    Mr.Puffs - Woohoo! Love a baker's dozen

I had never heard of it, but apparently they're an established chain. The store is large, bright and cheery. The smell hooks you immediately. It's basically a gourmet doughnut holes shop, with plenty of fancy coffees and cold beverages to accompany. I wanna say, think Tim's crossed with Starbucks, with the emphasis on the Puffs. The puffs are made to order, with so many flavours to choose from. You can purchase half dozen, dozen, and up, and mix the flavours for each half dozen. We bought a combo box of Oreo and Nutella. You can watch the staff preparing the dough in the kitchen, and while they add your toppings at the counter. Idk if they somehow learned about it being a birthday visit, or this is usual, but we got a baker's dozen. I'll take that puff instead of a cherry on top for sure, because they were delicious. They are on the sweet side. Our drinks were also on the sweet side but delicious. The coffee is freshly ground on order and everything tasted fresh. We both opted for coffee based cold drinks but they have slushees, fruity and I think some tea options. The coffee was nice and strong without tasting bitter. The seating was a little odd, cute little stools in line with the honeycomb decor as opposed to chairs. The space felt really open, like your conversation can be heard all around. It was clean and very spacious. The staff on our visit were great. I would definitely return if it were closer to me, and I will totally check out other locations.

The Coolest Little Ice Cream Shop - Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Pralines & Cream (2 scoops $4.00)

This ice cream shop, open Apr to Oct, sells Kawartha dairy products. It is inside Cedar Beach…read moreVariety, just to the left of the entrance. I saw they had a steady stream of customers. It has been popular among locals since they opened in 2008. The prices are quite reasonable at $3 for 1 scoop and $4 for 2 scoops. Even banana splits are only $5. All prices include taxes! We had a 2-scoop cone: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Pralines & Cream. Both scoops were creamy and tasty. My son really loved them but I did manage to get a little bit of both flavours. There is some savoury food served too like hot dogs, fries, poutine, and coffees. It is owned by a husband and wife team: George and Irene. Both are very pleasant people. They love having fun signs such as: "adults must be accompanied by children" and "children left unattended in this store will be sold to the circus". You can only pay by cash or e-transfer. There is no phone number because I can see they are extremely busy. You can still contact them via social media. There are picnic tables outside. During pandemic times, all staff and customers wear face masks and there is plexiglass used. Only one family is allowed in the small order area at a time. Just outside the entrance, you can be entertained by a famous saxaphone player, Orlando (a Cuban), during nice the afternoons. Today (2021-09-05), we were lucky to also have a guest keyboardist also from Cuba. There is no free WiFi. It is wheelchair  accessible. You can use a washroom by request. Parking may not be easy to find but people tend to parking in the large parking lot behind to store. Review 2021-084 You can also find me on Instagram @chuan_chee. Thanks.

It's really a mish mash of stuff. The ice cream sold here is Kawartha Dairy, so that bit is pretty standard. But the servings are pretty big & a single is only $3 and a double $4, including tax. So it's cheaper than going to a Kawartha outlet They only accept cash & etransfer. The guy is pretty friendly, though there were some ice crystals in the ice cream.

The herbs came in the soup already. Green tea matcha crepe with Nutella was decent; it was neither warm nor crispy so it didn't seem fresh. It's got something in it that a bunch of others do not, but make sure you tell them ahead of time if you don't want bean sprouts. I usually like to get Pho with grilled chicken in it, but they do charge you a bit extra for the grilled chicken part. Their rare beef is as good as anywhere else, but the soup is what you're getting it for. Their bowls are a little smaller for the price they ask for though. Their desserts that I've had and heard have been good, but again, expensive for what they are. Their menu is quite large, as they also offer bar food and some other desserts. Their fries / poutine's pretty good. It's a pretty small place, but I've never seen a line there. Service is good, though sometimes it takes a bit to flag someone down. They had a karaoke night last time we went, which is kind of annoying if you're only there for the meal like we were. Still, you could do worse for a bowl of Pho, some bar food or dessert. I'm not sure I'd recommend going often because of the price. We've gone a few times with friends because of the large menu, resulting in a good experience.
