The Enjoy Centre really is a unique space, and that always makes me happy. There is a grocery store with plenty of locally supplied products, gluten free and vegan options, fresh deli, and so much more. It's pricey, but I believe in most cases worth it. The Glass House Bistro I was less impressed with, and that's where I docked a star. It's a cafeteria style, so you get your tray, and you pick from sandwiches and salads in clam shell containers, pre-packaged. I find the prices somewhat high, but what really made me cringe was when I pushed my cafeteria tray up to pay, ad debit machine gave me a tip option. Eye roll. Do servers everywhere find this to be a slap in the face to hard work? Does Ikea ask for a tip in their cafeteria now? I doubt it. Excuse my rant, but these tipping options are getting a little ridiculous. Tips are meant to subsidize the incredibly low wages that servers get, and also to show appreciation for the service and food. And I'm not anti-tip anywhere but a restaurant. I tip my coffee shop that I visit every morning quite decently, but I can see them standing there making me the perfect latte. Anyway, I'll end my rant and move onto something positive. The indoor plant section is super nice and has lots of unique gift ideas. You can get a tiny terrarium for $20. They are really adorable and would sure make a nice gift. They also have lots of garden decor type items like statues and signs. I haven't used the spa here, but I have heard good things about it from people I know. I attend a tradeshow here and it was super easy to get into, and out of. Maneuvering around the cluster of strollers was another story. Other interesting things within the Enjoy Centre: Evoolution Oils & Vinegars, Hillabilly's Tools for Cooks, Liquor Store, and a Wild Earth Bakery. And of course, the greenhouse :) Overall, the Enjoy Centre is really great place to spend an afternoon shopping. And look how much of my review I dedicated to being asked for a tip at a fancy cafeteria. I still maintain that is a little ridiculous. read more

So this venue aesthetically is quite beautiful. It truly is an elegant setting for a any large party or event (my sister's wedding in our case) as the flower, trees, and high ceilings make it quite stunning. The kryptonite of this beautiful venue, unfortunately, are the staff and management that conduct business here. Having been involved in planning numerous weddings and business events in the past. I have never met a more unprofessional group of managers and employees. Our relationship with the Enjoy Center began approximately 1 year prior to the wedding date where we began negotiating our contract. At first discussions were quite professional and to be expected from a large business as this. Over the course of this year, the centre had changed event coordinators 7 times. That should have been the first tip off of worries to come. 3 days prior to the date, their most recent coordinator attempted re-negotiate our contract culminating in an increase in overall cost on the level of many thousands of dollars. Despite our negotiations with past coordinators, they would not honor what the previous event coordinators had agreed upon. They even threatened to cancel the entire wedding if we did not agree to their demands! At this point we had to seek legal consultation from a corporate lawyer such that we knew what steps to take. Thankfully we had documented the details of each meeting prior to confirm what had been said and agreed upon. After a lot of "hard ball" back and forth we came to a compromise so as to not risk the chance they would cancel the wedding. That was just a flavor of the heart ache we experienced from the management. At the wedding, the servers were rude to our guests and the bar was understaffed. Bartenders refused to shut down the bar at certain times during the night and ended up delaying the events of the wedding. I physically had to stand behind the bar to stop them from serving after asking them 4 times to close the bar such that people would return to their seats and the bride and groom would enter. Beyond this I strongly suspect they stole much of the alcohol. Much of the craft beers that we had purchased had not been drunk by any guests. When I asked them to show me any empty craft beer bottles or boxes, they refused. When we brought this up with the Event Coordinator and Owner, they claimed we didn't purchase enough alcohol. They claimed that we ran out of beer and the guests were upset because we no longer had beer to offer. The strange thing was that the bartenders did turn over some beer back to us, the generic molson canadian. So we hadn't actually ran out as they claimed, and yet the expensive drinks had all gone missing. For any who would like their wedding at this venue.... I would strongly urge you to re-consider. It will only plague you with heart ache. If however you truly feel the venue is worth it (because it is stunning) I would recommend bringing your own bartenders, or making them keep a tally of the empty bottles to ensure that things are not stolen. I would also recommend recording conversations with the event coordinators such that you have clear documentation to hold the center liable on their agreements. Also be sure to discuss every detail you can (whether there will be water served, whether there will be glasses for said water, whether there will be ice for the water, whether servers will serve water or only the bar, etc) as they will attempt to price hike you later and claim that these were services not included in the previous contract. Good luck! read more

I was pleasantly surprised when I visited The Enjoy Center two weeks ago. It's not much to look at from the outside, but the upstairs greenhouse is fantastic! There were plants there that I never thought I would find in Alberta and everything looked very healthy. The selection was vast, although a little disorganized. They had some very creative ways of displaying plants. It was overall a good experience in terms of finding products I liked and having something nice to look at. In terms of customer service, I found it to be rather abysmal. My order was close to 300$ and I asked to have a 6$ plant taken off after she ran it through (I had not paid yet). The cashier gave a sigh of disgust and begrudgingly had a senior employee void the item. Got a bit of a bitter vibe from the other employees as well and didn't see anyone out and about giving people advice. Luckily for them their plants sell themselves.. read more

The Enjoy Centre is, in a word: Enjoyable. This place is just absolutely wonderful to come to. Whoever designed it was an absolute genius, because I can't think of another building I've been in that has a more positive or calming energy than this one. The spacious, open concept layout with its many many windows allow for a very nice shopping experience. The upstairs is where you'll find the nursery, while the downstairs is where they've got the food- including a deli (I LOVE Sandyview Farms), an organic grocery section, and a liquor store with all types of specialty wine and beers (some of which are available for sampling). The Enjoy Centre is the perfect place to go on a lazy Sunday afternoon and to browse at your leisure while getting some shopping zen on. read more

Our wedding was held at the Enjoy center and I would not recommend it to anyone. We had a terrible experience with management and our day was partially ruined by their overly agressive attitudes towards ourselves and our guests. We were forced to renegotiate our contract on numerous occasions and at one point consulted a lawyer to ensure we were fully aware of our rights as patrons. Don't book with this vendor. There are many other venues that are equally as beautiful in Edmonton and nowhere near as difficult to work with. I regret holding our wedding there. read more

What a great place to visit once! Yeah it would be tough for me to go back there time and time again. I've been there twice now since they've opened and although the place looks very impressive, I want a real garden centre experience. I want to see dirt on the floor, knowledgeable staff that approach you. Really what I'm saying is, I like the old Hole's. I know things change and this is a state of the art European design but I don't think it fits here in Alberta. I have bought many plants and gadgets in the past at the old Hole's, but they seemed to have gone away from those products. Now it's all about displaying it correctly with them. I also hate the fact they want you to walk through their extremely expensive food store first before moving upstairs to their small plant section. I must admit the food was great in the restaurant, great service and thoroughly enjoyable. Perhaps they should move into this area completely and drop that they're a garden centre! read more

Where's the mud? Where are the masses of perennials, the greenhouses full of annuals that you can actually touch and pick up? I don't go to a nursery to buy health food, to have lunch or to listen to dubious canned music. I go for plants and soil amendments etc. There is way too much walking here. Annuals (and a pretty scarce selection they were) are scattered all over the place in amongst stuff that really doesn't have much to do with gardens. The perennial areas are on different levels with long winding walkways between each one. This is a royal pain. Once again, the selection was pretty pathetic and the organization wasn't good either. The worst was the staff. I spoke to about 10 people during my visit and nobody seemed to know where anything was and their knowledge of plants was conspicuously absent. If you want to go shopping and have a mall experience, this is the place for you. If you are a real gardiner it will just frustrate you. Jane read more

What a gem. An example of forward thinking, outside the box , gift to the living. The Enjoy Centre is in part of what you make it. A wonderful venue to take visitors to in summer and winter. Certainly Edmonton area could use more indoor winter venues. A place to leisurely enjoy a cup of coffee with a friend or a book and sit in natural light surrounded by plants. And what about the monthly events with knowledgeable speakers providing education rewlative to health and nutrition. Most at no cost. This and more in addition to purchasing "ready to go" plants of quality, finding a perfect gift or that elusive Alberta product you had difficulty finding anywhere else. Our family is so going to support this Centre, the Edmonton area could use more businesses that take a risk with something new and innovative. Its not all about consuming the most for the cheapest price. Is Walmart really the only world we want. read more

I really enjoyed going to Hole's but I love spending time at the Enjoy Cntr....I can't wait till the garden is done.

A group of us went for lunch at the Enjoy Centre Bistro today. We were all very disappointed!!! The menu had very little choice and what was there was very expensive for what we received!! Example - Bacon & Tomato Sandwich with Fries - $18.00 - outrageous!!!!! The floor of the restaurant is slick concrete and there and chipped out sections leaving holes (fits the name of the owner). We went to the Produce Department in the lower floor. Couldn't believe it - an organic Watermelon was $16.95, Apples were $4.95/lb. Way over-priced!!! Don't waste your time and money!!!!! read more

I love this place. The service is great (at all the shops and services) and I find it such a relaxing place to be. That was really the point of the place to being with, after all. We ordered a large quantity of soda from both Amaranth and Sandyview for our wedding at the end of the month, and everyone that we've dealt with has been pleasant and more than accommodating. I love coming in here just to have a wander, and we rarely leave empty handed. read more

Everytime I come here with my Significant Other, It makes me happy. From the healthy and local groceries, delicious oils and spices, amazing kitchen shop to the delicious and flavorful restaurant overlooking the country side and Big Lake. I love it here! Bistro staff are not very accommodating and often have an edge to them that makes you feel more like a nuisance. On the other hand, bakery staff are very friendly. Also, it's a shame that you can't choose your plants in the greenhouse. They have it roped off so you can't go in and they bring plants out onto tables in another room - not very cozy and fun. read more

I have been to Hole's Enjoy Centre a number of times and each time I have come away with a good impression. The first thing I noticed is that there always seems to be lots of knowledgeable staff around to assist. The inside atmosphere is clean, large, airy and bright. There are plenty of places to sit and relax, including some that are fairly private and at least one outdoor balcony that looks out over the wetland natural area north of the Centre. Outdoors the display areas for trees and shrubs and lawn furniture is laid out on a number of curving, sloped terraces which give it a bit of a roof top garden feel. I have always found Hole's prices a little higher than the big box stores, but their quality and service are second to none. A real advantage of Holes is the opportunity to find something unusual for yourself or as a gift. I purchased a 'balance beam mobile' lawn ornament but had a hard time choosing because of the variety. Whether the stock is from Holes themselves or a vendor leasing space in the Centre, the merchandise is good quality. For example their garden tools are equivalent to what you would expect at a Lee Valley store. read more

Great place to get flowers for my garden. They always have great selection. I do miss the old farm feel of their previous location but the architecture of the current space is breathtaking. I also like the grocery store downstairs. Reminds me of Whole Foods in the U.S. read more

The Enjoy Centre is a great place to spend an afternoon. I enjoy (haha) the restaurant and the ability to shop for a ton of beautiful plants at the same time. I was also impressed with the great service I received throughout the whole building, from the restaurant, to the nursery, to the grocery store. I first discovered the enjoy centre through the tomato, a free food magazine. I find that I go weekly. I really can't say anything bad, the staff is always helpful. They offer interesting samples in there deli. The bacon is amazing. I'm always discovering new products which I enjoy immensely. read more

Would put NO stars, were it an option. Not only did I call the center multiple times without any answer ON THE WEEKEND (when I would expect they'd have a body on the phones), when at the actual center itself, I could find no staff in sight to assist me! Does anyone even work there? I had to walk into the oil store to ask if there was anyone to help me with my planting needs. On top of that, there are no cashiers (or at least that is how it seems), standing in a line up of 10 people on a Saturday afternoon. I wonder if there really is truth to the rumors that the place is in financial dire straits. Very disappointed. read more

The facility is unique - the service suffers growing pains. In the restaurant, We ordered 2 soup and a flatbread for the grand kids, a glass of water, port, a beer and a glass of wine. The liquor was served within 15 minutes, no water and after approx 45 minutes the soup and flatbread was served to another table . We were told our order would be re submitted . .. Disappointed we requested our bill and left. .. It does however deserve a second chance read more

Came here for the Indie handmade sale and it was the first time to this facility. It is a beautiful building. I love the open and zen feel to this place. There's so much here with all the cute home décor and greenhouse. Wandering further you find a great restaurant and spa. The show itself was in a hall off the main entryway and everything was very organised and plenty of room to wander. The thing that was not so organised and a complete gong show was parking. I would think for a place this size they would have a bigger parking lot. Especially being out on the edge of town. People were parked all over the place and they had opened a field just south of the building to park but of course there were no markers or crowd control so once you went in you weren't sure you won't get blocked in. Maybe instead of an empty field they should expand the parking lot. But this was my first time coming and maybe this was a rare occurrence. read more

I miss the old Holes Greenhouse. This feels cold and pretentious. The high prices just aren't justified. I will go here occasionally in the winter to get my fix of light and a greehouse feel (when I am ready to spend 8.00 on a coffee. read more

First of all, the Enjoy Centre has nothing to do with Lois Hole except that it is her sons Jim and Bill Hole that own and operate it. They are businessmen, not gardeners or proponents of social equity like their mother. This is a commercial establishment, like many others, except that the goods sold, while generally of good quality, are more expensive than many other places. If you have a lot of money and enjoy the shopping experience more than bargains, shop here. read more

Really complicated pricing model for booking a wedding party, especially for a larger party (280+). 5-8k to rent the moonflower room with no A/C (additional 5-6k). For alcohol either pay them $7-10 per drink OR get your own alcohol and pay $18.45 per guest for providing bartender/cleanup (that's $5.5k for 300 guests). No in-house catering available instead they charge 15% fee on top of the catering bill from the outside. Included in the rental price are out of fashion hideous black banquet chairs. So that's at minimum paying $12-15k for use of space/power/bartender/clean up. After this pay for your A/C, catering, alcohol, decor etc. Now if they provided any kind of valuable service WORTH the price tag of $15K for one night, we would not mind paying at all. On top of that, it doesn't seem the management has improved much. Met with a young, impatient lady named Ashley for a tour. Off the bat she walked in rushing, and talked super fast. Didn't explain much, just went over table setup she could manage for the space. As soon as I asked her a question about pricing, she started getting less engaged, at one point, she literally had nothing to say to our question. As a manager, she should be trained well enough to tackle all questions. If we're giving you $15k, you should be mature enough to show us respect and answer our concerns. Instead in the middle of our tour she came off as if she just wanted to leave and not deal with us. We weren't rude or disrespectful to her, just had questions about the business model. Perhaps they should hire someone older (more experienced) or at least someone who is level headed that can engage in a mature business conversation! To add: they also really need to fix their communication setup. Whenever you email them - do not expect a reply for a few days! It's sad - such a beautiful space, but the management has not come up with a decent business model to run the place! read more

Glasshouse Bistro, nice ambiance, menu. Unfortunately our waitress couldn't be found to take our order and service went downhill from there. I grew up not far from the original Holes Greehouses and actually talked to Mrs. Hole quite regularly back in the day. She truly was a lovely woman! I had been to the Enjoy Centre last year shortly after it opened and thought that it was a fitting tribute to the spirit of Mrs. Hole and what she wanted to offer the people in her community. That said... I went back to the Centre today with my five year old daughter to take another look around and enjoy a quiet girls' day browsing their gardening supplies and making plans for our gardens. While we were there we decided to stop and have lunch. I have to say, $35 for a cup of soup, a grilled cheese sandwich for my daughter and a panini for myself is quite a hefty bill!! I realize that the reasoning is that they try to only use organically grown and/or locally sourced products but I don't think that putting such a premium on these items is the best endorsement of our local economy!! The seating is lacking and the staff had an average age of about 17 with the professionalism one would expect of that age. The greenhouse area is beautiful but I think the overall image of a centre that only caters to the upper echelon of income earners. The bakery downstairs is along the same lines with the average loaf of bread costing around $7 - $9!! I didn't bother looking around the grocery area as I can usually find similar items for a lot less money... Kind of disappointed!! read more

I was so excited to be heading for Edmonton and the chance to stop in at Hole's greenhouse! Was I in for a huge let-down! First - it was well past lunch time to I ordered up a bowl of soup and grabbed a drink from the cooler. $10????? If I could have returned it, I would have. Gigantic rip-off. Then to the plants . . . where are they, exactly? And when I found them, I must say there wasn't much to hold my interest. I have always counted on finding the odd/unusual things that no one else carried, but no such luck. And then - a deli??? What the heck is that about? If I wanted a deli, I'd go to one. And I wanted a greenhouse. So - five of us left empty-handed and headed out to the real greenhouses in the area. We managed to take in 5 greenhouses, buying plants at each and every one of them. And yes, we found the odd/unusual plants in those places. Needless to say, I won't waste my time in returning to Hole's. Those other greenhouses, however, can look forward to our return! read more
