I never wrote a review? I really like this place. Wedsday is $6.00 12" pizza, comes with green peppers. They also have Brier Hill and White, your choice of the three. Wings for .35 on Tuesdays. And a honking huge lasagna for $7 on Sundays, just ask for it browned, sometimes it comes out room temperature. They got really really good food. A wraparound bar, plenty of tables and chairs for groups. And a nice fenced in outdoor patio. The place gets four out of five stars, the pizza crust is nicely raised, cooked to a gold brown. Really exactly my favorite kind of pizza pie crust. Chewy and just thick enough. And the pizza comes with plenty of cheese, and sauce that is tangy/sweet and just enough, not too much. In the end, a nice place, really friendly staff, really GOOD FOOD, and good drink specials and happy hour. Recommended as a good place to go if you are just in town for a short visit, or you have lived here for years and want that chewy tasty cheesy tangy pizza pie! Feb 24 2020... Added a couple pix. I'm giving Tangier Bar & Pizza one star for their food. Although Tina, the waitress, was a good at her job, the food was not up to par. Unfortunately, Belleria, in Struthers, was closed on May 25, 2025. So we ended up here. I sampled their sauce. It was bitter and lumpy with tomato seeds. I do NOT like lumpy sauce, so I was limited in what to order. I settled for a breaded chicken salad. It was made from bagged garden salad you buy at the grocery store, with nothing but yellow and white pieces of lettuce and tons of purple cabbage. The chicken was fried in old oil and tasted like old grease. Their Italian dressing was not Italian but a balsamic vinaigrette. I should have sent it back, but I did not. (Although, I did tell her about the chicken issue.) My husband and son's side salad was made with fresh lettuce and tons of mozzarella cheese. If my salad looked like their side salad, I would only complain about the over-fried chicken strips. Some birthday dinner for me. I am home cooking my own meal because I left there hungry. Beware... the pizza comes with peppers and they will not make any exceptions nor will they correct or acknowledge their errors. The manager enthusiastically told us they have made pizza with peppers since 1951. I guess we were supposed to know that but it certainly isn't written on the menu. The first time we ordered a pizza, it came with peppers. We accepted the blame for that one. We ordered a second time explicitly requesting no peppers on the pizza. We got the pizza home... it had peppers. I called them and told them, they took down our name and "put it on the board." (I believe this to be a fictitious board because they had no record of the error or the phone call only 2 weeks later) We went to Tangier today and told the very helpful waitress what happened. She was accommodating and kind. The manager, however, was arrogant, argumentative and confrontational. He told us that he would not replace the pizza since it just came with peppers. It has always been that way since 1951 (he told us that quite loudly) and then accused us of trying to get a free pizza. Honestly, I expect more from a "mom & pop" place like Tangier. I do hope the owner sees this and sends the manager back to remedial customer service school. read more

Called 3x they kept hanging up. I thought it was just my phone. Ordered online and got two pickup times via text so I called again. Carla put me on hold for five minutes and never came back. Food took 15 minutes longer than pick up time, but there were only six customers inside and employees just standing around talking. My wife was inside to pick up, they made her go outside in the rain to another door, instead of just going in the kitchen to get it. We found Tangier during the the March shutdown and we've loved them since. We often get their fish fry on Friday - big piece of fish, great sides such as mac and cheese or haluski with quick and easy pickup. We also really like their pizza and wings. We are from upstate NY so we've been very disappointed in most wings in this area but Tangier's are about as close to the real thing as we've had. Their pizza is one of the better bets in the Valley as well - good sauce and nice selection of toppings. We usually pickup but they have a wide delivery area that extends well beyond Struthers so worth a try if you are craving a good fish fry! read more

Yesterday I placed an order online on their website. One of the items I ordered was the lasagna. I also placed it for delivery. Now after I placed my order I received a Facebook message asking if I ordered today, which was weird.. why wouldn't they call me to verify? I answered yes and asked if everything was ok with my order. After getting no response back and waiting an hour for my food, I called them. They proceeded to tell me that "first of all we have no delivery drivers today. Second of all we no longer have lasagna. And third of all there's no delivery address on your order." Ok.. first of all I chose delivery because I had a sick kid at home, but I would have picked up if needed. Second of all why do you have it on your menu available to order then if you no longer serve it? And third of all yes there was. It's on my receipt. I said fine can you just cancel my order and refund me? She tries and says the computer isn't letting her refund it. So she will have to call the owner and call me back. Ok. I wait. And wait. After an hour I hear nothing back. I call again. The woman on the phone says the original person I spoke to will call me back in 5 minutes. Ok... another hour goes by and nothing. By this time it's around 730, I've heard nothing, and my kid is starving. I end up ordering something else. And I decide to wait until the next day, today. I call this morning and explain my situation. She says I'll call the supervisor and he will call you within 45 minutes... more waiting.. after 2 hours no one calls me. I call for 4th time to resolve this and get my $81 back. She again tells me that the supervisor is out delivering an order and he will call me. I tell her I've been calling since yesterday and no one is calling me back or trying to resolve this. I feel like they are giving me the runaround. She says I'm sorry I'm not even in the facility and I can't do anything else for you. After work I drive there and speak to someone telling them I'm frustrated because I spent $81 and got no food and no one is helping me. I just want my money back. He apologizes and gives me cash. So I did get my money back but the service, or lack of service, was awful and I will never order here again. If they would have just called me back and gave some effort in resolving this, I wouldn't be so upset and frustrated. But I had to call 4 times and eventually physically go there just to get my money. read more

I really want to give this place a good review. I'm from Youngstown but no longer live here and I was really craving Youngstown pizza. Well on a Monday, anything I really would have wanted was closed (Elmpton, Uptown, etc) this place happen to be close to where we were headed and meeting a friend so went there. I used to come here but tonight the food was decent so the review is mostly based off of the lady behind the bar who actually didn't end up servicing us at all. Long story short, we were hanging out at table having some drinks and the server brought the check and we continued to hang after paying bill. She had moved on and clearly didn't want to keep waiting on us as we didn't even ask for the check but whatever. So first complaint, bringing the check when we weren't really ready to leave. Second, we move to the bar since we had closed out with her and once that happened, lady with short hair and bright striped sideways bangs looked at us twice while behind the bar but clearly saw us and it's not busy . We just wanted one more. Anyways she doesn't say hey I'll be right with you but I think I hear her say to someone else something along the line of what are they trying to make things hard on everybody. Well mam, no we were closed out because I figured the server wanted to leave. Sooo after this, I'm like let's just leave, clearly no one wants to wait on us and I'm not too sure why. However, I was disappointed Monday (around 11am/ noon) when I called to place a delivery- this business does advertise delivery. I was turned down, according to the man on the phone, because "we hired a delivery driver, he worked one day, and never came back, and we never hired anyone to replace him." (TMI to give to potential customers!) After being told this, I had tried to offer a large cash tip to make a delivery to Sexton street for a friend who was homebound. He still said no. Never have I ever heard of (or worked for) a business turning away money due to lack or organization and planning. You just 'make it work'. They lost $40 worth of sales that day. I ordered a pizza from Tangiers and they said the price is $9.75. The website says $8.75 and when I got to the counter the menu taped to the counter in front of the pizza window says $8.75. The girl insisted that the price has gone up to $9.75. I told her that they should not have signage that says different and she just rolled her eyes. I feel it is my responsibility as a regular here to tell people considering this establishment exactly what to expect here. This is a mom and pop bar/ restaurant, they specialize in food, great homemade Italian food. That being said the service aspect of the bar doesn't run as smoothly, there's a high turnover rate and they are usually understaffed. There are a couple of really great servers that have worked there for a while now but I'll be surprised if they stay. I have heard that one server will be there open to close as the ONLY server for the day. I go there all the time because their food is amazing, their kitchen is open till 2:00 am, and they are super cheap. It's hard to find good staff and especially when your menu is cheap and not a lot of people tip so well around here. Give this place a try and be patient with the service, I promise you it's worth it. read more

If my dinner buddy were writing this, it would have gotten a 3, but my experience was better. We both had Friday fish with coleslaw. He had pirogies and I had Mac and cheese. We both agreed that the fish was a solid 4. His pirogies were drenched in cheap oil (not butter) and it really turned him off. The coleslaw wasn't very cold. My mac and cheese was VERY hot (that's a feat in and of itself), but only average taste. Price was about $12/ meal. It's a bar with a bar kitchen. Anyhow, she didn't make me wait for very long, so I proceed to tell her I want to place an order, she abruptly stops me and says I need your telephone number first, so I give it to her...3 digits in, she stops me...I have a 412 area code and apparently that blew her mind. She feels the need to ask me where I'm calling from, as if I'd be ordering a delivery from Pittsburgh or something...idiot anyhow, I tell her I'm local, then she again puts me on hold. About 30 seconds later, some guy gets on the phone. Umm...okay? This guy was a real piece of work and the real reason why this is getting 2 Stars. I tell him I want the steak dinner. This clown thinks I'm ordering a strip steak sandwich, so I clarify I'm ordering the 14oz Sirloin, he catches on and says okay, so then I order the Grilled Chicken Breast, this guy says everything on it? I'm like what? On what? The Chicken Breast? He says the "Diablo" comes with etc; I tell him I'm not ordering a Diablo, I'm ordering the Chicken Breast. He tells me I know what you're trying to order, trust me...I've been here a while. I say, no...you're clearly not understanding me, you're talking about a sandwich, I'm looking at the menu right now, what I'm trying to order is from the DINNERS portion of the menu. Had a coupon so got two 12" pizzas and 2 liter for $15, no toppings just cheese. It's like $1.25 for every topping you want to add. We get one regular cheese and one pepperoni. Got it delivered. Kinda pricey. Pizza sucked ass. Besides the fact that it wasn't cut well, the bread crust was chewy and there was too much cheese. I love cheese just as much as the next guy, but it didn't taste right. There were exactly 5 pepperonis on the pepperoni pizza. They put peppers and onions in the pizza sauce, which sounds good, but tasted off, like the wrong onion or something. Also sauce was bad too. I love pizza, I did not like this pizza I ordered at all. My wife hated it, she states, "it was just bad, it was like a pizza slop, like it had the ingredients for a pizza, but it was bad". My son, who loves pizza, would not eat it after one taste. If I could give this place a 0 I would! Ive been to this place several times, and would love to love this place and because I want this place to just do better I'm going to tell you a little story. I find it hard to believe the kitchen manager cant replace a quart of soup. The manager doesn't have the authority to take old soup back because it taste like someone dumped a bucket of salt in it and give me new fresh soup and I have to call back after 5! Seriously! I have the old soup, I'm more than happy to give it back. I had surgery and needed some soup in my fridge so I can heat it up on my own. Do yourself a favor and just go to Lavilla. The time I was there before I ordered a well done burger even specifically explained it needed to be well done. It was served to me medium or less, most of the time I get take out and don't want to go back. So whatever I'll just deal.
