This establishment has the best Mexican food in Evansville. I'm originally from Chicago and they have so many great Mexican restaurants. I couldn't pick a favorite because all of them are so good. The only complaint I have is that the last several times I've got queso - it's never hot! It's been disappointing so we have switched to another local Mexican restaurant just up the road that serves hot queso. Queso is one of my favorite things to get at a Mexican restaurant and I've said something about it before in person. But I've been there at least the past 5 times and it's been cool queso. No Thanks. I got the molcajete, it was decent. The salsa that was initially brought to the table with the chips was very bland, but I suppose many people here don't take spice very well. I asked for a hotter sauce & they accommodated me and brought me a salsa from the back. Would I come back? Possibly but only for certain dishes. Strong margaritas, the big poncho burrito it the best with chicken, refried beans, rice, lettuce and sour cream with cheese sauce on top. The Nachos are my wife's favorite. Would have been 5 stars but service was lacking. It took about 8 minutes to take our drink order and everyone else around us already had their drinks and we were seated before them. The food here is excellent! This is my family's favorite Mexican restaurant in the Newburgh/Evansville area. The way they sauté their veggies and meat makes it taste so flavorful. For vegetarians, I would highly recommend getting the Vegetarian C option; which is enchiladas topped with red sauce and sautéed veggies. For someone who likes more of a chicken plate option, the Chicken Chorizo is a huge hit amongst my family; never disappoints. The food is good if you can ever order it. I don't live very close to this restaurant so after I dined at the restaurant and wanted to go back another day I ordered takeout. I ordered chicken on the beach with an extra cup of cheese for the chips. I received a plate of plain grilled chicken with nothing on it. No cheese and only the other plate of food I ordered. The second time I tried to order takeout they asked me to hold and then left me waiting for 15 mins before I hung up and then they left the phone off the hook for the next hour so no one could call into the restaurant. Since that happened they have left heir phone off the hook at least three separate times for extended periods of time. It's beyond me that a restaurant is so willing so throw away money. read more
