A must-stop on Main Street if you're in Fredericksburg for breakfast. I had the German pancakes…read morewith a ham and two eggs. The pancakes are the thin, crêpe-style kind, served with fresh lemon and powdered sugar the traditional way, and they hit the spot. We also ordered homemade bread and biscuits with a bowl of sausage cream gravy, a great Texas-German combo. The bread is clearly baked in-house, hearty and fresh. Save room for the bakery cases on your way out. The selection is huge: almond bows, poppy seed danish, apple strudel, sour cream puffs, turnovers, soft pretzels, kolaches, sausage-jalapeño rolls, cinnamon and nut rolls, and stollen already out for the holidays. The $7 box of day-old pastries is a great deal if you want to take a variety home. The atmosphere is old-school and unpretentious, exactly what you want from a German bakery in the Hill Country. Highly recommend for breakfast, and for stocking up on pastries for the drive home.

Coffee, omelet, biscuits and gravy, eggs and German pancake were all great! I highly recommend the biscuits and gravy, and the German pancake. To go we purchased pretzels, cookies and other bakery items. Everything was delicious! We will definitely be back.

Sauerkraut Balls. The perfect opener. Five golden spheres with a shattering panko crust give way to…read morea savory filling of sauerkraut and sausage, tangy and rich at the same time. A whole grain mustard crème fraîche is drizzled over the top and pooled underneath, and a swoosh of bright herb oil around the plate cuts through the fried richness. It's bar food elevated, and it pairs well with a cold beer. Duck Schnitzel. This is the dish people drive to Fredericksburg for, and it earns the reputation. A hand-breaded duck breast is fried to a deep golden crust and crowned with a sunny-side-up egg, its yolk begging to be broken. Underneath is a hearty plate: käsespätzle on one side, sweet-tart braised red cabbage on the other, and a glossy kirsch demi-glace studded with whole dark cherries tying it all together. Duck and cherry is a classic pairing, and here it gives the schnitzel a depth you won't find in a standard pork version. It's rich and generous, and it's best shared with someone hungry.

Excellent dinner choice while traveling through the area. Came on a Wednesday with a 4:30p…read morereservation and were the only guests there. Ambiance is intimate and quiet. Lots of natural lighting. Candle on the table and nice dishware elevated the ambiance. Started with the sauerkraut balls for appetizer. Lovely. I'm a skeptic with fried foods and the breading was light with a large portion of kraut and sausage inside. The mustard crema balanced it nicely. If I come back, I'll ask for a couple of pickles with it. Entrees: we ordered a wurst plate and a duck schnitzel to share between two adults. It was the perfect balance of richness with homemade vinegar sides to balance. Service was warm and professional. Exactly what I expect for the price point. Waiter was knowledgeable about the food and pleasant without being too involved (given that we were the only table at the time). Waters were never dry and the seating was comfortable. We didn't drink but it would be a nice place to hang with a cocktail. Impressive drink menu.

After a very busy day I decided to visit one of my favorite little cafe ' Vivell and Crepes. I…read moreordered a few items one was the carrot cake and I got the baklava with a side order of Chi Latte! Let me start with saying the carrot cake was absolutely to die for it wasn't overwhelmed with cinnamon or overwhelmed with too much frosting it was absolutely perfect for the occasion. Wanted to chill out today so the ambiance here outdoors was absolutely perfect in 70s degrees I love it. Also the baklava was delicious but I wouldn't say one of my favorites I would say that the baklava didn't have enough of the honey flavor it was more or less pretty plain and I showed you in the picture pretty much what I bit into. But overall the taste was amazing also so I couldn't have been happier. Now comes the Chai Latte! Bravo it was nice and hot just like I like it the cha latte was favorable regarding the spice that I love granted it wasn't overwhelmed with the spices but perfect then again that's why this place is my very favorite. So when I'm feeling down or run down or even overworked I come here. Great hangout if you want to meet other people or just love the evening and enjoy the food is incredible now I came here just for the desserts. The Vivel and Crepes are very popular in this location. Give it a try, you will love the atmosphere and ambiance!
