I recently got 2 pairs of glasses at The Eye Store (progressive lenses and computer glasses). John was really helpful picking out frames, and he found frames that I really liked in a shape that I wouldn't have tried on otherwise. Also, between the time of the order and when the lenses came in, he got another color in the same frames that he thought would be better - and he switched the frames for the new color right then. Everything went very smoothly, and he was clearly very knowlegable. The prices seem competitive, or even a bit better, than other stores in the area. read more

John is a living, breathing example of exceptional customer service. You'll get an great experience and feel confident with your purchase because you're in such good hands. There's a reason they have such a high rating. When I called them to make an appointment I also asked if they would adjust a pair of sunglasses I got as a gift. John said I could bring them by for adjustment even if I didn't buy anything from them. That's how I knew I wanted to give them my business. Highly recommend checking them out. read more

No complaints at all. Though renovated on my second visit in two years, the charm is still there. John was very helpful in giving me potentially options based only on a short description of my previous glasses in what felt like record time. Not only can I see but I feel great with a sturdy set of glasses. read more

I had a great experience here. Eye appointments start at 10 am. I made an appointment very easily and the next day my appointment started right on time. I already had a copy of my eyeglass and contact prescriptions which expedited the process. Dr. Richard was very informative and helped me with prescription troubles immensely! I am very happy with my experience here. The prices are very reasonable and the quality of service is amazing! read more

John has been terrific. I have a strong astigmatism which makes the crafting of my progressive lenses challenging. While the new glasses I got at The Eye Store were fine for mid/long range, at home I discovered that they were not at all sharp when reading my computer screens, which I spend many hours a day on. *For no additional fee* John made me a pair of computer-only glasses which are perfect. Very impressive and much appreciated! read more

John provides exceptional service. It is clear he cares about his customers: he literally goes out of his way for them. He is also patient and friendly- you'll enjoy working with him. Highly recommend! read more

The owner, John, could not be nicer! He was planning to be closed on Christmas Eve, but opened the store to help my husband who had fallen and broken his glasses. The shop is a bit of a drive for us (more than worth it) so a couple years ago he dropped my finished glasses off at my house because he said it was on his way. Just so nice, and so helpful. He carries a large selection of frames and goes out of his way to help you find ones that you like. Highly recommend! read more

Great new look to a great place with a nice selection. I dealt with John and he could not have been friendlier ( what's he doing in Boston? jk). When I came in for some lenses and I wanted x, y and z to them, he was very accomodating to me and he helped me out on the price which I thought no one could really anymore because most places have a small profit margin, etc. Anyways, go see John. Very nice guy and I liked the fact that you get actual service. read more

John, the owner, is friendly and knowledgeable. He helped me pick out great new glasses (which came with a magnetic sunglass lenses ) and offered to switch out the lenses in my old glasses at a great price to use as a spare. You don't find this kind of customer service at the chain eye glass stores! read more

Truly outstanding. We have been on the hunt for new sunglasses for a while and decided to check it out. I will never buy sunglasses or glasses anywhere else again. John was beyond engaging, helpful and knowledgeable. If you wear glasses, contacts or sunglasses, do yourself a favor and go here. As a long-time glasses wearer, the customer service and wide selection was better than any glasses store I've been to previously. read more

I would give The Eye Store and its friendly and professional owner, John Bejakian, more than five stars if I could. John has furnished all manner of my eyewear needs, including progressive and transitional lenses, sunglasses, sports goggles and reading glasses. He provides outstanding service and always overdelivers on the finishing time. This is a wonderful local neighborhood store. I highly recommend going to John! read more

This is the best experience I have ever had getting glasses. I wanted a smaller local store, rather than a chain and I loved what I found in the Eye Store. John was friendly, helpful and enthusiastic about helping me find the right frames for my face - and my personality. We found several pairs that looked great; then it was a matter of picking one. The whole process took less than a half hour - including him applying my insurance to the price. The glasses (progressive lenses) were done a day or two before he promised, so I had them in under a week and they look great!! It was actually fun. The price was reasonable and the experience pleasant. I brought my husband in to get his prescription sunglasses and he had an equally pleasant experience, and at an excellent price, compared to where he looked before. I highly recommend The Eye Store. It is convenient, John is friendly and helpful, and the store is not busy -- in fact I was the only customer in the store. Support your local businesses!!! read more

I would like to say that John is very professional, extremely helpful! If I could give him 10, I would. I'm from out of town and my sister had lost her glasses and she just couldn't be without her glasses and I called around other places and all of them told me it would take 1 week and that wouldn't work. As she was leaving on Sunday. I called the eye store, I spoke to John and he came to our rescue!! He worked on her glasses within 20 minutes and she left extremely happy and satisfied!!! Thank you again, John! Muchas gracias!! From Sandra and Amanda. read more

After the most horrific customer service experience at a local LensCrafters (please see my review), I was looking for a local shop that cuts lenses in-house. This is harder to find than you might think and it really matters. I called The Eye Store to confirm they still did this and spoke to John. He was amazing and totally understood my concerns. He asked for a copy of my prescription and was able to order the lenses overnight. I stopped by the next day and he cut the lenses in less than half an hour. The glasses look great and the price was reasonable. I highly recommend this shop -- I would give ten stars if I could. You can tell they have a lot of returning customers. Communication is great. I will be recommending the Eye Store to everyone I know who wears and cares about their eyeglasses. read more

Easy to see why this shop gets such good reviews. Adding to those, even though I wound up purchasing elsewhere (was looking for very specific style). I wound up going to a dozen stores in the Boston area and this one really stood out. Welcoming atmosphere (vs. a few high-end places that tell you what you want and act like they're doing you a big favor)...good selection...terrific prices. John was very helpful, really heard what I wanted, and had a good eye for which pairs suited me. He was incredibly friendly to customers of all ages while I was in the shop. Totally won me over for next time! read more

Wonderful store who took extra time to make sure my contact lens fit well, especially since I had previous eye concerns. I went there several times before finding the right fit. Very friendly staff who value customer satisfaction. Have recommended friends to this place and will continue to do so. read more

I was at witts end thinking I could not find John...I went to Yelp looked at the best possible rating for eyeglasses....when I called I swore it was the same man John who helped me previously when I went to Central Square Cambridge, Ma...but how could it be??? It was!! The same young sweet man that had helped me!! I am beyond excited to see John own his own shop here in Brookline!! Customer for life!! You can NOT get any better. read more

The owner goes out of his way to make a customer comfortable. Would highly recommend this place.

A good store. The manager is warm-hearted and he fixed my glasses for free with a high efficiency. :D The eye glasses in this store are beautiful as well. read more

It was refreshing to shop for new prescription eyewear at the Eye Store. The owner's expertise and precision, warmth and love for optometry made this an exceptional experience. After years of frustration with chain vision stores from the extended waiting periods for my prescriptions to be ready to their reluctance to make small frame adjustments needed over time, I sought out the Eye Store after reading yelp reviews. My eyeglasses were ready in just over a week. This was quite the contrast from the past which ranged from 3-6 weeks. Jon is also skillful in gently widening the type of frames I would consider. I absolutely love my frames and would not have found them if left to my own devices. read more

Let me preface this by saying the Eye Store does not accept VSP vision insurance. I was torn between going to a store with insurance coverage or not. The selection of stores that accept VSP is very limited. It bothered me upon further research that a significant amount of these stores had bad reviews; either there was a limited selection of frames, customer service was piss poor, or the store looked very dated. To be honest, the Eye Store looked dated from their facade. Their yelp reviews though were outstanding regarding the staff's friendliness. Streak of 5 stars. Spoke to Gary over the phone and he told me their eye exam for glasses ($35 normally) is waived if you purchase glasses through them and they offer discounts. He reassured me they try to keep their prices very reasonable/competitive as those offered with insurance coverage. He offered to give me a quote for my glasses if I knew the strength of my current glasses prescription (which I didn't). I took a gamble and set up an appointment with them given his pleasant disposition over the phone. Pros: (+) Eye exam was quick. Took no more than 15-20 mins. (+) Free eye exam indeed if you purchase their frames (+) Richard Montross, the optometrist, was refreshing. He mentioned I didn't really need to change my current glasses with the state of my vision. I had to in fact push that I wanted to do business with them because my current pair is 4 years old. Absolutely no one here is pushy. (+) They have a large selection of frames if you're not into the big brand name stuff with high markups. Contrary to the old facade, they have a decent selection of modern trends. A good mix of plastic and metal frames, thick or thin. No retroness there. You're free to browse around. Gary and Richard are just sitting at their desks computer surfing and leaves you alone to merrily browse through their selections. Cons: (-) The store interior and facade itself is really old. I was stepping back into the 80's. I've passed by this store many times and obliviously never noticed the place. (-) Their examination room is very tiny. There's a rusty sink in there. The chair looks 20 years old. It does not feel sanitary for that reason. My previous pair of glasses was ~$400 together with the eye exam. My new pair here with the free eye exam was $310. $165 for the frame, $200 for the lens, 15% discount. As long as it wasn't as expensive as my last pair, I'm happy. I am aware there are much cheaper options elsewhere like online and Costco. My personal belief are glasses should be an investment if you're wearing it every hour you're awake. I want it to last a long time (clearly my last pair did). Costco doesn't have much frame selections. With the online world, there's a whole cloud of uncertainty about how it's going to come out.. Ain't nobody got time for that. At the end of the day, I like to support independent businesses as well. I will be canceling my vision insurance and gladly come back here in the future. read more

Love love love this place for Rx and glasses! Such a deal with a $35 exam but then they will credit that amount towards a pair of glasses that are made right there and ready soooo much faster than a regular chain store or optometrist. I really can't say enough about these gentlemen. Top notch experience! read more

The right bushing on the bridge of my rimless glasses loosened up, and the lense detached. I needed a new bushing. I stopped by The EYE store and John the owner fixed the bushing quickly - and amazingly John did not charge me. That was really nice - and speaks to the service John must provide to his customers. Here's the thing - I was just a walk in, never been there before. A real local touch from a small business owner. read more

This will be a controversial opinion, but I don't love giant, thick, plastic frames, which seems to be what you see in the window of every Lenscrappers -- sorry, Lenscrafters -- and other big eye chain. I know they're all the rage among the younguns, but guess what? I'm old, and I like what I like. So when it came time for me to get new glasses, I wanted to go somewhere that had a wide style selection, preferably an indie store. After reading excellent reviews for The Eye Store (+100 for that name punnery), I decided to give this place a try. This place exceeded my expectations. Gary and Richard are professional, friendly, and honest. To wit: I mentioned during my exam that I hadn't gotten new glasses in a few years, and Richard asked me my age (well, he actually asked me if it was OK for him to ask me my age, which was very gentlemanly). I told him I was in my 30s, and he said that most people's distance vision -- which is what I need glasses for -- doesn't change much after age 25, so I really shouldn't need new lenses all that often. Seriously, how many optometrists would tell you that? They also did not rush me when I spent a good 25 minutes trying on frames. In fact, when I described what I was looking for, Gary pulled options for me that I might not have found or considered myself, but I wound up going with one of them! I love my new glasses (which were ready the day after my appointment), and even though The Eye Store doesn't take insurance, the total for an exam, the frames, and the lenses was $255; the last time I got glasses, the total *with insurance* was almost $500. What's more, I found something I love and had a great, comfortable experience. Highly recommended! read more

John went above and beyond, making us several sets for multiple purposes - regular vision, reading glasses & computer glasses - and very reasonably priced! The new glasses really made a difference. Unfailingly pleasant and positive, a joy to work with...Recommended!! read more

I had an amazing experience visiting the Eye store. I met with Dr Richard and Gary. They were both very respectful and made me feel comfortable. I went in for a vision test, it took about 15minutes (cost $35 and I didn't have to schedule an appointment). Dr Richard answered all the questions I had. The store itself looks a bit old BUT it shouldn't stop you from visiting, the service is A1. The store is well stocked with different frames. After my vision test, I was allowed to look around and take pictures of the store. The testing room is small, just a heads up. read more

I thought all the 5 stars can't be real but I was so happy to find out by myself they are!! John, the owner, provided me superb customer service. There is a great selection of beautiful glasses with a good price range, and the cherry on top: he cut the lenses on the spot!! I went in, tried a few glasses, and was out with new gorgeous glasses on my face an hour later! One of the best shopping experiences I've ever had! John is super friendly and knowledgeable. He gave me a great price and helped me with all the documentation I needed for my insurance and FSA. They also have a great, beautiful selection of sunglasses! read more

Great experience, very nice guys run this place. $35 eye exam and no pressure to buy their glasses. If you do buy glasses from them, they offer a 10% discount and credit you the $35 eye exam fee. read more

Dr. Montross is awesome. No frills, no BS, just great friendly service and super fair prices.

John solved all my eyeglass problems. He figured out how to correct for an inaccurate prescription (without me needing a new eye exam, which wouldn't be covered under insurance); he chose the perfect frame for me; he had my glasses ready in two days (he cuts the lenses himself); and they are perfect. Besides his technical expertise and quick turn-around, he offers fantastic customer service in that he is friendly and takes an interest in his customers. He's very knowledgeable and understands everything about glasses and the customers' needs. I'd say this was the best experience I've ever had at any small business, and certainly when compared to other optical shops I've been to. I highly recommend The Eye Store. read more

Was there today, service was exceptionally fast. Eye exam probably took like a minute or two? was explained what options I had, paid for my lenses and was probably out of the store in about ~5-8 minutes. Service is outstanding. read more

John, the owner, and optician of The Eye Store, provides world-class customer services. I came into the store with a pair of not-so-common glasses and quite a few issues regarding contacts. With my numerous issues and questions, I was expecting any owner to get annoyed, but John happily assisted throughout the process. He was always ready to answer more and there was not a single point where I felt his response insufficient. In the end, he seated new lenses in my frames and then he went above and beyond in helping me find the perfect set of contacts. Beyond the service, the prices are the best around. read more
