least as good as Doubledays. As far as the food goes, we absolutely loved the avocado fries, which were unique enough to capture my attention on the extensive 2-sided menu. The remainder of our sampling (whiz wit philly, wedge salad, quesadilla and boneless wings) seemed right at home at Applebee's (not really a compliment.) This review serves as a first-pass of sorts and I am almost certain that I'll be able to return in a few months and add a star. read more

The food is unique it's definitely good for a change they do not allow you to call in a to go order or at least didn't the last time I tried which is kind of strange they said they don't have the ability which clearly is not true.
