Came here again after a few years and a horrible experience and the service and food was much better.

We got a table with no wait on a weekday at 6pm. Our server was amazing, drinks always full, and our food came out crazy fast! We ordered the queso fries which came with two cups of ranch. (Very appreciated as ranch lovers.) The fries were extremely fresh and tasted great! Our entrees were bourbon glazed salmon and shrimp and grilled pork chops - both were tasty! The southern green beans were good but had a somewhat sweet taste, which I was not expecting. The other sides we tried were the Caesar and house side salads and a loaded baked potato, also very tasty! We took home the fried apple pie dessert and that did not disappoint either. When we visit, we always take my sister out to lunch, and today she chooses Cheddar's. She'd never been and this location was a great first visit. The greeter seated us and the server arrived quickly with water, taking our drink order. We were taking our time and the server was very patient, just the type to make you feel like family. Once we ordered our meals arrived quickly, fresh and appetizing. My salmon was cooked exactly as I like and hit the spot. My wife and sister both enjoyed their meals. We were in town for our daughter's USI graduation. Called to see if they could accommodate a party of 16. We were told yes but when we arrived were told they did NOT tell us this. This was mid afternoon so they were not busy. The large table did have a party that was finishing and left promptly. We waited and waited and waited... finally we asked about the table and were told "we will get to you in a bit." 20 minutes later we are still waiting. The table they told us they were "waiting on" had left and as far as we could tell was ready for us. After we FINALLY were seated we waited again to place our drink orders. And then we waited... placed our food order finally and waited some more. I kid you not when I say we could have waited AND ate at Texas Roadhouse (which is better in my opinion) in the amount of time we JUST waited here. The food was ehhh... but after we ate they could not even bring our ticket promptly! The waiter was friendly but that's all. And if you wonder we did tip him well! Came here on a Friday evening with family. We waited for our server for 15 minutes. Some of our party had beverages from the bar, the rest had tea and Sprite. We waited at least 20 more minutes before any of us received our drinks. Then we waited again for another 20 minutes to receive our food. My herb baked chicken was two white halves and 2 dark halves. I took one bite and my chicken was so dry I needed to wash it down with my tea. The green beans were very sweet to taste. And the twice baked potato was a dry baked potato with a strip of cheese and sour cream, not "twice baked as in remove the potato from its skin, mix in cheese, butter, chives, sour cream, or bacon." Cheddars is a restaurant that we frequent quite often as it is close to our home and fairly reasonable price. And I'm not sure if it is the lack of workforce or combination of lack of workforce and attitude that the customer service seems to be going away. Went to dinner at cheddar's on a Thursday around 630PM we sat for 20 minutes before someone came to the table to even take a drink order. Our waitress simply walked and up and "what y'all wanna drink?" As we waited for her to return, we enjoyed the ambiance. The music was great. Our waitress took our order, brought us some amazing croissants and we didn't see her return for another 18 minutes. We ordered an appetizer of cheese fries. Before they arrived enough time had passed that a waitress from across the restaurant came over as she saw needed refills. She refilled our drinks as well as the table next to ours and delivered our appetizer. Our waitress popped by to say she was sorry, the kitchen was busy and she was helping. On to the main course - I had a pot pie and my oh my! Disgusting won't even cover it. I took one bite and it was sour and rotten tasting. I had my husband taste it without sharing my thoughts and he spit it out as well. Our waitress was able to get it taken off the bill. Which we were gracious of. The idea of going to eat and being taken care of, having a good meal just seems to be lost these days. read more

Went to Cheddars In Evansville the evening of October 5. We arrived about 5:30pm. We were seated right away. Our server who did a good job came to our table pretty quick. He took our drink order and brought our croissants and drinks and we ordered onion rings. We asked some napkins and silverware. The place where they keep the silverware was empty. When he brought our silverware he also had our onion rings. They would have been great if they were hot. They were just warm. We both ordered the 16 ounce T-bone for $21.99. I ordered a loaded baked and broccoli cheese casserole as my sides. My wife ordered a loaded baked potato and a salad. My wife's salad came out in a bowl that felt like it was right out of the dishwasher. When we got our meal I took a bite of my casserole it was barely warm. Our loaded baked potatoes came out with sour cream butter and maybe a teaspoon of cheese. Both of our meals were the same. The food at Cheddars is reasonably priced and the food is decent but our last two visits have been lacking in customer service in every way. Upon entering the establishment there was nobody at the host stand. We waited for ten minutes as a few employees would make eye contact and walk by without so much as acknowledging us. I was fine with going elsewhere but one in our party really wanted to eat here. We literally had to force the issue to get seated. It was 4 pm on a weekday so it wasn't like they were busy with other guests, that I could understand. We could see employees talking to one another. The food was decent and I've always appreciated their very reasonable prices, but it will be a long time before I desire to dine here again. There are many other restaurant options in the area. i took my family there last night. wed. june.19th-2024. the bathroom was totally unacceptable to say the least, the place was not busy at all, but had a hard time getting the waitress to bring stuff like silverware to eat with, napkins. when i asked for lemon water she brought us water no lemon, then when we kindly asked her to bring the lemon it took forever for her to return. we kept asking for the milk and apple juice that came with the kids meals and never even got that. i am really displeased with this placed. i will say the food was the only thing that was great! she was lucky to even get a 15.00 tip from my friends husband, because i was not gonna leave anything. read more

Yeah, it's a chain restaurant but this location is consistent. Service was fast and friendly despite it being packed. The food came out quickly and was hot. It was also good and fresh. They have a pretty standard selection of draft beers with some craft offerings and imports. I got the Newcastle Brown Ale and my boyfriend got the Yeungling. We ordered some chips and queso which was good as always. For lunch, I got the grilled salmon with broccoli and carrots. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the veggies were fresh. Oh dear. I like Cheddar's but dang, this lunch was a (lukewarm) mess. (You see what I did there?) My aunt ordered BBQ chicken and asked the waitress if she could get white meat. When the plate came, it was dark meat. When my aunt asked about the white meat, the food runner appeared so confused that I don't think she knew the difference, and handled it by simply making a face and ignoring the question (like, just didn't say anything. My aunt was like, "um, hello?") One of the rudest behaviors I've seen at a restaurant in awhile. Turns out, the BBQ chicken is dark meat only. The waitress offered to bring a chicken breast, so my aunt asked for fried with BBQ on the side. It was grilled with BBQ sauce on it. I ordered the soup and salad lunch combo, my mom ordered the sandwich and lunch combo. My soup came out with a long teaspoon. Neither salad came out, then a wrong salad came out, and then it took another 10 minutes for both salads to actually arrive. When they did, they still weren't correct, but we gave up and ate them anyway. My "homemade light ranch dressing" looked like a blobby, curdled mess that looked like sausage gravy. Speaking of sauces, my grandma's "signature Cheddar sauce" was very clearly just mustard. Playing the "guess the sauce" game is not really what you want from your restaurant. Waitress would disappear for long stretches at a time and was clearly having issues with our table and the one next to ours (although I will say she was polite.) Each time she came back she'd say, "are we still doing okay?", forcing us to repeat, "We still don't have our salads..." Restaurant was freezing. We asked the hostess and the waitress (who claimed she also asked her manager) to turn off the fan or turn on the heat, and that never got fixed, either. Everyone in the back room had their coats on. She took our drinks off the bill which she claimed was because of our salad mishap, but I think that was a mistake too, honestly. If that were true, the salads should have been free, as we ended up eating the wrong thing. And we never saw a manager. All in all it was a stressful experience! I was coming home from 2 weeks of intense physical therapy, when we decided to drive all the way to Evansville to eat. After mulling on a choice, we decided on Cheddar's. It was packed on a Sunday afternoon around 2, but we got seated quickly. Our waitress Dawn came over, very pleasant and welcoming, and since it was my first time there, she made some suggestions. I got the spinach dip, which was excellent. We both ate more than we should have before eating. I asked about the BBQ chicken 1/4 and half rack of ribs. She assured me that chicken would be juicy and delicious. She was so right! One of the best I've had in a while. I also got Mac and cheese which was decent, a baked potato, and some corn. The corn was really good. My wife got steak and ribs, but instead of Mac and cheese she got the broccoli casserole. She said it was just ok. No place has everything perfect, just wasn't he cup of tea. We also got the croissants covered in butter, and they were delicious. Great food great service, especially when it was busy. And Dawn was an awesome waitress. She made our experience a nice one, after all that time in therapy. The ride home to Vincennes was long, but with full and content bellies, it was well worth it. Get the Spinach Dip and BBQ Chicken if you go. You won't be disappointed! read more

This is a great place for the family and friends to dine in. There is a big fish aquarium that you can look at while you are waiting for a table or getting ready to leave. You know what the saddest thing to see on a sit down restaurant menu is? "All burgers served medium well." Those five words make my heart sad and Cheddar's has that on their menu. Also, with a name like Cheddar's, I expected cheese to play a more dominant role on the menu. Sadly, the only cheese on the menu was the stuff that came on top of burgers or sammuches. I liked the decor of this place, but it had a distinct Mediterranean feel to the design, and I was eating American comfort food. Confuse! With all my bitching, the reason this place gets 3 stars is because, even though my burger was served medium well, it was still really good, as were my fries. I'm convinced that if I had been allowed to get it medium rare, as I like it, my eyes would have rolled back into my head from meat joy. Our server was also a real sweetheart and she was attentive without being overbearing. Funny sidenote: It was a busy night and we were waiting and the time estimate that the host gave everyone who walked in the door was "21-26 minutes." Date: 01/02/16 Time: 4:00pm We had a Cheddar's location in Champaign, IL for many years, but it closed down shortly before this location opened in Evansville. For that reason, we really enjoy going to this location when we visit. We intentionally got here early because we had a large party (6 adults, 4 kids). We had about a 30 minute wait, but that wasn't too bad. Cheddar's has not historically been able to accomodate us well with a party this size and made us split into separate tables, but I was very happy to see that they set us all up at a single table this time. We're big fans of the Onion Rings, so we got 2 orders of those and an order of chips & queso. The queso was decent, but nothing too special. Great onion rings though! Most of my group got Chicken Tenders + fries in some form. A couple of us ordered ribs, one Hickory Smoked and one Honey BBQ. The Hickory ribs were good, but very dry. I'm told that the Honey BBQ ribs were better in that regard, presumably due to more sauce being used. I'm not usually a big fan of cole slaw, but the slaw here was notably better than most. One member of the party ordered a Cajun pasta and reported that it was very good also. Our server was named Melinda, and she kept me stocked with sweet tea, so service was great in my opinion. Nothing happened that would make us hesitate to come back. It gets VERY crowded in the evenings on weekends, so allocate time appropriately. read more

Went there today with a parent. The appetizer of onion rings seemed nice enough, but when we got our burgers, it was sort of bland. Not to mention they told us that one of them had been dropped and we had to wait for another to be cooked. Unknown if they actually cooked both again for freshness, but the fact that the waitress said that my plate was hot for a burger dish put heavy doubt on that. First, they made daughter change her order because they were out of grilled cheese bread. Waitress comes back and tells me that she can't put my combo in because I ordered wrong. (I didn't). I changed my order. She sends another waitress to tell me they were out of that (one of their signature items). I changed my order again. Daughter spills wife's ice tea. ALL OVER THE BABY. 3 servers walk by and see the spill. None help. Our waitress is no where to be seen for over 30 minutes. Wife has no drink. And then daughter spills her milk. Wait 5-10 minutes for the check. Wait 5-10 minutes for her to come back for payment. And everything was full price after she said she'd discount it. read more
