Really good samosas and pakora! We got the chicken balti and bhuna and both were really good flavors, especially in a rainy day.

I am not lying when I say I visited three or four times during our week in Westport last summer…read more It was a bit difficult finding Ring's our first day in town. I believe we were actually looking for someplace else. Ring's is what we found. We were drawn in by the sign outside the place: "Where the locals eat." That's usually an indication you're going to have a good experience. I will bore you totally by telling you I have celiac, but Ring's was able to accommodate me with a truly delicious gluten-free burger. Which is what necessitated multiple trips. The roll is the best I've ever had and, for a gluten-free burger, that makes all the difference. I'm writing this now because, of course, the pandemic makes it impossible to travel now, but if we could we'd surely visit Westport again. And I would no doubt resume my romance with Ring's. I should say that they served up very good vegetarian dishes as well, as my daughter will attest. We never had anything less than a wonderful meal there.

Now they say this is where the locals eat and I believe that from the conversations going on with the customers and staff. We finally found the place after a short walk from our hotel and we went there 4 mornings in a row before heading back to the states. The food is excellent and the staff while very busy are still friendly. Now don't be in a big hurry. You can get seated but don't be surprised that a few guys wander in and sit down and sit down and their food gets out before yours does. They are locals and make reservation and the cafe already knows what they are going to order and it's ready by the time they sit down. Didn't bother us a bit and why would it. Take care of the regulars and they will take care of you. If we are ever back in Ireland and get to Westport this is the first place we will check to see if it is still in business. Pretty sure it will be.

I am an ultimate fan of Breakfast and this place does breakfast to the T!…read more First walking in, there were many people chatting, having a good time, and still yet plenty of spots to sit. The menu was full of decisions. Breakfast foods, coffees, a Breakfast lovers DREAM! I ordered the Full Irish breakfast and what i received exceeded my expectations. I also ordered just a plain coffee. Before the food came, my cup was empty. I wasn't sure if the waitresses went around filling empty cups so I waited a while, then decided to go to the counter to get a refill. A little bothersome. They must have been busy and a little under staffed but I honestly didn't mind. When the food came out, everything was perfect. Egg, sausage, bacon, black pudding topped with a tomato, a basket full of toast, and a bowl full of chips. The only thing they did not have that I wanted was jam. The service, other than the empty cup of coffee, was excellent. I want to go there every morning! Oh and the price was very good. Two people, two Irish breakfasts and two coffees came out to be 15.95. Very sensible. Love Love Love. Definitely try it!

There are real cooks here who know how to cook. The surprising thing for us was we didn't even know the harbour existed let alone the Towers restaurant. We only learned this in the local town hall when we went in on Monday to buy tickets for their swing night on the Friday. The staffer originally from Belfast was a great tourism ambassador. On our first night at this place I opted for linguine. I kept it light and vegetarian. My wife opted for cod & chips with mushy peas & tartare sauce. Boyso, the biggest piece of fried fish we've ever been served. It was delicious and I got a piece. The mushy peas were excellent too. There were two problems that need some re work though; the fish batter was a good beer batter. It was crispy thin delicious on serving, but sadly it didn't stay crisp for the time it took to eat the cod. The skin on chips should also have been cooked a bit longer. On another night, my wife opted for their chicken tikka masala, which she liked (good 3 star). I had seafood chowder with a dense delightful brown bread, served with butter and 6 Clew Bay oysters served with a raspberry vinaigrette. I do prefer plain fresh lemon, white pepper and red Tabasco. I'd put the chowder 5 star and the oysters 3 to 4 star. The oysters are priced top end - I wouldn't buy them again. On yet another night my wife had their sirloin steak (€28.5) with all the fixings and the steak and pepper sauce were really top notch. The skin on chips were done perfectly that night. I didn't manage to eat it all while to batter was crispy. We had excellent coffees two nights and truly delicious espresso martinis on our last night. The view outside was wild beauty; stunning. We would go back in a heart beat. They should address the poor to non existent WiFi. Seems if the weather is poor so is the WiFi. It's the west of Ireland folks so the risk of poor weather is September thru March annually. Yes I know when folks are dining they shouldn't be going on line but it's as essential as serving great food.
