First time visiting to celebrate a birthday, and the restaurant was much bigger than I expected. Parking is pretty limited -- your options are either the small lot, a darker area behind the building, or nearby residential streets. The portions are HUGE! We ordered appetizers, and about 10 minutes later our entrees came out too, which felt a bit rushed. There was so much food that we couldn't even finish half of it. I ordered the salmon pesto and absolutely loved it -- tons of flavor and really delicious. For dessert, we had the butter cake, and it was amazing. Overall, I'd recommend giving this place a try. I'd definitely come back to sample more dishes.

Food was great had the bacon wrapped date appetizer! And the rib eye entree! Zero complaints! Service was spot on! Ambiance was what you would expect of a sports bar restaurant! Lots of seating! I would definitely come back!

I passed this place for years. Finally tried this place out with reservations. This place gets really packed. Parking can be difficult to find, pending on the hours you arrive. Parking is tight, meaning if you have a large truck it can pose a problem to fit in the tight spaces that are provided. Checked in with the front host. Wait time was 15 minutes. We were greeted and seated at our tables. The ambiance was very nice. Since this is a South Africa establishment, you had some type of sense you were in the Saraha. Ordered drinks of Beer and cocktails. Delivered to us in 5 minutes. Prompt service! Ordered Beef Straganov and Beef Pot Pie. Entrees did not dissapoint! All was fresh and delicous. The portion size were very large! You get what you pay for at this restaurant! Big Kudos to Aiden! He was a fantastic server. Great customer service. He always checked up on us. I highly recommend this place. I will definitely be back. My to go spot for now on. Great food and Service! Large establishment.

The Eldo has a super fun and casual vibe. Their menu really does have something for every palate, making it a great place to gather with friends, family, and more. It gets pretty loud because of the crowds, but it's still a nice and fun ambiance. My friend and I tried the Shrimp au Gratin, and it was amazing!! I would definitely get this appetizer again. For the main, we shared the ribeye after all the rave reviews. It was a very good steak, and the onion rings were amazing! The veggies were nothing to write home about, but we figured we better get some veggies in. We also tried the Malva Butter Cake, and it was HUGE. Delicious, and would've loved even more of the drizzle. They do take reservations. Also, they have big screen TVs for the various games. Can't wait to come back!

Haven't been here in person for a couple years so me and my husband decided to come visit on Valentine's Day! And it didn't disappoint. I've always wanted to try the pretzel with beer cheese and it tasted so fresh. We also had fried zucchini also delicious. My husband always enjoys the steak here and I like to order the salmon plate. Both dishes came out great and as a special treat we had the butter cake a must try if you visit. Service was good and heaters were outside so you didn't feel the cold outside air until you left. Parking is a hit or miss. It's not a big parking lot but there is street parking in the neighborhood right next to it with a wall cut out to walk through.

The Eldo was pretty cool, I like the overall look, it has a very modern look and the food was pretty tasty as well. There were about 9 of us for a Birthday dinner; the servers were on top of the service and making sure our orders were in. The only thing that I did not like is that I could not do a substitution for the peas that came on the side of the shepherd's pie. I would give the shepherd's pie a (8/10) . It was very tasty. For my drink I ordered a French 57, which tasted somewhat like skittles, and I loved it. The Eldo would be good for a date night, groups a family dinner night, don't forget to go next door and get ice cream and cookies after.

We walked in without reservation and they make us sit right away on a Saturday night. Place was happening, ambiance was chill and everyone was in their own element. They got cool outside patio too. Food was simply delicious. We tried Mediterranean Salmon, lamb shank, and Malta butter cake for dessert and everything was great. All dishes tasted delicious and was made it to its perfection. Really love this place and we will be coming back soon.

The Eldo is a bar/pub with South African flavors and it's located off Studebaker and Spring in Long Beach, across the street from El Dorado Park. I came for happy hour on a weekday and they offered $2 off appetizers. I got sliders, veggie samosas, and a side of fries. I feel that the sliders tasted great. The buns were light and nicely buttered, they came with a "pink sauce", and the beef and caramelized onions nicely rounded out the burger. The samosas were my favorite item of the meal. It packed flavors that you don't normally get in an Indian-style samosa. Maybe because they serve the samosas with sweet chili sauce rather than chutneys; however, I would order it again. As for the fries, I felt that they were crispy; however, I felt as if it had an aftertaste that I didn't enjoy. If I get fried dishes, then I'd probably go with onion rings; however, I think that I'd like to try more of their South African offerings as they're unique!

The food was on point and our waitress was excellent. I don't order chicken often but really wanted to try something I have never had. So I ordered the Peri Peri chicken and informed it would be spicy so I had the sauce placed on the side. Ribeye was juicy and is a must try for sure. Stopped by to try this out after golf. We came around 5pm on a Sunday and the wait was about 45 minutes. It didn't seem packed due to seeing a good amount of empty tables but we didn't question it and waited. We got seated outside where they're were only about 4 heater lamps. Definitely not enough to cover all tables, or the one we sat in. The South African food was delicious, however anything that was considered bar/pub food was mediocre. I enjoyed the lamb samosas, and prawn curry the most. We also tried the fries which was a pretty small basket for what it cost, and the steak nachos. The cheese was a weird light orange color, not sure what it was made of. My biggest critique would be the service. When my friend asked for steak sauce and a box to go, multiple servers forgot and ended up giving us other peoples items. Our main server was apologetic on their behalf, but it seemed like the restaurant was low on staff. I would definitely give this place a try again, and would stick to the South African dishes.

My son found The Eldo for his bday dinner. He wanted to make sure he could watch the Final Four games and this spot has a lot of TV's! I made a reservation for a party of 10 the day before and was accommodated with the stipulation that everyone ordered entrees per the manager. I'm not sure how they would dictate that as it wasn't stated again upon being seated; but it was not an issue. The waitress was on her JOB and managed our party well. Everyone enjoyed their food except my friend that ordered the filet, she wanted MedWell; but got MedRare...they re-did the whole meal. It's a cool vibe here with a large indoor/outdoor space that includes a covered patio. Now parking kinda sucks once the lot is full; but we parked off Spring St. I will definitely return.

Went here Saturday and I can't stop thinking about this meal, It was DELICIOUS! The steak was cooked to perfection and everything was just amazing, perfect date night spot! The crew was great as well, we received overall outstanding service We also added cheese bread and a side salad to the steak dinner and the salad was huge! First off, if you haven't been here before... GO!! I normally don't write too many yelp reviews unless the establishment really catches my attention. Well the Eldo did just that! I came in with a few friends and I believe our waitress was Bree. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and was very tentative to make sure everything arrived on time. I started with the wings and then ordered the Filet Mignon. The wings were perfectly cooked and the filet melted right in your mouth! We will definitely be coming back here again!! read more

Love coming here. Had the smoked salmon for an app. Really good. Seems it should be a salad choice but delicious. For entree, had the Durban curry prawns. Soo good! Great flavor. I dumped all the ingredients in (coconut shreds, bananas, onion/tomato mix) into the shrimp curry and it was delicious. Rice was perfect and not dry. As for ambiance, patio is intimate and perfect setting. Our server bailey was great! read more

Always love the eldo. The food and drinks are always delicious. The ability to choose between sitting in the nice outdoor patio, the retained inside or the bar area gives lots of options. If you want to go watch a game and have drinks with friends, have a nice dinner with a significant other. You have your options. Will always recommend read more

Great spot, very reasonable. Great selection of beer. The food has a distinct Indian/British flavor. Very good service. It's definitely a bar atmosphere, but you can choose between bar side or restaurant. Several large TV monitors throughout building. read more

Pros: Service OK (but just OK) Cons: Mediocre food, slow, noisy, food served slightly cold This place must make their money from the bar side, not from the dining. While the service was decent, everything else was just OK or slightly below average. The atmosphere is noisy because it is a bar. They have a dining area, but there is no sound barrier (wall) between the two. We moved to the patio which reduced the noise quite a bit, but you could still hear the bar. It took about 30 minutes for us to get our food, and when we did my food was slightly cold. We ordered the Duran curry chicken and the peri peri chicken. Each of us tasted the other's food. Both dishes were over spiced, so I could not taste the food. I do usually like food hot and spicy. They did make a decent effort to heat my food up and get it back to me swiftly when we complained the food wasn't hot. Overall too much wrong for me to come back. read more

First time there since the new owners have taken over. The manager, Brian, and did meet one owner Trevor, were there. When we arrived Brian greeted us at the door and after we looked around at the newly remodeled, and beautifully done may I add, restaurant and bar, we were seated We ordered chicken strips and fish and chips from our very outgoing and extremely attentive server Kelly. While we waited for our food, Brian answered all of our questions as to some of the new menu items. He also took the time to look up something on the menu on Google so he was able to answer our question in detail. When our food arrived it was hot and freshly cooked. The chicken strips were unbelievably cooked perfect. The outside was crisp on the outside, and the chicken inside, was seasoned and not overcooked at all. Moist without being greasy. The chicken strips were cut to order and not frozen. The Cajun mayo is very tasty sauce with some heat. The fish, was Swai. A white fish that is from Vietnam which is very moist. The fish was not dry at all, very flaky and the coating was delicious. Crunchy but not crisp or overcooked. It was served with great tarter sauce and malt vinegar. Their french fries were steak fries, crispy and hot. After this great meal we had to try a desert. We tried their Milk Tart. After that meal, we had to split our desert. It's a South African cinnamon custard pie, which is the owners mothers recipe. Served with whipped cream and fresh strawberries. It did not disappoint. If you have never been to the El Dorado before, you need to go, and if it was one of your favorite hangouts, you need to go in and have a meal and checkout how beautifully decorated it is and their new patio area. You will not be disappointed. We can't wait to go back tomorrow and try something very different, like their Boerewors, their homemade traditional South African sausage. read more

I love the Eldo. Came here a few years ago and enjoyed sister's birthday in the patio. Live Music is so great. Diners dance and have fun for hours. Second time came back for another family/group outing. Third time came with my love for a date night. It's got such a nice neighborhood feel. Price is high if you start ordering bottle of wine, filet mignon, etc. Life is short! read more

Ok so it was loud!!!!!! I guess if your young you won't mind but being older it was hard to hold a conversation. But the food was wonderful. I ordered the lamb shank with mash potatoes and vegetables. It was very good! All of the other meals were good too. My friend though wasn't thrilled with the chicken pot pie. We also ordered an appetizer of wings that were good too. Prices were great! Service not so good but we would definitely go back again. read more

This place is amazing! I went with my husband and our two friends who are from South Africa and they said they felt like they were back home after they tasted El Dorado's food. If you want a good waitress/bartender ask for Alison. She was very attentive and made sure we were happy the whole time we were there. It is rare to find someone so dedicated to customer service. We went to the Eldo for the first time for dinner. The place is quite popular and was busy. We had a very attentive waitress. We received our drinks and appetizer quickly. Our main entrees took a long time but we didnt care because we had a great appetizer and some cocktails. Eventually our waitress came out explained a glitch/error and said that they would make it okay. After our meal, Kevin came out and gave us a dessert and apologized for the wait. They went out of their way to make amends for the long wait which didn't bother us in the first place. They ultimately provided the dessert for free and gave us 10% off of our total bill which we appreciated. I had the Tiger Giants, my husband had the Rib Eye, both were excellent. Had lunch there with some co workers the food was amazing. We started with the sampler appetizer which had a lot of food on it. I had the lamb patty burger which comes with fries & coleslaw. The other guys had the Boerewors Roll it a Homemade traditional South African sausage, served in a French roll with a side of traditional tomato & onion sauce plus the Chicken Peri-Peri it's grilled chicken breast coated with a spicy homemade South African Peri-Peri sauce, served with fries and coleslaw. The place has be totally remodeled with South Africa touches throughout there is a wild boar , water buffalo etc mounted on the walls. They have also added a patio to the front of the building. I would of gave it 5 stars but it is missing the beer. The owner said he is hoping to get his license by the 12th of July. read more

I'm a strong beaver believer in which if you don't have anything good to say than don't say anything at all. Well folks i absolutely love this place. Wish I didn't have to drive to so oc. I could of stayed there all night. Bailey was awesome..the place had some good energy. The band was entertaining. Food was not what I expected.. the sausage was great and the little fluffy appz... ... get rid of the fat food... fries!! Way over portioned! And the mountain of mashed potatoes on my friends steak. This restaurant has an interesting twist on a few of the food items. I ordered the Ox burger. It was pretty good. My pops ordered the pork chops they were extremely large stuffed and were fire. I will come back again to try out the happy hour deals. Nice little selection of IPA's. read more

The Eldorado is the return of your local bar and restaurant with a great atmosphere and food. This place has it all. If your looking of a quiet late lunch or early dinner 4 to 6 pm is time to good. What to a catch a Dodger game (or any televised sporting event) over dinner or drinks 6 to 7 pm. They carry all sporting events on both Dish & Time Warner cable, if your team isn't on when you arrive, just ask! Want to have a few drinks, appetizers or dinner while listening to a band play, 9 to 11 pm weekend nights is your time. The food is a step above any I've had, with South African flair. The Peri-Peri chicken wings have a unique flavor that are far better than any I've tasted. The Lamb Burger beyond a doubt is the best burger around, it's flavorful and juicy. Even better, on special occasions they'll roast an entire lamb or pork and prepare special dinners know as "Trevor's Specials", The service is great. The servers are friendly and are helpful with any request. Our favorite Stephanie, is a pleasure and makes dinner and a game a pleasure. If you get a chance to meet the owner, Trevor, you'll instantly recognize him by his smile and that he loves what he does. It might sound like I got stock in the "Eldo", but that ain't the case, I grew up in a restaurant and know good food and service. read more

Love the food here! The boerewors roll is my favorite, a meal on its own. Also great are the curries, (lamb & shrimp), and the lamb shank is spectacular. Adding some South African beer would raise this place to an exceptional home from home dining experience! Prices are reasonable, with the service friendly & helpful. Live music is usually good, and atmosphere is always welcoming. Absolutely worth a visit! read more

While sitting in the dinner section of the Eldo the service and food is always good to great. Keep up the good work. If your looking for a beer and a appetizer at the bar your patience is going to be needed. Service is poor to horrible. Unless your a regular at the bar your not important. Went today. Had a brunch at the bar. Great atmosphere, chattin it up with the gents sittin there. Tried wings from scratch with blue cheese from scratch... Might have been the best version of my favorite naughty snack EVER. GO HERE to support more local business. Bloody Mary not 1/2 bad. read more

The atmosphere is sports bar/dining room. They also have an outdoor patio that is dog friendly. We had some great cocktails to start at very reasonable prices. Next was the meal....awesome food! A huge PERFECTLY cooked ribeye, melt in your mouth for $24 came with 2 large sides and then my wife's dish. 6 giant prawns over rice, served with amazing house salad and coleslaw. Definitely eating here again! read more

Anything on the menu is out of this world. They have come a long way. It gourmet stuff they are serving! Great quality meat/ingredients! Unbelievable flavors and big portions. This is my neighborhood bar/restaurant. The food is very good but not sure how healthy it is. If you come during happy hour you can get fish and chips and a glass of wine for under $10. Everyone is nice except this one male bartender. I love the curry prawns. It's enough for two meals for me and warms up nicely in the oven. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurant / bars. Can't believe I lived in the area for 20 years before checking it out. Not impressive from the outside, but the inside is a cozy neighborhood bar and grill. Staff is great, good drinks and plenty of beers on tap to choose from. For Green Bay Packer fans, it turns into a littl if Green Bay for football games. I have taken clients there for lunch, crowd is usually light, but the food is just as good. Food choices are standard plus a South American influence to choose from. Wife and I love their Durban Prawn Curry. Always enough sauce/rice left to take home and add to eggs the next day. You'll definitely be back !! read more

So glad I found this place while searching for a good sports bar to watch the world cup! Ambiance: - TV everywhere, you can see the game from every spot! - There was indoors and patio seating. We sat at the bar, the outdoor patio looked adequate but not huge. Food: - I would have given this place a 5-star had the food been consistently excellent. What we ordered: Bouillabaisse: 5-star, it was super duper! Soup of the day, Carrot: 5 star, flavorful! Fish and Chips: 3-star. I've had worse and have had better. I tried their lunch special which was only $10, came with a choice of soup or salad, an entree (fish and chips) and a soda! I thought the entree may be small because of the special but it was HUGE! Service: Our waitress was adorable! She was all smiles, attentive...the kind of service you'd like to have at every place! It was pretty busy and she managed to check on us a few times, refilled waters before being asked, with a smile every time. This was the first time to the El Dorado Bar and I will definitely be revisiting this little Gem of a place! read more

Eldorado is in my neighborhood, and if only it was a reflection of it's old school neon sign. If only ... it's passed through a couple of owners and today it is updated to a Sports Bar with South African food fare items. The service, drinks and food were good. Very neutral. Food was ok nothing to write home about. Drinks were good. Where I have an issue is we sat next to server station in bar and watched servers with food. Most disturbing was an order of chicken fingers where server dropped some by the bar. Instead of correcting the problem he kicked them aside and served ppl their food. Now I know when our dozen chicken wings turned into 8 when served. Seems like same issues as The Eldorado had. read more

I came to have lunch and drinks on Saturday after noon for my Birthday.. ,"it is advertised happy hour is 2-6) the service was good the food was just okay The waitress should really promote and mention what is on special and she didn't peep a word on any specials on drinks or food. The drinks were so over priced (happy hour) they should list the prices so you know you are going to be double charged. I had two Martini's and it was $24 bucks, That is way to much for two drinks. We ordered wings to snack on and most of them were raw in the middle and the waitress just said sorry and didn't even offer to take them off the bill or discount them, it was obvious they were picked at. My husband got fish n chips and it could have been cooked harder it was not cooked long enough. The fries are very very good but everything else was just OKay. I got the chicken sandwich and took most of it home, the chicken was dry and they didn't put enough extra's on the sandwich. It was not that good. I won't return even for happy hour because the drinks are way too expensive. I could have bought my own martini mix and vodka for that price and went grocery shopping for a week with the money I spent on one mill. read more

Right off, the interior structure, design and décor is really nice! Love the African accents. Décor always has a huge effect on my mood, so my Eldo experience was off to a good start. We only sat at the bar, so not sure how the servers are in the main restaurant, but the bartenders are great! Super friendly and attentive. And they've recommended all our dishes which were delicious! This food is wonderful and interesting; to me it's a cross between Indian and British pub food. We devoured a chicken curry dish and a steak pot pie, both amazing. Even the side of peas were so tasty... peas! That's what I said! Let's get straight to the point. At the end of the night before we left. Our waiter comes to the table & says " was something wrong with your service bc I noticed since your tab was $200 you left no tip" WHAAAAT. I understand that my tab was over $200 but the tip part is my choice if I want to leave a tip or not no matter if the service was good or bad. My tab was already over $200 why should I feel forced to leave a tip. Still shocked at the situation I said " excuse me" . She then continues to say. " yes it's bc I saw your tab was over $200 and see no tip I was wondering if there was something wrong. Since we all do share tip here we split it" I then told her oh no we were leaving the tip cash here's your tip. Like what. I'm sorry but the fact that you guys share tip is not my problem. It's great to be able to watch just about every game playing on all the TVs in the bar and dining room. Everyone is so nice and friendly and helpful, and the South African flavor is fantastic! Our favorite appetizer is the peri-peri chicken wings-- so hot, so addictive! We also enjoy the main dishes; the steaks are always awesome-- the filet mignon is off the hook!! Unfortunately, my hot sandwich arrived cold, and the veggies seemed to have been hastily thawed from the freezer. However, I must commend the server for their professionalism and attentiveness. They promptly addressed the issue and offered to replace the dish, which I appreciated. In hindsight, Eldo might be better suited for drinks rather than a full meal. Have been going to Eldo for many years and gone through all of the previous owners. We find enjoy the current version and find it to be the greatest. Trevor the new owner has really helped by giving it a very friendly atmosphere even though he has suffered through many difficulties that come with the establishment of a new business. He has a capable staff of servers and bartenders, with our favorite being Brittany. The food is excellent and the friendliness of the patrons really makes it a place that we go to often. We've been coming to The Eldo for years and have always enjoyed dining there. Yesterday the owner, Trevor went above and beyond when I arrived at their ice cream shop, The Scoop with three kids on a hot day, only to realize it was closed. Trevor happened to be outside and opened the shop just for us. He let the kids pick their ice cream and then said the bill was on him. What an amazing gesture! Thank you!!!! My absolute favorite place to watch all the Dodgers games! All the regulars are awesome it's like walking into Cheers when you come here. We finally came here to eat, and it did not disappoint. The salads and zucchini appetizer were on point. The ribeye was delicious. The bread was everything they said it was. I ordered the butter cake, even though I was beyond full, and it was delicious. Our server, Aiden, was the absolute best. Very attentive and knowledgeable. Will definitely come back. read more

Love The ELDO! The food is always great, drinks are good, including a great craft beer selection and its kid friendly (crayons, activity sheet, etc). One draw back...I'd like a real menu, not a QR Code...I look at my phone enough and don't want to be forced to look at my phone when I'm out to dinner. Bar and grill located near amazing Eldorado park. They have interesting rare selection of South African food. We decided to take meet pie, and it was very good, juicy, with right combination and amount of spices. Waiter was friendly, we have been very hungry after a day we spent in park, food was served fast. Nice music there as well read more

I'm sorry to say this, very lack luster experience lately. The food was cold and very fatty meat. I thought Eldo was more upscale and high quality cuisine, but lately we've had poor experiences. Great menu, but overall quality of the food and disappointing temperature left a bad perspective of a place we used to love coming to. read more

The best Wellington I've every had. Every time I've been here the steak and all food was great. The service was outstanding. The ambiance was one of a kind. The one diamond in the ruff. So glad we came and will always eat here. Thank you to all the staff so such a good place to eat and enjoy. read more

The food and service were excellent but today a member of our group found he left his jacket at Eldo . He offered to pay for Eldo to send him his jacket but was told that was not possible! I find that unbelievable and I would recommend they rethink that and make it right. Lyn read more
