The food was mediocre at best but the worst part was our waitress. Just another example of wonderful ethnic home cooked meals in N E Ohio. Very reasonably priced authentic Italian food. Thier twist on making pizza their own is the swiss cheese blend they use along with their mouth watering homemade sauce and yummy crust no wonder it's one of the favorite pizza's in the local area! They can get extremely busy at dinner time, especially on Fridays. Of course like many favorite Valley restaurants they have a delicious fish special on Fridays! Been here twice once before a concert at the cellar and once before meeting some friends out. Been going to the Elmton for 40 years and can't say anything bad about it. Unique excellent pizza unlike any other! Along with an overall menu that's very good as well as affordable. Occasionally a server that May seem un caring, but in actuality they're usually overwhelmed. I've noticed if they can't cut it, they usually don't last long. This pizza is an aquired taste. Not your traditional pie. It's a quality pie with quality ingredients, but they use a blend of Swiss and provolone on their pizza. The addition of Swiss gives it a weird smell, which I wasn't used to. The crust is nice and crispy. Pizza is on the greasy side. They have specials on pizza on Monday and Tuesday. I wouldn't come here again, mainly because I wasn't accustomed to the overpowering smell of the Swiss cheese. read more

They need to rename this place "the surly waitress ". The food here is ok, and I genuinely love the chicken wings. The pizza is overrated and inconsistent; sometimes It's been good, other times I've felt the grease congealing in my stomach after one slice. The thing that is consistent is the consistently slow, terrible service. Three of us once waited and hour for lunch when the place was empty. The last time I was there a server dropped pizza on my husband and actually blamed him for it because he put his coat ....on the coat hook. We discovered this place about 7 years ago and it's always a favorite in my household. They have great pizza. And they have a full bar. It has a different taste to it & the crust is so good! Also their broasted chicken dinners with jo-jo potatoes are very good. I've also had the cavatelli before & fish dinners. Both are very good! There are a very few restaurants that when I tell someone about them, that I can't get it out of my mind and have to go. This is one. Elmton Pizza. I am not a true pizza lover BUT I am with this one. I usually don't order the pizza there to dine in but I always order one to go and have it for meals or snacks all week long. Interior: It's a bar with a medium sized seating area. Tables are quite close together which makes an adjacent table's conversation your conversation. It's not cramped but don't expect a private dinner experience. It's clean & well kept but hasn't had an update in style in several decades. Exterior: Building & parking are clean & well maintained. Parking lot is a good size but spaces are close together. It's best to park across the street to avoid the congestion & elderly drivers. 2 dinged up cars & a near miss while walking have taught me this. Food (eating in): Mixed drinks are hit or miss depending on who's tending bar. Too strong, watered down or just right is subjective and depends on the bartender's skill. Beer is cheap & cold & a good selection of liquors. Appetizers are like any other bar food at any other place. Pasta is no different than what you could buy at a grocery store. Sauce is decent but nothing special. Chicken is pretty good, try it. Pizza... If you think it's the best you've ever had then you haven't had good pizza. Topping amounts are good, dough is basic and the sauce is nothing to write home about. You could make equivalent or better at home. It's the best pizza shop in Struthers (there's only 2 others not counting the chain shops) but not the best ever. (Take out): Expect your order to be wrong in some way. Missing items, wrong toppings, someone elses order entirely.. just accept that it is going to happen. All the hype about this restaurant is not based on the quality of the food, the atmosphere or the service. It's nostalgia. It's been here forever & people were brought her by their grandparents & parents when they were young. They went there after the football game or band competition. It's a place for family & friends. We've been getting pizza and chicken here for numerous years. The only thing this place has going for it is that the pizza and chicken are good and people remember it from high school days. You can't order more than 45 minutes ahead of time and 4 out of 5 times they screw up the order. Which is bad enough, but what really gets me is that they don't care one bit about their customers.
