A friendly local spot with great food. Delicious pastries, sweet and savoury baked goods. Love the quiche and croissants.

All of their accolades and trophies drew me in to take a closer look. They have a ton of flavours there and the owner was nice enough to help me find something that didn't have any nuts (nut allergy) or raisins (preference lol). She assured me that she prepares all of her nut free tarts in a separate area than the ones with nuts, so there isn't any cross contamination. She recommended the Skor flavour to us. This one had bits of Skor and chocolate chips in it. She let us try a sample and we were instantly sold. I thought it would be too sweet but honestly, it was just amazing. It seemed to be a really popular flavour as they were down to their last box during this event. They have mini and normal sizes but not in all flavours. They have a store in Shelburne but they travel around to different markets and events so she encouraged me to check the site for where they would visit next. I have to admit that I wasn't ever a fan of butter tarts until I had this one! Side note, butter tarts are Canadian! I had no idea lol.

The service was pretty good, and we got to sit outdoors on the patio on a beautiful sunny day - one simply can't ask for a better dining experience. One complaint from a couple in our party was the coffee tasted and smelled like dish soap. I didn't order coffee myself but perhaps it wouldn't hurt to run an extra cycle of rinsing before serving with those mugs.

In spite of the time told to us by the hostess. It was our first time there. Our orders were placed. Yet the food seemed to take a long time to get to our table. Meanwhile others got seated after us and their food was out to them, shortly after they sat and ordered. Catfish burger 11/10. Portobello mushroom burger 7/10. It seemed to be missing something. Salads were phenomenal 10/10. Mac'n'cheese, another 10/10. And I never eat that. At all, it was really, really good. Top of the line. The staff were friendly, yet I couldn't help but notice how it seemed our table lacked attention in getting served. I dont know if its because my friend and I were out of towners. I asked twice for hot sauce that was actually given to our table from a different server than the one who took our order. And she was the second person I asked. Mind you it was fairly busy and I understand that. I appreciated learning of the history of the restuarant. In it being originally a bakery and then taken over by the son-in-law. Maintaining the quality and integrity of the food coming out of the kitchen. Definitely nice to hear and not something experienced often in the big city. My friend and I live in Toronto. The washroom I felt was a little close to the dining area. I think there needs to be some more separateness between the dine area, the washrooms and the kitchen. Smells tend to linger. I also didn't enjoy how they use billybee honey instead of a local one. Aside from that. Great restuarant with a wonderful mission. Will likely return.

As expected there was no seating available due to Covid-19. The food quality from the hot table was moderate (hence the 3*'s). Had a salami calzone for lunch. We also bought a blueberry/strawberry scone/biscuit. I deducted a star cause the biscuit was virtually tasteless. Almost zero taste! Found that strange considering the cost was $3.50! I'd do over but just the gelato this time.

We got almond cookies, hazelnut cookies with chocolate, pecan butter tart, strawberry cheesecake, apple strudel. My son thought the strudel was sweet. He likes uncle tetsu cheesecakes which aren't too sweet. The almond cookies had too much vanilla in them. There was an aftertaste that wasn't the best The hazelnut had the same issue. The butter tarts were good. Sweet not overly runny. You could bite them and they didn't drip out but not a firm Filling either. My friend bought the chocolate pecan? Butter tart and it was quite good. The I thought the chocolate added to it. Was worried it would make it too sweet. The Apple strudel was pretty good. I always like pastry no filo please!!!! Anyways kinda reminded me of what you'd buy in a store. I think the filling is the kind that comes from a bucket. So I don't think I'd get again unless I was in a strudel mood. I do have a weakness for strudel. Saturday mornings at st Lawrence market has a better one if she is still there. I definitely need to go back to Try the food!!'

What brought me to Tin Roof Cafe in Erin was my son's baseball game against the local team. With time to kill and bellies to fill before first pitch, we stopped by Tin Roof Cafe. It looked like the most promising spot in town, and we were fortunate to squeeze in an hour there before their daily 6 p.m. closing time. My son ordered the Tin Roof BLT, and everything about it tasted incredibly fresh. I especially appreciated that they used locally baked bread instead of the typical store-bought variety. (If you're wondering, they also offer a regular BLT--but you won't get the turkey, avocado, or chipotle mayo that make the Tin Roof version so special.) It was a delicious sandwich from start to finish. For myself, I ordered the Nutellaccino. It was surprisingly good. The Nutella added a nutty richness to the coffee without making it crazily sweet. We also ordered a peanut butter brownie to go. Since my son was eating his sandwich first, the staff kindly offered to keep the brownie in the fridge until we were ready to leave. However, since we still had some time to kill and of course a sweet tooth, so we ended up eating the brownie before we left. The brownie was so...good. You could tell it was homemade, and even the peanut butter was homemade. The only disappointment was that I visited during the summer. Otherwise, I definitely would have tried one of their soups, which unfortunately aren't available during the warmer months. I love coffee shops with personality, and Tin Roof Cafe has plenty of it. Its cozy, funky village vibe made our one-hour visit feel warm, welcoming, and memorable. It's exactly the kind of local café that makes a small-town stop worthwhile.
