Terrible service! They did some work rebuilding a fence for me. The fence looks good, however the service was not up to level I expected for the price paid. The issues included: the quote I received via email was incorrect (Duncan blamed his assistant for this issue without apologizing for the mistake), his team did not fully complete the job (left a screw sticking out of the wall, did not completely remove the old fence stumps, and waited until after completing the fence door to mention that they would have recommended using new wood versus reusing the old fence). I would not recommend their service. read more

Duncan Cottrell was a godsend. My experience was exactly the opposite of the previous reviewer. My home was burglarized by a door kick in on a Friday evening and when I called Mr. Cottrell on Saturday morning, he came himself to repair the door within 2 hours. He did not know me at all. I was referred to him by a neighbor as well as a friend since he had done work in her neighborhood several months ago. Such a relief in my hour of need and he did an expert job. The door was better than it was originally and his price was reasonable. Everyone I know gives him glowing recommendations. I have since used him to install a back door as well as other handyman services. He and his crew are professional and do an excellent job; I never had any issues with scheduling. Duncan and his team have done an amazing job with security my house, and also providing increased energy efficiency at the same time. Duncan was able to do all of this on an 1886 Victorian home. He was able to preserve the integrity of the homes, the windows, and the character without compromising security. He is detailed oriented and makes sure that everything is perfect. read more

He was a referral. First meeting was ok. Overall he's just rude. Told him I wanted the work done before thanksgiving. Didn't even bother to call to see if the materials came in until after I called him...after thanksgiving. I take off work to meet him. He shows up an hour late, no phone call to say he's going to be late and then acts as if he's doing me a favor by showing up. Starts putting up the screens. I hear all this drilling and I'm just praying he's not ruining my window frames. He installed one screen uneven and it would have stayed that way had I not pointed it out. Also the product isn't what I expected. He was very misleading, but I let him do the work cause i didn't want to be bothered with him again. I'll find a professional next time and I definitely be won't be referring him to anyone else. read more

Duncan Cottrell owns the Entry Enforcer as well as the Educated Craftsman. I had a terrible experience with the Educated Craftsman. I selected them because Paul was very thorough on the quote, and I felt like the work would be good, even though their cost was higher than others. On the day scheduled for the work, I saw a truck sitting outside my house from 9-10am. When it drove off, I called the office. Meredith did not know what was going on. Paul showed up at 12 noon, and told me that Duncan had sent a cancellation through google calendar and he did not know why. I had issues with almost everything Paul tried to fix. Grout was replaced in kitchen, however, it started chipping after 2 weeks. Paul chipped a tile in kitchen while trying to get floor vent back on. Paul chipped paint on mail box and dented post while resetting it. Guest closet door rubbed on frame and was difficult to close. It would not open after it was worked on. The guy who was doing the grout yelled at me when I asked him to vacuum piles of grout that he left in both hallways. The guest bedroom toilet was the only repair that was actually fixed without issue. This was done by a plumber (not Paul) After dealing with Paul and his helper for 1.5 days, I did not want them back. I watched them smoke in the driveway. Paul sanded in front of the garage with the door open, when I realized that dust was all over the garage and had coated my car, I asked him to shut door and he refused. I requested an adjustment to the invoice given all of the issues. Duncan refused to adjust the invoice or address any issues caused by his employees. read more

Duncan was wonderful, he came to my house and gave me advice on reinforcing my doors after a break-in. I had already purchased some equipment but was unsure about whether it was the correct product. He gave me the thumbs-up and did not try to upsell me on anything. I needed the front door replaced and Home Depot could not get it done anywhere near a timely fashion. Duncan had someone over in two days to replace the front door. The man who showed up was also wonderful - it's an older home with some non-standard specs, he spent a lot of time on getting the front door just right. read more

If only I'd read the reviews before reaching out to this company. I found this company online as I was looking for someone to install protective film on my windows. I scheduled a consultation with the receptionist and Duncan, the owner, came out a few days later. At the end of the consultation, Duncan asked for a $50 deposit. I told him that the receptionist never mentioned a deposit when we scheduled the appointment, but I paid it since I was planning to have the work done and it would be applied to the cost of the service. Fast forward to the day before the work was to be completed. I missed a call from Duncan's receptionist to confirm the appointment but called back after work and left a voicemail. Duncan himself called me back later that evening to confirm that someone would indeed be there the next morning to complete the job. Well, the next morning no one showed up at the time we'd scheduled. An hour after the scheduled time, I called Duncan for an update and he told me he'd look into and call me right back. 15 minutes later, his receptionist (not him) called to say that the crew had left my area and would not be coming back. They told me that I would not be able to have that service completed. Rightfully pissed, I asked for my $50 deposit back and was told no and that I could use it towards another service. I asked for it back several times, but was told no. He even went so far as to have his receptionist continually call to try to schedule different jobs at my home - never acknowledging or even apologizing for standing me up after he personally confirmed with me. This has been the WORST experience and I highly caution anyone looking to have work done by this company. read more

Let me save you the time by letting you know that you should not contact The Entry Enforcer or its owner Duncan Cottrell for his services. My initial call with him was very informative and I had around 1000 to 1200 dollars worth of work I wanted done by his company. He was interested so when we concluded our call I made a few other inquiries and then called his company back to set up time for a quote so we had exact numbers. By the way, the young woman who handles the scheduling and calls is wonderful and the only shining light on this otherwise poor business man and his business. I proceed to set up a visit for Wednesday through her for the quote. Duncan calls me the week before trying to figure out why I am on the calendar and complaining about the distance from his shop to our home. I was very clear about where we lived prior to setting up this appointment. He said no problem and then calls me at 8:45pm the night before the appointment trying to get out of the work. He must have forgotten the amount of work I wanted done because once I said its over 1,000 dollars worth of work he changed his tune but then attempted to change the time of the pre scheduled appointment. The day of the appointment I called him to verify the time of arrival and he began to get irritated so then I asked him if he was sure that he wanted the work because it did not sound like he did. He was bitching and moaning about the distance and how now he was going to have to tack on a trip fee to the already large amount we were going to spend. I instructed him that we were not on the same page and will take my business elsewhere. Now, if that was my business, and I was a small business owner, I would have definitely behaved differently. I guess if Duncan had known that I grew up 38 years in Atlanta and have multiple friends and family to refer him business he might have also acted differently. I will find someone who needs the work and refer them the extra buisness. I feel sorry for his staff and employees because with his behavior, I am not sure how long he will be able to pay them. read more
