Contrary to its name, they don't sell live ducks here :( What they do have is everything you'd expect to find from a university bookstore. Books, mugs, stickers, tshirts, etc. I was in the market for postcards (since ducks were out of the question) and couldn't find them. A very friendly woman asked if I needed help and I happily responded, "Yes! I'm looking for postcards." She directed me to the postcards and I was happy to be making my way to the register a few moments later. At the register, a happy young human rang me up and asked if I found everything okay. Indeed I did, because at that moment, my gaze fell onto a Ducks pen and I knew then that we were meant to be together. I now had my postcards, a fancy new pen to write them with, and enough time left on my parking meter to wander around campus for a bit. read more

This is the best place on campus to buy sparkly pens! The bookstore has a rocking selection of crafting, art and stationery supplies. Not to mention really great clearance items. The digital duck has a vast selction of everything for your PC or Mac, and at a discount! Textbooks are standard prices, with the usual lame buy back price. There is a coffee shop as well as snacks and food, so you can get a snack on the run while buying your supplies. read more

Dont ever order online for your book rentals here. They screwed me over and charged me for a book that had "slight water damage" that was present when I received the book from the duck store. I ordered it online and therefore didn't have a choice in the book I received so I ended up with one that they rented to me and eventually made me by because of their mistakes. Never renting from them again. Use Amazon, they suck. read more

The duck store is full of fantastic duck gear, whatever you might want for any occasion. We went in with family in town to pick up a few shirts. There was a plethora of choices and plenty of sizes with many options. The kids had a lot of fun playing in the children section. The footballs were really cool looking as was all the workout gear. The employees were friendly and helpful, the trying on area was clean and with good lighting. The footballs and Pom-poms were in fun kid section. It would have been fun to get a poster with purchase instead of charging $2. The prices were broad range, with slightly over priced gear in general. Can find similar gear at the local Target or Fred Meyer and it is cheaper. It's still a lot of fun to go into the duck store, brightly lit and well displayed. read more

Do not rent text book from them. They are prefectly happy to rent you a text book that they will not take back. I rented a text book from them last term after lookting them over and finding the least damaged ones I could. When I went to return it I was told by both an employee and a manager that I would have to pay full price for the book due to it's damaged state. When I pointed out it was in the same state as I rented it in they told me that I shouldn't have rented it if it was damaged. Keep in mind all their books were in the same or worse state as mine. The whole rental thing is a scam to get you to buy books in poor condition at full price. Don't do it. read more

I believe it's now called the Duck Store, but either way, it is wondrous. When I was a student at UO, I would go there to waste time on my breaks between classes in Lillis. Whether I had to buy a book 7 weeks into the term because I tried to go through the class without it, I needed something to eat or drink [a Luna bar and they even sell Kombucha there, which was originally only sold in the Union Market], or I just wanted to peruse the clothing section, it always provided me with a great time killer. The worst time to be at the Duck Store is when it's the first week of classes; the upstairs bookstore is a mad house, as well as the supply store in the basement. There are certain times during that week, however, that are slow. During my four year tenure at Oregon, I found that if you avoid the bookstore during the first week, everyday from about 10 am till about 4 pm, then you're solid gold. Sometimes around about 1pm till 2 pm, you can get in without a crowd. Those are popular times for people to take classes. Tons of people go in the (sort of) early morning and definitely later in the afternoon. If you're an early riser, get there early, the bookstore opens at 7:45 am. If you're not, then just wait your turn and take your chances. Books are expensive too, but I don't know who is to blame for that...the bookstore or the publishers? The staff is helpful and most of them are students--they feel your pain. If you forget your CRNs, you can go to the help desk on the third floor and get a list of your CRNs to help find your books. And don't forget about the Digital Duck next door -- you should know this by the name of the store, but anything digital, you can buy at the digital duck. From printing pictures to buying a brand new laptop--everything is discounted for students and staff. read more

If you are a student, you pretty much always go in here. Duck gear, food, drinks, books, music, electronics, art supplies, pretty much anything you'll ever need. It can be a little pricey, but since it's so close to campus you don't really have any other choice. I do love their coffee shop inside though. I easily chose them over Starbucks every morning. Shorter lines, cheaper, and there are $1 off coupons each term. read more

As a major college bookstore, this is probably the best one I've seen as I like visiting different ones when I travel, mostly to annoy people there as I wear my Duck gear a lot of places. The only reason for the 4 instead of 5 stars is the size. It's *always* so crowded... they need to expand and allow for more between the clothing racks... but their selection beats any other Duck store out there. The one in Portland, sadly, is pretty sad (as in limited on gear). read more

Not necessarily a flyer-friendly place, horrible prices and worse buybacks. The only redeeming thing about this place is the Digital Duck, and that place kicks ass for the photography section alone! Cheapest quality digital prints of any place I've ever seen. And they used to give you little stamps, like a coffee club kind of thing, so that eventually you can get a roll of prints for free! read more

I loved the Duck Store as a student, and so happy with them 10 years later! I purchased some Oregon earrings online that were made by a local grad student and I absolutely LOVE them! However, I tend not to wear the backs on them and somehow after the Stanford game one of them fell out without me noticing. I looked online immediately the following morning to repurchase them and they were no longer for sale. I called up the Duck Shop and left a message, a mere few hours later, they called and had looked up my previous order, and actually had one pair left. They sent it out to me and took care of the shipping (a great gesture in my book!) and I received my new earrings two days later! So happy! Love, love, LOVE the Duck Shop! Can't wait to go there when I'm back in Oregon for the holidays! read more

If you want to buy something that says Oregon Ducks on it - shirts, hats, golf balls, shot glasses, baby shoes, helmets, bobbleheads, stickers - this is the place to go. It's fun to wander around and see what new item they've printed the logo on, and it's hard to turn any of them down if you're a fan. Everything's right around what it should cost, which means you're not going to save any money shopping here instead of online, but it is fun to be there in person to see the ridiculous number of color options with jerseys. This area of the store could easily get 5 stars in my book. But there's more to the Duck Store than memerobilia. Upstairs is the book store, where they've got a decent selection of books for sale in addition to text books... but nothing is cheap. Textbooks are ridiculously overpriced, although that is probably on the textbook company, so I can't be too upset with them. What I will complain about though is that most of the other books in the store are sold at full price, something that you usually only see at airport bookstores. I always assumed books were priced high so that stores could bring the prices down and look like the good guy... but they don't seem to do this, making it very difficult to fork over $26 for that new novel. For both textbooks and recreational reading, just go down the street to Smith Family Bookstore and save some money buying used books. Book store: 3 stars. Downstairs is an art supply store. I never took any art classes (and can't draw) so I only went down there when in need of binders or notebooks. Seemed like a well supplied store, but I'm no expert. 4 stars. Bottom line: If you're a Duck fan or are visiting from out of town, this is the place to go. read more

I go to the bookstore whenever I'm in town. This place has EVERYTHING. Digital Duck is great, the art supplies downstairs are fantastic if you're in to that kind of thing. You can buy all the UO paraphernalia to your hearts delight on the main floor, and then upstairs, the highlight of my visit, the books. They have the textbooks, sure, that's what all college bookstores have, but they also have a section of real books. Fantastic. read more

We are big duck fans from Redding California. We have hit the Duck Store in Portland. But we wanted to go to the one on campus. I thought it was hard to find - but I'm horrible with directions and reading maps. But once we found it - parking was tough - but we found a spot at a meter - but were bummed about the short time it gave us. We were going to move - when along came a really nice meter reader - and she said that she would let us slide and give us more time - since we were going to leave some money in Eugene - especially at the Duck Store. Awesome. She was only going to let us park for a full hour instead of 45 minutes - but we were out in 40. We got more shirts - and more car decals. And my son who is only 10 - we ended up downstairs for he could use the restroom - and there all new and shiny were U of O binders and folders - he's only going into 5th grade but we had to get U of O gear for next year. He said - no one else will be at school with these - that's very true. Everyone was extremely helpful and so nice - I'm sure we missed a lot just being on the main floor and the lower level. But no worries we will be back for sure. read more

I love UO but don't love the bookstore. I wish it had more of a food selection & UO clothing. It has a great selection of drinks and art supplies but its the bookstore on campus and I wish it had more options for clothing. More sales would be great because it is always the same 20% sale and they could sell more if it was on sale for more of a discount. I do go here over Starbucks for the coffee. read more

The coolest part of the University of Oregon bookstore has always been the basement, for me. Then again, I have this bizarre office supply fetish, and I am an artist. So perhaps that explains it. Their prices on art supplies actually beat their main competition: Oregon Art Supply. The staff is a little bit slow if you have trouble finding something, but once you get their attention they are usually quite helpful and knowledgeable. read more

this is what a college bookstore should be, on so many levels (both literally and figuratively!) the basement which houses art and school supplies has everything you could ever want, including fun and random crafting supplies. the middle floor which holds all of the Oregon Duck wear and whatnot is amazing! Nike and the other companies have really outdone themselves, and this university bookstore has more merchandise than you can shake a green and yellow pom pom at! upstairs in the actual bookstore section, there are sooo many books, and they are very well organized and easy to find. the employees are very helpful, and should you have trouble finding something they are more than happy to look with you or order it for you in a very expeditious manner! The U of O bookstore is easy to forget about. It's in the middle of campus, and parking is horrible, and it's just not a place you pass by often, if you aren't a student. But there is an incredible selection of books of all kinds upstairs, and a great art and office supply area downstairs, plus a terrific sale that seems to come up after fall and spring terms end. Even if it's been years since you've been in college, or you just never went, it's a cool place to hang out for an afternoon, and I can pretty much guarantee you will spend some money. read more

I don't really care about ducks gear or textbooks, which is obviously why the Duck Store primarily exists. Even so, the Duck Store is a great place to shop. Upstairs, there is a fairly well-edited collection of fiction. The nonfiction sections are slightly more hit-or-miss, but its still a good place to loom around. The basement has a really wide selection of art supplies--the best in town. There is also a nice section of stationary and gifty things on the main floor. Plus, there are usually coupons floating around to make their prices even better. read more

Finding out that The Duck Store is a local non-profit aimed at contributing to the Alumni Association and other local organizations certainly helps make it much more justifiable to entertain my pen obsessions. Seriously, the selection of art supplies in the downstairs section is incredibly satisfying, and the back to school promos have helped me stock up for the entire term (you can never have too much of your favorite pen or your classic black moleskines). Given their recent efforts to bring down the costs of textbooks and be transparent with their prices online has really made me attuned of where I am spending my money--a locally owned Oregon organization. While saving a few extra dollars on a textbook on Amazon might allow me to get more pens, I think of the reasons I appreciate this store is its honest efforts to support our alma mater. read more

Rented a textbook and received a water damaged book. Didn't inspect it myself (my fault), but then got charged the full price of the book upon return. Learn from my mistake, don't trust them to do their job, don't take anything with even one slightly damaged page, could cost you $50. And don't believe them if they say, "Oh, that'll be okay." These guys are salesman, look out for yourself and protect your wallet. read more

The bookstore sells overpriced, incredibly damaged textbooks. I rented a book and was told at check out not to highlight anything. I succeeded. I went to return the book and then women said they couldn't take it because it was "damaged" by water. There are a few pages with wrinkles on them, but not because of water, because of moisture from tea. I wasn't told about the no water damage policy, and you may think it's common sense, but if you looked at the book you wouldn't say it's water damage. The women then subjectively decided the price I would pay right in front of me and then said they could give 1/2 of the buy back price because I damaged the book. The book has no writing, it looks nearly brand new. I already paid almost $100 to rent the book and now they want me to pay over another $100 (more than the actual price of the book) so they can resell it for a profit. They claimed it would be sold as a damaged "one time" sell with a green sticker on it that doesn't actually exist. They are liars, hounding students for money and I will never buy my books there again. You shouldn't either unless you want to be screwed over read more

I am a student at UO therefore I would love to support the duck store but every time I go to the campus store to get books or supplies everyone is extremely rude. It may be because I am student and they believe I have no other choice but the truth is we students do have a choice. This last year, I have found myself using thriftbook.com and amazon.com much more. As long as you think far enough ahead to order your books, they are usually cheaper and you don't have to deal with condescending, rude people. The situation that drove me to writing this review was attempting to rent a book from the duck store. The guideline was that you must offer a credit/debit card that had an expiration date after the book was due. This makes complete sense to guarantee the return of the book. But when I went to use my debit card (with an expiration of 05/13-the book would be due back 03/13...plenty of time) and the register returned a message saying the card expiration was BEFORE the due date the associate asked a manager what to do. The manager looked at me and rudely blamed me for not reading the expiration date instructions to rent. When I informed her that, with the book due in March and my card expiring in May, I should be fine she rudely said "Well you'll have to buy them or nothing... We can't do anything". No one attempted to find a different way to make it work. I therefore left without the book. The next day I went back and when the same issue happened, and being in retail myself and knowing that there are always ways around an issue, I asked the associate to physically type my card. When she manually put in the expiration on my card it worked. I was really disappointed that as the customer I knew more then the associate AND manager, who customers look to to fix these issues. The Duck store is a great place to get gear and to buy souvenirs but avoid when buying books! Better yet support another local store!!! read more

I ordered two sweatshirts on Dec. 13, in plenty of time for Christmas. I called on Dec. 24 and asked where they were. They said, "Oh, those are out of stock. You should have gotten an email." They had my correct email address and phone number on file but didn't bother contacting me. I'll never make this mistake again. read more

Wednesday, April 2nd... i thought April Fool's was yesterday! Went in to the DuckStore, saw a special on KickStart advertised (2/$3 mini ads in the slider under the shelves holding the cans)... went to the register but they hadn't updated the price. Girl turned around and asked Mike (in charge of pricing!) if I was telling the truth... he says no by vehemently shaking his head back and forth in an ape-like fashion. I go back and rip off the ads to prove to the bitch that I am, in fact, telling the truth at which point she simply exclaims "hmmmm....." and does not offer the advertised discount. I am unimpressed with these braid-dead apathetic "customer service" people... Never again, DuckStore. I will not be giving you Hundreds of dollars per month in business from this day forward! read more

The best of the best all floors and all departments go above and beyond... they don't have it in they'll let you know when they will. Same company different product they'll see if they can get in. Need something that might be in at another location their calling them up. Need anything art or craft related go downstairs it is amazing! They have everything you could want and work with to get what they don't and then have trade shows annually to show you how to use all that cool new stuff. Yes, some text books can be high priced but they tend to be new and the same if not more expensive on the internet and then you won't get them in time for your class. I don't blame the bookstore for costs of books I blame my professors for choosing the text that was expensive. I don't suggest "skipping textbooks that you probably wouldn't read anyway" that reviewer is out of touch. If you want to graduate read your books! I kept all of mine the point is to be studying in a field you enjoy and actually want to work in. When it is your passion your happy to have them ... forever. read more
