I had a disappointing experience with the Vivint sales representative Eli Reid. Before I signed the agreement, he was very attentive, responsive, and made it seem like he would be available to help if I had any issues. After I signed, that completely changed. The installation was never completed. The technician came out once but couldn't finish the installation and returned a few days later. When he came back, I told him I no longer wanted to move forward with the service. I was told I would have to pay an additional $100 to cancel on top of the $35 I had already paid, even though the system had never been fully installed. When I later spoke with a customer service, I learned that there was a way to properly cancel my service and that my sales rep (Eli Reid) could assist with that within minutes. When I contacted Eli to provide me with what was needed to cancel, he said "Sure! I'm working right now, but I will take care of it when I get a moment." Afterwards, Eli text me and literally said, "She's just going to have to keep it." Very unprofessional and not at all assisting. I guess he's no longer willing to help. I understand that companies have contracts and cancellation policies, but I expect honesty throughout the sales process. If promises are made before a sale, they should still matter afterward. I hope Vivint provides better training and accountability so future customers receive accurate information from the beginning. Canceling Vivint was far more difficult than it should have been. A year ago, I was told I needed to pay off my equipment financing before I could cancel service. After paying off the equipment, I called to cancel and spent over an hour on the phone speaking with two different representatives. I was repeatedly placed on hold for 3-5 minutes while they returned with new offers to keep me from canceling, including discounted monitoring rates and replacement equipment through "loyalty points" that I had never heard of before despite being a customer for years. I was also charged an additional $35 for equipment-related costs that I was told were not included with my financing. Although my cancellation request was eventually approved, Vivint informed me that my account would not be processed for cancellation until 10 business days after notice was received. I was also told that monitoring charges would continue during the review/processing period. The representatives were polite, but the process felt focused on retention rather than providing a simple and transparent cancellation experience. Customers should not have to spend over an hour on the phone, endure multiple retention attempts, and wait additional business days just to end service. read more

I never answer the door for strangers but the Vivint salesman called me by name and said my neighbor sent him. Lies! With a 1.06 BBB rating, Vivint Smart Home is well-known for employing a large commission based door to door sales and high pressure, deceptive tactics. Monty, the marketing manager with an incredible offer, started off friendly enough. Then came the invasive questions. "What do you do? How many smart devices do you have? Who's your alarm company? How much do you pay? It's wireless? The WiFi could go down. It's wired? Someone could cut the phone line.. We have smart thermostats." I have 2. "Vivint is compatible!" Monty pulled out his fancy iPad which showed pics of him smiling with families, impressive flood lights that follow intruders, garage door openers, cameras, large HD screens. Everything but the cost. When I said I'd prefer to read the reviews first Monty pulled up the Forbes rating. All the while, he kept trying to come inside so we could "talk." After about 25 minutes of upsell attempts, he ball-parked an $80 monthly quote. I asked for a card. "It's virtual." Monty wouldn't email me or leave info so I could have time to decide. Finally, I gave him a fake phone # to get him to leave! Vivint has settled multiple lawsuits. Impersonating salespeople steal personal info from consumers to apply for fraudulent loans to increase their commission. Bad credit? Reps find someone with a similar name and run their credit or add a cosigner without consent. Then the cosigner is contacted by a Vivint debt collector! Vivint paid millions for tricking customers into signing high-priced, multi-year contracts that were impossible to cancel. Vivint charges more than the contract says, sells faulty equipment, won't produce receipts, renews contracts without consent, misinforms customers about their cancellation policy and charges customers after they cancel. Don't let them in, once you do is hard to get rid of them. The one that came to my home was a young kid, very nice and respectful but very sneaky. He did a loan application on my behalf for a $6000 loan without telling me. I found out after I had signed. Never mentioned I had 3 days to cancel, thank God I read the contract after he left and was able to cancel the next day. I'm hoping there's no issue. If you need to cancel, send an email, a certified letter and contact them immediately by phone and pray because a lot of people had issues with the cancellation, as in they drag their feet and will keep charging until the cancellation goes through. read more

One thing that is good is the video playback, but is that worth 5k? They told me they would payoff my adt bill as part of their package. The 1st technician Clarence Wilson who came to do my install it's obvious that he didn't care about anything I asked for! He lied stating I couldn't add another camera which its clear he just didn't want to install it which I'm thankful he didn't! I requested service cameras installed in fron and back. Upon installation one of the technicians drilled a whole in the AC line. So if course my AC went out. I want to tell you about an outstanding company from the initial sells rep Whisky and the Manager Brandon they were there every step of the way ensuring that we were taking care of until all repairs and accesment fees were taken care of,they even offered to put us up in a hotel. They paid for all repairs. Brandon was so caring and very concerned and remorseful so the damage done by one of his technicians. It's not often that you find people like Brandon. They're dishonest, they lied about the equipment I was to received just to run my credit check and gain my business. The day of service ( a Field Tech who was very professional) came to my home he explained before he could install the service I had to sign documents and pay first , per company policy. I explained my needs to the salesperson and also conveyed it to the tech that I wanted all lower level of my home secured, all doors and windows protected. I was told by the salesperson I could use my existing censors and the cost was a little over $500. Only after the install was complete I was told only 1 censor was install and the additional would be $400 more . $50 per censor Wait what! They run my credit, charge me $500 + before servicing me and it honestly felt like they purposely was misleading. After the fact, I am told about the pricing change. Why would I want just 1 censor I have 3 and 10 windows. Honesty the best policy!!!! I explained everything prior to the signup. Im told yes we can use the prior censors. I tried reaching out to corporate and felt disservice with the resolution, a generic apologies and promise to train and coach etc. they avoided my request to talk with escalation or provide a valid email. So While I await refund with holes in my walls... I say all this could have be avoided if they were honest and not deceiving trying to juke me out additional $400+. They wasted my time and showed me they are great at securing themselves more over the customers and to think they almost had my business too. Yelp! I have owned a Vivint security system for more than 3 years. The first install was good and we overcame the various glitches within a reasonable time. 2 months ago the panel stopped working. Upon troubleshooting I was told I needed to replace panel. 1 hour on the phone with Customer Loyalty and I was sold a $5,000 upgrade with a 5 year contract. That is where Vivint 'gets you no matter what' and you end up Hating. HATING Vivint. Of all my equipment I have only gotten the panel. As for the cameras, doorbell, smoke detectors (which is not the same as monitors, I learned- monitors simply call your local fire dept if your other alarms go off), I have wasted 3 days waiting for techs that didn't arrive, didn't know how to install or didn't have all the equipment. Not to mention the hours Wasted on the phone explaining over and over what went wrong, giving passwords and security answers only to be transferred and start all over again then dropped. All I have left is the time to let you know to Stay Away From Vivint. At least don't sign any kind of contract and don't expect any kind of service worth your while. By the way, the new panel, which for the moment works with my cameras doesn't have any 'upgraded' functionality. If anything , it feels like a downgrade due to constant glitches. read more

I received a knock on the door around 7:30 pm to a sales representative named Dylan. He was explaining the system and showing me examples, and the usual salesman stuff. Everything was fine, until he stepped closer to me (I was standing in the door way) and said "I'm going to come in and take my shoes off" and proceeded to get so close to me try to force his way into the house. We liked the wider camera for better coverage. The techs arrived 30 mins later. Halfway through I had second thoughts. But when they left I knew this system was not staying. The tech left everything a mess, used the restroom, and didn't flush. One tech was upset when I questioned him about why my light switch wasn't working after they removed my old doorbell. Also left the doorbell cover on the floor until I pointed it out. The tech drilled so many extra holes and left the wires looking a mess. Recently purchased a home about two months ago that had a Vivint system installed less than two years ago. I wasn't familiar with the company and decided to stick with the existing provider. After signing up for service and turning it on I couldn't get the equipment to function properly. In one month they sent out four technicians and none of them could get all the equipment working properly. I asked to cancel service and they refuse to waive the early termination fee even though they cannot provide the service that I signed up for. Their customer service is the absolute worst from the technicians to the call service support staff. There is zero accountability from any of their employees, which seems to be part of their business model, which is laughable. Good luck getting in contact with anyone outside of a call center who can actually make a decision or give a solid answer. They are a predatory company, be aware. ONE STAR! However, forth time must me a charm. In April they removed the system from my rental house. Since May I have been trying to get a technician to install my alarm system in my new house. On three different occasions they NEVER SHOWED UP for the appointments. After calling them after each no show they apologized and assured me that someone would be there next time. So after the three no shows I tried to cancel my contact which they advised was nearly impossible. My attorney sent them a letter certified mail stating that I do not feel confident in Vivint being responsible for my family's security due to their Incompetent employees. On Thursday 8/9/18 they called and told me I was 2 months past due on my payment. I immediately asked for the customer retention department. FIVE STARS! Speaking with Spencer for about 45 minutes he was able to retain me as a customer crediting the past due amounts and set up an appointment for someone to install my system today (8/14/18) and told me if the service tech isn't there by 12:15 to call him and he will get him/her there within the hour. At 11:50 Tech Anthony showed up apologizing for the past three no shows and was ready to get the install finished ASAP. I still WOULDN'T RECOMMENDED this company if you live in Georgia. I will not be renewing my contract unless this alarm system saves my family's life or anything equivalent to that. We obtained security services for our mothers new home and the equipment has not worked properly since it was installed 2 months ago. Her alarm system goes off randomly, it never recognizes her security code, she has had the main security panel replaced twice, and the technicians who installed her first round of equipment tore multiple holes in her new construction home. The company has been completely unhelpful when complaints are issued and they don't keep proper notes of the MULTIPLE REPORTED issues due to improperly installed equipment and faulty equipment. If you are shopping for security services please reconsider any other company other than Vivint. They do not offer effective security equipment and they do not take responsibility for the improper or damaging installs made by their technicians. read more

One star because the equipment itself is okay but the team of people running this circus is so unprofessional and unreliable. I would choose another product just for this reason alone because it is really bad. I moved out of my Atlanta, GA apartment and went back home to NC. I made an appointment with Vivint for them to uninstall my equipment from 12-4 on a Friday. I drive SEVEN hours to make this appointment from NC to GA which was confirmed multiple times. The technician no-showed me and I had to sleep on the floor of my empty apartment over night because the support team said I would be high priority for an 8-12 appointment the following morning. The 8-12 window goes by and I get no showed AGAIN! I receive a call asking when I'd like to reschedule my appointment for the THIRD time! I ask the supervisor why they can't send someone asap for me and she says it's because they are busy with their 12-4 window appointments. Like WTF?! How is a customer that gets no-showed back-to-back not placed in a high priority category? None of it makes sense and it's highly unprofessional and messed up what they did to me. A door to door salesman came over to our neighborhood. He was nice and knowledgeable. Since then, the entire experience has been fairly poor. The guy that came over to the house to install was highly untrained and put a large hole in my wall from missing his target and drilled an additional hole in my door that he ended up not using and not even saying anything about. Once I found out, I called customer service who offered me $150 to essentially shut up. I got them to agree to $250. They said I would receive my check in 11 to 14 business days. It's been over a month and I haven't seen anything. I would suggest not spending any of your money on this company. If I could give them zero stars, I would have. To get you to sign up they will offer you everything; but when the dust settles you find out that you're paying for it. An example when I signed up five years ago, I was told that it included service but when you need service you find out that you need to pay and additional $99 to get a tech to come out. They give you the option to fix it yourself; instruct you what to do and because my camera was up high, he wanted a 72-year-old woman to climb the ladder in the garage to fix . I knew my contract was ending soon so I called to have the service canceled. And I called them two weeks before the actual expiration date. I was informed not at the time of the conversation but when I was following up that they need 30 days to process the cancellation-30 days passed my contract date . Therefore, instead of canceling my policy on the date it was due because it takes them so long to process. It took an additional week and a half and they're making me pay for that week and a half. I signed up then read the entire contract a couple hours later. Don't make my mistake!!! You're tied in for 5 years if you do financing and if for any reason you cancel Vivint...the contract states that you owe 100% of the equipment costs (~$3,500) plus 50% of your servic fee for 5 years (~$1,500)! You're in for $5K minimum, NO WAY OUT after a 3 day period. THREE DAY PERIOD. Do not listen to the sales rep at your door. False information! THEN...I tried to cancel my order 12 hours after signing by calling the number provided on the Notice of Cancellation. I emailed, twice, my Notice of Cancellation to Vivint. I've had to call repeatedly (5 times so far today) because the door-to-door salesperson has opened 9 work orders for me and reopened my ticket 9 times SINCE I CANCELED. Installers have been showing up ALL DAY. So I turn them away saying that I already canceled. Then the sales guy opens another work order and reopens my ticket AGAIN!!! The office says that they can't cancel my order because it's not completed because I won't allow installation because I CANCELED THE FREAKING ORDER!!! I called the financing bank too. Citizens Bank did a conference call with me and Vivint (kudos to CBank) and Vivint said they canceled my order. Then ANOTHER INSTALLER SHOWED UP! I called again. ... It's still ongoing! If I could give them ZERO stars, I would. First of all, after their most recent price increase, they have the most expensive monitoring for alarms that I am aware of. Also, even if you are out of contract, you have to give a 30 day notice of cancellation, which is unheard of and ridiculous. Many times when the alarm goes off you never get a call back or sometimes it takes way too long to get a response. Do yourself a favor and find a less expensive company with better service. It shouldn't be hard to find. This alarm system company has robbed me! Financing the equipment you've incarcerated yourself into paying for equipment three-times it's value . I paid the equipment off. I paid the equipment off because they are not meeting their end of the deal! Originally I was told my payments would be half of what Im paying with financing the equipment. I was also told I would be removed from the contract obligations -once the equipment was paid off. Now I'm told.. " I was informed incorrectly " they are however unable to provide the original contract with my signature. One representative says I'm no longer under contract. The other insinuates I have a 60 month contract! In order to end the contract, I would need to pay the monthly cost for the remainder of the contracted months. Because I can't not get Vivint to send my original contract I don't know if that us 0 or 46 months.. No early termination fee option! FYI: No law will accept a "typed" signature ANYONE can type a signature! The reason I'm trying to end the services. The features I have does not work, I can't get the sensory devices to function, it has a huge delay..I was internationally traveling I could not get the equipment to function via my phone app,the alarm ended up malfunctioning .The representative offered to upgrade the faulty equipment! Had another negative experience today. My app wouldn't unlock front door. Had to wait 30 min in line for chat. They told me batteries were low and I couldn't unlock door with low batteries. Didn't know lick had batteries. And none if the high priced equipment alerted me to this fact. They told me to get in another way or call a locksmith. But don't let him unlock this door. It would lose my warranty. I asked what warranty and for what? There is a keyhole, but they didn't give me a key. When I asked about all that, they didn't answer me. And I am stuck with a long contract that they won't let me out of. $51.95 + $13.95 for equipment each month. The locksmith charged $100 to unlock my back door. read more
