Room 33 has been one of our favorite Erie restaurants for many years. We love the whole vibe. The…read morefood and drinks are well made and thought out, the live music is always a nice touch to an evening out and the space is very well designed. Reservations are strongly recommended, especially when they have a band performing. My go-to dish is the short rib dish. The mashed potatoes are amazing and the short ribs are packed with flavor. On this particular visit, they were a bit skimpy on the au jus sauce (it's normally got a healthy laddle of pan sauce on the bowl) but that's okay. I did splurge for my birthday and get a slice of the peanut butter pie. It was super rich and exactly what peanut butter lovers want in a peanut butter pie.

We started with "the 33" and "Black Widow", but I swapped the tequila for mezcal and that was a good choice! The 33 was absolutely delicious...but they did run out of Penelope for the day. So, a second drink unfortunately didn't happen. We put our order in for food about 10 minutes after getting there. No joke, the food arrived almost an HOUR later. We had to ask the bartender what was up; there was no proactive alert as to when the food was arriving. That was off-putting. The food was very good. It's hard to get a pork chop right and they managed to achieve it. The sides were also delicious. My husband's steak was very good and the spicy crema that they put on top was a nice touch. The wait time for the food was unacceptable, honestly. Something should have been comped, but the bartender was too busy to notice. No water refill for close to 30-40 minutes either. We would return but definitely on a different day, when they maybe have more employees working in the kitchen. Or maybe just skip food altogether. *shrug*

Upon arriving, the hostess told us that the outdoor reservation actually means nothing and its first come first serve for seating. So, that wasn't great. As always, the space was great. The rooftop bar was fantastic - great weather and a live DJ made it a really fun place to hang out on a Friday night. The bar upstairs didn't have as good of a cocktail menu as inside, which was okay! We ordered our food directly at the bar. Black Smoke used to have a delicious BBQ inspired menu. They have recently updated their menu, and I wasn't impressed. We ordered the Mac and cheese croquettes, the steak flatbread, and the chips and dip. The Mac and cheese balls were good but they were very heavily seasoned with Italian seasoning - it was a little overpowering. I had heard great things about the steak flatbread - steak, goat cheese, caramelized onions, and fresh spring greens. The flatbread arrived and was cut into these little triangles and was stacked on top of eachother and the spring greens seemed like they were cooked on the pizza instead of sprinkled on after. This made the flatbread taste kind of swampy and completely negated the delicious onion and flat cheese combo going on. If you got a bite without the spring greens it was tasty. The chips and dip were the one thing I had no issues with. The chips were thick and homemade and the dip was creamy, oniony, and delicious! Overall, the bartenders were amazing, the drinks were good, and the vibes were top tier. I just won't be back for dinner any time soon.

This event is great! $45 gets you tastings (in your own glass given at entry ) of over 200 whiskies at various booths. It was jam packed but I never found waiting for a tasting to be an issue. Everyone was knowledgeable and excited to be there. I liked that you were given a glass. It cut down on waste which gets 5 thumbs up from me!

Lafayette was my favorite location because it was spacious. But Adams Mark was convenient because of its parking lot; even though me and my crew never drive during this lol. There's over 75 different types of liquor. I love whiskey and I'm not committed to one type. So this is the perfect event for people like me. Also, some of the distilleries offer more than just whiskey. There's usually scotch, gin, moonshine, and if you're lucky absenth (just a drop or in a mixed drink). I appreciate the fact that there's plenty of water at these events. The only thing I wish was there were more food/snack options. I've been to many wine tastings in the same venues and there's always cheese, nuts, crackers, and the occasional dip. At the whiskey fest you only have the option of paid food items that are over priced; you'd think there would be more with so much high proof alcohol. I did appreciate the coffee and donuts at the last one, but they were only available at the beginning. By the time you needed it, when you were about an hr into tasting and nearly drunk, snacks were nowhere to be found. I love that the vendors are always nice and knowledgeable. They even offer classes if you want further knowledge on specific topics. I also like that most vendors sell their products, but are very professional about it. Meaning if you really like something you can buy it, but they are not pushing products on you where you feel uncomfortable and inclined to buy. At about $45 for unlimited tasting, I definitely suggest trying it if you enjoy your dark liquors. I also suggest catching an uber/lyft, or having a DD. Oh...and bring snacks
