Carne asada tacos and rice and beans

My husband and I were told about this place and decided to give it a try for lunch. Good thing we did because food was good . I am Mexican and just moved to Henderson Kentucky from California where there are taco trucks and Mexican restaurants all over that are awesome . So finding this place made me really happy. The salsas and beans tasted like my moms, the tacos were good and the price was right. The owners also were very nice.

This is one of the BEST restaurants in Eddyville. Some of the dishes are more authentic than…read moreothers, but so far everything I have tried is tasty. One of the big things for me, is how is the salsa and do they have carnitas. The salsa is tasty and flavorful and does not taste overly processed or from a can. And yes, they do have carnitas. Carnitas is a pork dish where the pork is slow cooked and cut in to chunks then fried for a crispy finish. It is usually served with a sauce and tortillas. The pork was not only tender, but it did have the flavor profile that I expect when I order carnitas. The other great thing about Los Agava is the margaritas. There is usually a margarita of the month. This month was banana so I stuck with my usual blue margarita. WOW. These are some strong drinks. If you have any more than 2, you might want to give your car keys to a friend.

If you like spice this is the place for you! I love chilles rellenos and always get them. I also…read morelove green sauce which is not usually spicy. So I got chilles Pablanos with green sauce, and believe you me it is very very spicy. I thought it was the pepper but it was the sauce. I should have stuck with the rancheros sauce. But the flavors were spot on! My husband who grows his own peppers and makes pepper jelly was really impressed with the spice. The wait staff is very attentive but didn't think the sauce was spicy. They do make their own sauces with tomatillos so they are probably used to it! This has become our new favorite place, usually not loud and crowded but I bet it can be on weekends. We usually go on a weekday between lunch and dinner. If you are in or near Eddyville, Ky give them a try!

Amazing place for authentic Mexican / Tex-Mex food in the tri-state! Doesn't completely cater to…read morethe local palate which is the best part. You don't go there to get drunk with sub-par food. The food is the reason to go, not the alcohol.

I am so thrilled I found La Campirana when I was recently in Evansville for the day. We came in at…read morelunch and it was very busy with a mixture of people which is always a good sign! You order at the counter and find a seat. They didn't give us any numbers but still found us without any issue. The salsa bar was definitely a highlight and what drew me to this restaurant. They definitely adjusted the heat in the salsas to appeal to the most people, giving warnings of very hot and extremely hot. As a spice lover the hottest one was around a medium by my standard, but the flavors were excellent. We asked for some chips to sample the salsas before our meal arrived. They tasted homemade and very good. I ordered the chicken and pastor tacos with everything (cilantro, onions, lime) and also tried the pork tamale with green sauce. My bf had a chicken burrito. Everything was excellent, but the tamale was just a tad dry, but did taste homemade which was a plus. The tacos were well seasoned and the burrito was huge so we had leftovers. The food came out fast and before we left we also ordered a mango smoothie and mango with tajin/tamarind which was the perfect sweet treat. La Campirana is an absolute gem and one you should visit immediately!
