First time at Chicken Salad Chick and we will be back!…read more While out of town, my daughter and I stumbled upon a Chicken Salad Chick and decided to give it a try. It's counter service, so you wait in a line queue and order at the counter. Then you're provided a number and your order is delivered when ready. As first timers it was a bit overwhelming. They have SO many chicken salad options, as well as, soups, salads, other types of non lettuce salads. The best part was I was able to try several different salads before I ordered. I tried the lemon basil and Barbie-q on advice from the staff. The lemon basil was okay but didn't taste a lot of bright lemon flavor. I ended up going with the Barbie-Q that had a nice savory flavor to it without being overpowering. I ordered the chicken salad with a side of potato soup and my daughter ordered the original chicken salad on a croissant melt with a side of Mac n cheese. Our total was $21. The food came out quickly and was very taste. My daughter loved her melt and was extremely pleased it came with a pickle and cookie! The chicken salad also came with crackers. It was a perfect lite lunch and I'd recommend.

Their salsas were good, I tried all 4 & I wasn't a fan of the salsa they use for chips. It was quite bland, but the other 3 were good. Also, this place was a bit on the pricier side, I paid $19 for a burrito & a bottled coke. Service was good, they're really nice people. Would I come back? Maybe? Maybe not? I have another Mexican place of preference it's just 20 minutes away from home & chavas is 10 minutes away from home. It's convenient, but sometimes flavor is more important than convenience especially when it comes to Mexican food.

The vibe is coastal Mexico and the menu is seafood driven. The service was excellent and friendly. Our server brought ceviche and green salsa, served with tostadas instead of chips. We also ordered the guacamole to start. All were very good. My wife had a drink called Costa de Oro, which was like a piña colada - festive and tasty. For our entrees, we had Camarones Momias (shrimp stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon and deep fried) and Langostinos al Ajillo (whole prawns in an amazing garlic sauce). Check out the pictures. Everything was incredibly flavorful and authentic. We lived in San Diego for 12 years and used to travel in Baja all the time, so we know good coastal Mexican food when we have it. We will definitely be back to Playa Azul!
