We stumbled upon this Wine and Donut Pairing while out for my birthday. They had a bridal shower just before and the guests weren't great about their event ending and this one starting. So it felt quite awkward waiting for them to clear out. Better solving between the events would've been nicer or making sure the first event ended on time so others didn't feel awkward. The place is very charming, though rather small. But it's great for the small town charm it is going for. They have a great wine selection and even had bottles on sale that we bought a few of. The wine pairing was $25 per person and it came with 6 tastings and 6 donut holes. It was set up at the bar so you did have to leave your table each time and take your glass to be filled and grab the next donut. It would've been nicer if it would've been passed around and we could've stayed seated. They do have a cute front and side patio that would be nice to use in the cooler months in Houston. Overall a great little place to pop into with some family or girlfriends to laugh and relax a bit. read more

I visited this place at 4 PM, just when it opened so I had the whole place to myself. The location is great! There is ample outdoor seating. It's located between a burger joint and a taco place plenty of food options for the family. I sat indoors because it was so hot out. I could see myself taking my family here and sitting outside. The kids can get burgers or tacos while I can enjoy a glass of wine outdoors. The service was excellent. I was literally the only one there so I don't know how it is if it's busy. I ordered a bottle of Malbec for $40, which I feel like is overpriced, but not AS overpriced as some other places. I also ordered a charcuterie for $30, which again, I feel like prices are ok compared to other places. I didn't get anything else. I really enjoyed the charcuterie, except the trail mix part. I feel like this cheapened the look and the overall flavor-profile. I would have rather have roasted almonds in lieu of the trail mix. The almonds would complement the honey more than the trail mix they had. The place was clean while rustic, really cute. I could see inviting friends here to hang out and just enjoy wine. The bathrooms were also rustic in decor, but clean. I'm not sure about their toilet design. The "rust" in the toilet bowl kinda grossed me out. There were no changing tables, but then again, this is a wine place, not really for kids. Overall, I really enjoyed it and I would totally go back. Note, don't expect food -food at this place. If you want food-food with your wine, then I would go somewhere else. This place is wine first, food secondary. read more

We wanted to go to Christmas Movie Trivia. I called to make a reservation. No answer so I left a voicemail with the details. No one called back, so I called again the next day. I talked to a very sweet young lady who told me she was sorry but had not checked yesterday's messages. She said that they don't usually take reservations for that event but would ask her manager and call me back. She did call back to tell me that they don't take reservations for that event. So we went an hour early hoping to get seats, only to find the place full but a table for 10 being reserved. I was told no reservations. The bartender just looked at me like a deer in headlights and said "ok". We had a party of 8 that were very disappointed and had to find something else to do last minute. Not good guys. Won't go back. I only put one star because yelp makes you enter a star rating. Really should be zero. read more

Allow me to share with you my worst restaurant experience in recent memory: My wife and I went in last Friday night for the first time. I love wine, and the Empty Glass was close by, so we decided to give it a try. I arrived and sat at the right end of the bar, the bartender greeted us promptly and handed us menus. So far so good. I open up my menu and as I begin reading, ice cold water drips onto my head. I look up and the AC is leaking through the vent. No big; I'll just move. We move tables, and the bartender comes over with water. We had looked over the menu before arriving, so we were ready to order. The waitress informed me that they were sold out of Pizza, Chicken fried lobster (sounds interesting), and Hummus. No big, I had my heart set on pizza, but hey, it's 8:45pm on a Friday, so whatever. I order the Bruschettas. The bartender returns a minute later to inform me that it won't be on bread as they are out, but instead on crackers. I ask what kind of crackers, she goes to find out. She comes back, poppy seed crackers. Sounds fine. Not thrilled, but not upset. We order a $50 bottle of wine. Not insanely expensive, but it was clear to me that the bartender had never been taught wine service. She opened the bottle at the bar, didn't show me the label, couldn't open the bottle unless it was on the table (she opened it across from my table at the bar top). She offers that I taste the wine, which at this point is just a strange formality in a completely casual wine experience. It all just seemed rather odd. Bruschettas come. They are pretty good, even on the crackers. There were six, my wife and I split them, and we decided to order spinach dip. Waitress takes our order, comes back a moment later and informs me that there's no more chips in the house, and that the dip will be served with vegetables. I decline and ask if they can just serve it with those cheap poppy seed crackers they put our bruschetta on. She returns and tells me there are no more crackers.... I asked, well, can I just order Bruchetta again? She checks. Comes back. "No, we don't have that anymore either." Well, I'm now looking at a menu that is 75% unavailable. It's 9pm. Restaurant is still open for another two hours. Yelp friends, there's only few things that upset me when I'm dining out as much as a restaurant not having even half their menu available. But it's not just that. It's that I felt like the bartender and the kitchen were not communicating, or that they were just making it all up. It all felt very unprofessional. All in all. The wine was good, but I'm glad I didn't drop more that $50 because if I'm going to a wine bar, there's just a certain level of service I expect. I still tipped 20% because I didn't feel like the bartender let me down. Rather it's the management who clearly hasn't trained their staff nor knows how to keep food in stock on one of the busiest restaurant nights of the week. My wife and I aren't going back, and I don't recommend you waste much time here either. Could be we had just a bad luck of the draw. Could be that when they turned out the lights while we were still sitting on the porch was all just a series of unfortunate events that started with cold water dripping on my head and ended with my wife and I drinking $50 wine in darkness on the porch. What I do know is that I've never been to a wine bar, let alone a Chili's and bad this many problems in a single evening. 2/5 read more

If you call your self a wine bar, you should at least store the wine properly. The wine is not in coolers, it's stored in wine racks in the room, which is way too warm. I had the Malbec... it tasted like it had been opened a while, it was warm, and starting to turn. If you enjoy good wine, you may want to pass on this place. read more

We absolutely love going to see a great friend of ours when she sings there, but other than that we wouldn't probably visit. The food is very overpriced for the most part considering it is obviously frozen food quickly heated and plated. The service is generally very below average with the excuse of "being new" every time. Long waits between drink rounds and tabs are usually incorrect. We almost always call for a reservation in show night and every time we have arrived, we've been told there's no reservation. It's happened at least five times. Yes the wine is great, it's clean and the music is wonderful. The prices and service are honestly the largest turn off. Rather spend my money at the new tasting room down the road. read more

First visit to The Empty Glass was last night 7/24/21. A friend was playing the Saturday night music. Place was very busy but our server got our wine order out in about 2 minutes. We had a bottle of Cigar Box Malbec. It was a great choice. The only food served was a charcuterie board for $25. We were told we could order food next door and they would deliver up until to 8pm. We never ordered any food. The server also keep us supplied with carafes of ice water. Nice touch. Will go back again. A fun wine bar with great wine choices. read more

Used to love this place. Pricier but was always worth it. And I love supporting local businesses. However, my last experience there ruined it for me and we will not be back. I was served wine in a glass with heavy lipstick prints all over it. Fine, mistakes happen, but without missing a beat the bartenders remedy was to pour my wine into a new glass and make a joke. No apologies. No new wine. Same wine that was in the dirty glass poured into a clean glass with a chuckle about how I probably didn't want lipstick with my wine. Love this little place, I had a glass of Pinot after going to the courthouse to register my car. It was a Wednesday and they had karaoke which I thought was super fun. I didn't stay for karaoke but will definitely check that out soon, they were very nice but the reason I'm not giving the 5 stars is because they don't seem to be 100% with their wine knowledge. A lady asked about some Chardonnays and the bartender said she wasn't sure, and I also overheard them explaining to another bartender that cabs, Cabernet and Cabernet Sauvignon were all the same that people just called them differently and if you're working at a wine bar you should already know that. Something has happened to this establishment. We have been patrons of it for years, however our last two visits have been terrible. We always support Tomball businesses, but we're done with The Empty Glass. It has primarily been the service. In October, the place was packed but we found two seats at the bar. The server behind the bar, however, was unwilling to take our order, as he said he would pass it on to the young lady in the back. He was nice enough... but huh? The young lady in the back clearly had no training as she appeared extremely nervous. We waited some time for our wine, only to learn that they were out of wine glasses. They had to be washed. Let me get this straight--you're a wine bar but you have no wine glasses? Although I clearly view wine glasses on a bar shelf, they were out of glasses. A further irony was that she had the carafe of wine and one hand, while telling us she had no wine glass. Last night, we visited it for the first time since then. It was a Friday night and it actually appeared to be closed--not many cars in the vicinity and no crowds or people walking in or about. We walked inside and it felt like entering a mausoleum. That laid-back, friendly atmosphere was gone. Only about seven patrons were there, not including us. There were two servers behind the bar with their backs to us. Several minutes passed and no effort was made to view the area for new customers. The pair of them then walked back and forth behind the bar appearing to be greatly distracted, as they had yet to acknowledge us at our table. A third server appeared from the corner kitchen, but no effort on her part either. We waited several more minutes, but no one came to our table. The place was empty--three servers had an opportunity to take advantage of a great tip. We finally left. The Empty Glass has turned into the empty place. read more

My wife is the wine fan, but I'm just getting into it. This quaint little establishment tucked into Old Town Tomball can either be empty or packed on any given night. We've been here a few times and it's never quite the same except for a great selection of wines and some light munchies to accompany them. Last time we went they had karaoke going and a steady stream of older gents rocking the mic. It was pretty fun to watch as the night wound down and closing time approached.
