Driving home after going to Washington Pass and camping out that way, we needed some breakfast and came across this lil hole in the wall. My 2 friends with me had been here before! Which I was surprised. It is right down the street from Cascadian Farms. We ordered: - biscuits and gravy - eggs bacon and hash - pancake This place has a pretty standard breakfast menu, nothing too fancy. The portions are a good size. Decided to check out The Eatery while passing through Marblemount WA. Wow, what a disappointment. Ordered the "crispy chicken burger." For the low price of $18!!! Its really sad that Hal's in Sedro Woolley and Cascade Burgers in Concrete, both make a better chicken sandwich than this place, for like $6, seriously. $18 for a bland, non crispy chicken patty, sandwich, literally overflowing with Mayo. With a side of very soggy non crispy fries. Oh before I forget, the employees HAD NO MASKS, NO HAIRNETS, and NO GLOVES!!! Extreme health code violation considering this is WA state. So f cking gross honestly. Face touching with ZERO PPE, during COVID is pretty gnarly. Do yourself a favor, save your hard earned money, avoid this place like the plague (literally)! I have to saw this place is barely "meh". I suspect they make a good chunk of their walkup business from people thinking they found another notable place in the area I won't mention here. Our burger was like costco,. fries nothing special but what rubbed me thw rong way is that I split a small meal becaseu I was hankering for some good sold USA pie. That is why when we sat down I pointed to the sign and said "which pies are left?' Answer: all of them. Once we got the burger I asked "Has anyone eaten my pie?" - "Nope they are right in the fridge over there" (pointing as if I could see them). Once they cleared those plates,.. I said "I'll have the Strawberry Rhubarb!" A: "sorry we don't have any pie today" -it was the same fricking server!!! Then she gave us the wrong bill... I give this place 2 stars because the staff was great and they really try and the restaurant is cute and clean, otherwise I'd give it a zero. In short the food was awful and insanely overpriced for quality and the area. I got the "meatloaf," which was hamburger meat in a pan with onions, not meatloaf, and burnt. It also came with mashed potatoes which I'm sure was mixed with water and not butter or dairy of any sort. The side of veggies might have been microwaved, and for a long time... veggie smush. Honestly if it was half the price I'd be much happier - but for 2 people, 2 dinners, and 2 glasses of "wine," at the price of almost $70 with tip??? Found this place on a Sunday evening after leaving Devils Creek. The food was great and the service was excellent! I wish I had taken more pictures but we were so hungry we just dug right in. I had the The Rocky special , pic included. We also tried the corned beef sandwich, fish and chips, kids corn dog and hamburger. The best part was the dessert. Blueberry ice cream from a place called Lopez Island Creamery. We also took some of the homemade honey and jam made on the property. Will definitely be going back. read more

We stopped here after a four-day camping trip in Marblemount. We'd been hoping for breakfast but they must stop serving before 11. I ended up ordering the meatloaf sandwich and sweet potato fries and my friend got the bbq pork sandwich with coleslaw. We were the only ones in the restaurant but that's expected for a Wednesday in the summer. The server was a young gentleman and very friendly and accommodating. We were going to keep driving but with no chance of food for another 67 miles or so this was about as good as we were going to get. Turns out our stop here was a very good choice. Typical 'hearty' but not so great for the heart breakfasts are sold here. Homemade everything (from the looks of things) and oh so tasty. We ordered eggs, sausage, CFS & hashbrowns which were all perfectly cooked and super tasty! It looks like a hole in the wall and if might very well be but it's worth the stop. read more

This place has great food...my husband and I stop to eat there almost every time we drive through Marblemount. We've been know to take the 4 hour round-trip drive just to go there to eat and come back (the scenery on hwy 20 is amazing, though, and not a wasted drive). The food is homemade, down-home cooking and inexpensive. The only issue is that the service is sometimes slow and the server may forget something or not bring it out in a timely manner...but if you're out on the road, enjoying the day and just relaxing, it doesn't even matter. We get spoiled living in the city, expecting everything to be fast-paced. Desserts are also very amazing! They have seasonal desserts, my favorite being the blueberry shortcake served with ice cream. Most updated interior of probably all the Cascades. I felt bad for the staff-there was only 1 waiter for the entire place and it happened to get busy while we were there. Maybe 3 large tables & 8 small tables total in this place? To be fair, the town probably doesn't get much traffic, let alone business. So this place was a warm welcome compared to other establishments we've read about and drove past. The appetizers were the highlight of dinner. The mozzarella sticks, fried pickle spears, & jalapeño poppers all get a gold star from me & my picky family of 9. And the fried breading on all the above had a really good crispiness to it. The chili was okay-only beans & hamburger meat, extra thick, no spice. While it's not the kind of chili I'm used to, it was still completely fine & did the trick if you were craving chili like I was. My brother raved about the reuben. My hubs & dad enjoyed the chicken fried steak even though it didn't come with the southern white gravy. And other family members enjoyed the taco Tuesday tacos (mango-avocado salsa). Not too shabby. It was a good dining experience even though our waiter had 4 tables come in at the same time. A deer was peeking through the window at one point, and we also got to chase bunnies out back after. read more

I will say the service was great. Very friendly. I got a Ceasar side salad and the blue cheese burger. The bun wasn't toast it was old and soggy. It crumbled into a bunch of different pieces. The Salad was pretty weak as well. Just really sub par food I hate to say. Granted it is Marble Mount. read more

We stopped in on our way over the pass just to grab a couple of cinnamon rolls, and we got the last two, and there was a woman right after us who also wanted one, felt bad for her, because the cinnamon rolls are over the top excellent! Mostly disappointing. We ordered at the to-go window after hiking on a busy weekend. We weren't warned that the kitchen (one cook) was way behind and had to wait about 40 minutest to get our food. The main items were plain and disappointing. Chicken Parmesan with a tomato slice instead of sauce. Barely made it through it. A boring patty melt which didn't get finished. Not the best food ever, but certainly not the worst. We were staying at Clark's Skagit River Resort, which is the smattering of cabins right behind the Eatery. We decided that we had to check out the restaurant at least one day we were staying there. However, their closing time is 7 PM!! That is when dinner is just getting started! Ah! So we missed the dinner experience the first two nights. Oh well. We were totally going to hit up breakfast, which is really the most important meal of little divey, comfort food restaurants, right? We get there not five minutes after 11 AM... and we get handed lunch menus. There is apparently a strict cut off time for serving breakfast at this place! Our friends had gotten there minutes earlier and were the last breakfast order. So we were already disappointed... boo... :( Now this place is obviously a family business. There were a couple of chicks with their hair piled on top of their heads in messy "buns" wearing over-sized, unflattering, random t-shirts waitressing. They didn't seem very organized, and the restaurant was certainly not full by any means. I decided after my disappointing burger at Buffalo Run the night before that I definitely didn't want a burger and the sandwich offerings seemed iffy, so that left hot dogs or soup and salad. I went soup and salad... Boyfriend got the Cascade Burger because it at least had a fried egg on it, and he could pretend he was eating breakfast. Minutes go by, my stomach is growling... we watch them bring out the last 8 or so breakfast platters, our mouths watering and our tummies berating us for not waking up early enough... And more time goes by... our friends finish their food... more time... And the boyfriend's Burger shows up and the waitress asks if I ordered anything. YES, YES I DEFINITELY ORDERED SOMETHING!! my brain and stomach scream within me. I nodded and reminded her the soup and salad. Panic crosses her face and the other waitress who overheard us. They tried to play it cool and told me just a few moments. Minutes pass again. Seriously, I ordered soup and salad, chop and pour ladies! That's the simplest thing on the menu! Boyfriend was halfway done with his burger by the time they apparently finished growing the lettuce for my lunch! I nibbled on a piece of leftover toast and some fries waiting for my food, then it finally arrived! And my tummy gave a howl knowing it would not be enough... :( The salad was basically a tiny side salad. And I quickly devoured the most delicious cup (literally a cup) of mushroom soup ever. (Morel mushrooms!! YUMMY!!). So the soup saved the day thankfully with its brief tasty goodness. However, there were at least five other yummy sounding soups listed on the menu that day. If I find myself here for lunch again, I am going to do a tour of the soup menu! And/or I will wake my butt up early enough for the mountain folk to cook me some freaking breakfast!! We were ready for food and not dehydrated or packaged food. We ordered burgers (bacon cheese burger and the Cascade burger), onion rings and beer. We ate everything. The burgers were delicious; thick beef patties that tasted fresh and grilled. The onion rings were great. Light breading and thick cuts of onions. This little Diner is part of "Skagit River Resorts". We stopped here after hiking and had a great time. Pros- Cute country diner vibe inside, good food and amount for money, yummy homemade marmolade roll (they were sold out of the cinnamon rolls). Cons- the service was a bit off. They were full, but not crazy full and the servers didn't really seem to have any sort of rhythm to what they were doing. Not bad service, just strange. Almost like they really didn't have any organization or plan on how to serve. Everyone was very nice however. Food- I got the Skagit Sampler, which I liked quite a bit. I didn't really know what I wanted, so I got a little of everything. two good sized pancakes, two pieces of toast (I got wheat), hash browns, one egg (I got another on the side), and a meat choice (I got bacon, which was two pieces. I should have got the ham steak, since it was huge). Everything was nicely cooked. My wife got the biscuits and gravy, which she thought was OK, but not great. she said the gravy was a bit bland. I'm not a biscuits and gravy guy, so I didn't try it. I would go back here again, but lower my expectations on service. Ate here a few nights ago and let me say that the small staff was friendly and as helpful as they could be. It is a small place, part of a very rustic "resort" up the Skagit valley and our experience was definitely "meh". First off, we read some very interesting and enticing offerings on the menu on their web site. When we got to the café, we noticed NONE of those items were on the fairly limited menu. When we asked about it we were told "Oh, that web site is years old and we don't have any of those items now. We'd get rid of it, but we don't know how." So, IGNORE any website menus or descriptions you find. The place is mostly burgers, along with a few fresh soups, salads, and a chicken pot pie. Three of us got the chicken pie and it was homemade...but kind of mediocre. Kind of small, not well seasoned. Just a hard pastry on top that didn't cover most of the dish (not really a pie). Two of ours were downright cold when they came to the table, but they did warm them us. We did order the last cinnamon roll they had and took it back to our campsite. Alas, it was really hard and dry; might have been cooked the day before. You could tell if it was fresh it would have been amazing...but it was just hard and dry and we threw most of it away. We should have had some of the apple or cherry pie that looked good instead. So if all you expect is a fairly average burger and fries and soup, or you get there in the morning for a fresh roll, you'll probably like the place just fine. We expected a bit more and were disappointed. read more

Stopped in last Fall on an exploratory trip for our Car Club's lunch stop this summer. Quaint place, great food, priced right and very accomodating. Nice fruit shake for $3.95. Made with locally grown fruit. I had blackberry which was thick and tasty in a shake glass. Probably 20;2; oz. companion had chicken pot pie. Good portion but she said it was not flavorful and she wouldn't get it again. We stopped about 5:40 pm and the were sold out of the famous cinnamon rolls. This is a typically quirky out-of-the-way eatery on Highway 20 near Marblemount/Concrete. We came here for lunch after a rigorous hike in the North Cascades. We arrived for a late lunch, close to 1:30, they close at 2:30 or 3. They were lightly staffed as is understandable for this time of year (early Fall) and relatively busy. I ordered chicken strips with a side salad (in lieu of fries) and my companions had burgers and fries. The chicken strips were surprisingly good, they seemed very fresh and real, not like something pre-made or frozen. My salad was okay but not fantastic. Reviews for the burgers, fries, and shakes were good as well. Best ever, no, but good for folks with a good appetite. The service was pretty good once things quieted down a bit. The restaurant has a strange layout and is in a funky space, but it has personality and the staff were very friendly. read more

I really, REALLY wanted to like this place. I saw a news piece on Tootsie and her famous rolls, and was hoping that I might be able to catch one. We arrived post lunch, so weren't surprised to hear they were all sold out. No problem, we'll just grab a different snack. We asked to if we could sit outside, and were told that was no problem. My friend and her kids ordered some fries, onion rings, an iced latte, and a bread pudding. My children ordered fries and milkshakes, while I had a coffee and nibbled on their fries. I'm a mom, I can do that!! The fries were pretty basic, and had no salt. There was also no salt on the table. My coffee arrived with a bowl of cream and a handful of sugar packets. No spoon. The service just seemed to go downhill from there. We were given one napkin for all six of us. One. We were never asked if we needed anything, never had our water or coffee refilled, and my friend's bread pudding never arrived. I had to go inside and grab a salt shaker myself, we needed to ask for utensils, and help ourselves to napkins. I came as part of a group for lunch. The portions were generous and everything was delicious. I had the soup and salad combo. The Thumper salad is fresh and the Italian dressing was fantastic. My friend and I were starving. We passed the place and turned around to take a looksy at the place. A young man asked if he could help us. We were unsure if we should eat here. Not because of the ambiance, but we had not ever heard of it. Wow, what a wonderful surprise. We looked over the menu and decided on sandwich and soup, also fries. We ordered and waited in our car because of the Covid 19, it was finished so quick. The Double BLT was awesome and the Chicken Rice soup equally as yummy. I had no drink and asked the guy for a water and he said he would give me a water in a cup, no charge. I was beyond happy. I left a tip that equaled the price of the bottled water. Note, the servers are not bound by the pricing of the specials. Had dinner there 8/26. Wife ordered the special turkey dinner. It was badly done, overcooked, tasteless. I ordered a chicken Cesar salad, the server did not know what that was. She was also the cook. Couldn't find any lettuce (530 pm), the chicken was apparently left over from earlier in the day or week. Dressing was maybe some off brand Italian. However, the Clam Chowder was excellent. If by chance you must stop there, try the Clam Chowder. Hint. you can find other eating options in Marblemount and Rockport. read more
