    Homemade Banofee Pie

Amazing food! Extremely Friendly Staff! Great Pub Ambience!! Good for big groups. I had the Crab Claws tossed in garlic butter to start. They were absolutely massive and so tasty. My friends had the Clew Bay Mussels and the Conakillty Black Pudding. All of the dishes were excellent. For maincourse, I had the Monkfish, which was really good and my friends had the Rack of Lamb and the Black Sole. Everybody was really impressed with the quality and quantity of the food. For dessert we had the Homemade Banoffee Pie, Homemade Apple Crumble and the Homemade Strawberry Cheese Cake. They were all excellent and a great end to a perfect meal. Two BIG thumbs up :-)

A great restaurant down in the Westport Harbour. We ended up there after hiking Croagh Patrick. "Two teas and two Guinness," was our plea to the waiter. He obliged kindly. Drinking hot tea and a pint of Guinness in one sitting is a bit of talent really, and after climbing Croagh Patrick on a windy day, there was no better way to satiate our thirsts. Oh, waters. Yes, we had waters too. We also had the most delicious turkey and ham pie, topped with creamy mashed potatoes and served with a side of mouth-watering roasted butternut squash. For a lunch portion, it was large enough for two and it mentally helped to knead out our tired muscles. The service was great, the bar was cozy and the location was lovely. We had a nice walk along the water when we finished. I'd certainly pay The Helm a visit on a return trip to Westport. We'll be going for dinner next time!

Short of offering to pay for our meal themselves the staff here couldn't have been any friendlier. Even forgoing starters didn't stop us struggling to finish the lobster thermidor & half "duckling", such were the size of the portions and amount of accompanying veg & chips. A popular spot with both locals & tourists you'd be well advised to book ahead so as to avoid disappointment.

    Crab claws, no muscles. :(

Booked for diner this evening based on yelp reviews. The staff were very helpful and service was very good. The food is very good, but very over priced. I found myself paying top euro for a great main, but poor sides, tight seating arrangement and poor surroundings. The meal came with frozen chips and ketchup sachets, which is below the expectation when looking at the price of the dish.

There are real cooks here who know how to cook. The surprising thing for us was we didn't even know the harbour existed let alone the Towers restaurant. We only learned this in the local town hall when we went in on Monday to buy tickets for their swing night on the Friday. The staffer originally from Belfast was a great tourism ambassador. On our first night at this place I opted for linguine. I kept it light and vegetarian. My wife opted for cod & chips with mushy peas & tartare sauce. Boyso, the biggest piece of fried fish we've ever been served. It was delicious and I got a piece. The mushy peas were excellent too. There were two problems that need some re work though; the fish batter was a good beer batter. It was crispy thin delicious on serving, but sadly it didn't stay crisp for the time it took to eat the cod. The skin on chips should also have been cooked a bit longer. On another night, my wife opted for their chicken tikka masala, which she liked (good 3 star). I had seafood chowder with a dense delightful brown bread, served with butter and 6 Clew Bay oysters served with a raspberry vinaigrette. I do prefer plain fresh lemon, white pepper and red Tabasco. I'd put the chowder 5 star and the oysters 3 to 4 star. The oysters are priced top end - I wouldn't buy them again. On yet another night my wife had their sirloin steak (€28.5) with all the fixings and the steak and pepper sauce were really top notch. The skin on chips were done perfectly that night. I didn't manage to eat it all while to batter was crispy. We had excellent coffees two nights and truly delicious espresso martinis on our last night. The view outside was wild beauty; stunning. We would go back in a heart beat. They should address the poor to non existent WiFi. Seems if the weather is poor so is the WiFi. It's the west of Ireland folks so the risk of poor weather is September thru March annually. Yes I know when folks are dining they shouldn't be going on line but it's as essential as serving great food.
