When he provided the estimate, he took the time to fully explain the scope of the work and even crawled through our crawl space himself to make sure he understood the entirety of the job and any potential issues that could arise. He spent nearly two hours performing a detailed inspection of our drains under the house and in the front yard, including running a camera through the lines to assess their condition and the best way to fix our problems. We had a full-on sewer line catastrophe, and Jordan saved us. We called him in a panic for a hydro-jet emergency, and he showed up right away. Turns out, the whole sewer line had collapsed. I own a multifamily on a hill and was just about to rent my downstairs unit when one day I came into a river of water coming out of the toilet. I called the drain defender that evening and they promised they could be their next day and true to their word Jordan showed up. As soon as he removed one of the toilets we can see tree roots coming up which is one of a homeowners worst nightmare - broken pipes which means a very expensive repair. Jordan took into account that I had just remodeled this unit and he didn't want to drill through the floor so he offered an alternative solution - digging and going under the slab. I thought his price was fair so I agreed and I appreciated they wouldn't destroy the newly remodeled unit. They started the next day and I had a worst case scenario, there were cracked pipes in both of the units lines. Jordan gave me quotes for doing pipe relining for both lines which again I thought his pricing was fair for the enormous amount of work they ended up doing, nearly spending a week at my property. In the end I had relined pipes and they replaced some sections. Unlike other contractors, Jordan's crew even took the time to clean up their work site and inside the unit. I can not even begin to tell you how great my experience was with George. We had a horrible smell coming from under our kitchen sink and called as many different plumbers as we could find. 95% of them wanted money up front just to come out to assess the problem. That narrowed our list significantly and left us with two. The first company barely even looked under our sink and diagnosed our problem as old pipes that needed replacing. But as a "budget" option, he said he could use a hydrojet to clean the pipes and fix the smell - which apparently cost $1500. George was next up to bat. He came in, noticed we were a shoes-off household and immediately kicked his boots off (we told him he could absolutely leave them on, but he insisted). Then he crawled under our sink to figure out what was happening. While he was under there, he tightened a few things that were apparently too loose and came out asking to see the outside of the house. Out he went, and when he came back in he told us that the smell was not coming from the plumbing. I asked him if he could just snake the drain anyway (the STINK, you guys) - here's what he said "I can if you want, sure, but I don't feel right charging you for something that's not going to fix your problem. The smell isn't coming from the pipes. I think something got in your wall and died - but it isn't from the plumbing. I don't want to charge you for something you don't need." AFTER A $1500 HYDROJET DIAGNOSIS! He told us to pour bleach or vinegar and baking soda in the pipes (which, in retrospect was 100% said to make me feel better and wasn't going to fix the stink because...people...it was a dead animal in the wall!!) and said he'd be on his way. NO CHARGE WHATSOEVER. $0. When I insisted, he said "I didn't do anything (he sure did - tightening the pipes, for one!), there's nothing to charge for!" So I gave him a tip and thanked him profusely. On his way out the door, my mind running to all the rooms in my house to see if there was anything he could do that I COULD pay him for, I remembered the toilet in my son's bathroom had been running. He headed into the bathroom, diagnosed the problem within seconds, ran to his truck for a part and replaced it - all within 10 minutes. "Okay! NOW what do I owe you??" "Nothing. What you gave me already more than covers what I did here. We're good". What in the world... People - call this company immediately if you have an issue with anything. ANYTHING. We set a time, but he got backed up and ended up not being able to come that day, which was fine. The excellent thing about it is that he called me and kept me up to date. Highly recommend George and his company, The Drain Defender. After having another drain company "roto rooter"' the main drain in our house about a month earlier only to have it clog up again (and being charged a 2nd time because it was 3 days over the warranty period) I searched YELP and called George as well as other companies. Unlike the competition, after telling him the problem George was willing to come out to my house and do a camera inspection at no charge. He discover several areas where tree roots had choked off the drain (not just one place like the first guy told me). And instead of another "roro rooter" job he installed a new clean out "hole" and cleaned out the main drain with a high pressure water jet which removed the all the roots (at least for now) from the house to the street - to prove it he showed me with his drain camera device. And the price was about the same as the first company quoted for just a new "hole" and a rotor rooter of just one spot (and probably a extra charge to do the rest!). read more
