Dogue de Bordeaux (with side potato salad)

Based on all the great reviews of this place (online and word of mouth), I think this may be more a dinner spot, since I didn't quite have the same amazing experience when my wife and I went for lunch. After a morning at the gorge, we stopped by the town and saw all the good feedback on Evelyn so thought we'd give it a try. We shared the baked brie as an appetizer (good size though pricey at $18; the spicy pecans were a nice touch) and the bordeaux hotdog (fancy hotdog with caramelized onions, gruyere and truffle oil; lots of gruyere which was good but kinda didn't taste the truffle oil). Overall, their lunch was a bit pricey for food that tasted pretty good. One important note: service was super slow (to the point that the server asked us at one point if we wanted the bill thinking we were done with our meal, only for us to reply we hadn't received it yet; so yes, our food took that long). And I would've dinged Evelyn a lot for this, except at the end of the meal (and this is without me complaining yet since we're trying to be a bit more understanding during these pandemic times), the manager/owner (?) comped the 2 dogs woth side potato salad and drinks we got and proactively apologized profusely , so we ended up just paying for the brie. So that was an excellent and unprompted recognition on their part of their shortcomings, and immediate and genuine desire to fix it. Kudos to Evelyn for that. Anyway, food was just ok for me, so maybe go here for dinner since that's what everyone else is raving about?

Special of the day: turbot with lemon, veggies and mustard seed sauce.

We had a great meal outdoors with a very happy perky waitress. And we had the best French onion soup we ever had!

Cafe Bouffon - Crispy on the outside yet soft and runny on the inside!

Just one star off for the priciness, but otherwise really delicious, really pleasant environment,…read moreand a super helpful and friendly server. The French onion soup was really thick with cheese at the top, perhaps a bit too much so. The carrot salad was really pleasant to eat and felt healthy. The burger had a nice flavor and texture to it; the bun was a bit sweet, and the fries were tasty, but not super crisp though crisp enough, and a bit salty. The leek tartine was a bit monolithic, the leek being too oily and the bread a bit flat. It was overpriced by about $6 or $7 in my opinion. Wish there was as little more going for it. The crepes were decent; the nutella crepe was particularly sweet. For dessert, the roulé au chocolat was top notch, with a freshly whipped cream accompanying a sturdy and flavorful chocolate roll cake. Music was good too! All in all a good way to spend time eating and having a bite with friends and family prior to a show.

Our guy was on top of things, good descriptions and always there when we needed him. The food was yummy but not mind blowing. I loved that you could do half fries and half salad. The frite were soooo goooood and the garlic aioli was delightful. The rest was just good. I didn't think the "crispy" added a lot to the eggs benny but it was interesting to try. Nice place if you want to have a fancy little brunch before a play
