I am so grateful to all of the fellow Yelpers for helpful reviews which lead me to go with The Drain Co. I cannot scream out loud enough - DO NOT GO WITH ANYBODY ELSE!!!! Call The Drain Company!!! It just doesn't get any better. This is exactly how every business should be run. My nightmare started on Christmas with a backed up toilet. This is the only toilet in the house. Neither the bathtub, nor the kitchen sink or dishwasher were backing up, which lead me to believe that it was just a severe clog in the branch main (line), not the actual main line. Shouldn't be a big deal. Turned into a nightmare and a stressful situation when I had to deal with 3 other plumbers that I found through Google, before I finally turned to Yelp and found The Drain Co. Rotor-Rooter said they could make it out before 5 p.m. on the 27th. I called at 4 and asked where they were. They said I was next on their list and they were waiting for a technician. At 6:30 they called and told me they would have to re-schedule for tomorrow. I told them to forget it. I called another plumber, Pioneer Plumbing, who said they could come within the hour, which was great. The man who showed up was not a plumber, but a con artist. He tried to sell me the hydro jet cleaning for over $600. I told him that I knew that it was unnecessary since I just had it done at my other house and this was not a problem with the main, rather a simple clog. He snaked the line through the toilet, without removing the toilet, it didn't work. I don't think he's ever "plumbed" before. That cost me $135 which I paid just so I wouldn't have to listen to any more lies about what expensive services I need. The next day I called yet another plumber, they were solidly booked. Found The Drain Co on Yelp and found the reviews very helpful. I decided that they were the company for me. I was completely at the end of my rope and they came to the rescue! My review echoes what others are saying on here: I called, left a message, within 15 min Vicky called me back. So warm, professional, kind, HUMAN. I scheduled an appointment. They said they would come between 12 and 2 and offered to call first so I could meet them at the house. By 12:20, George was there. He was everything you need in your life when you're dealing with a clogged drain and dishonest plumbers. He got the job done, in about half an hour. No complaints, no b.s., no lies. Just elbow grease, knowledge of his work, and honesty. The price was less than what I paid that con artist the night before. George explained what possibly may have caused the clog and how to prevent it in the future. I'd like to thank Star, the owner, for running her company like this. This is exactly how I do business and it gets so tiresome to deal with rip-offs and liars when you need something done. I wish The Drain Company nothing but the best and want to thank them!!! We have been a continuous user of drain cleaning services since we bought our home in 2000. The house has a beautiful tree right near the front door 3 feet away from where the main sewer line for the house connects through a double coupling to the main line to the street. The tree towers over the front and really makes the "curb appeal" for the house spectacular. However it's roots continuously grow through the seams in the coupling. The first few years we called drain cleaners every 3-4 months and tried several services. Each time was a tug-of-war because their price would escalate when they showed up significantly above what they quoted on the phone. They had all kinds of reasons: bad clean-out location at ground, plants too close, electrical outlet not close, roof vent location too far, surcharge for lifting the rig, surcharge for fuel etc... It always started at $99 and ended up between $159 (Roto-Masters) and $249 (Mike Diamond). We had the line scoped with a camera and identified the root problem at the double coupling next to the tree. Re-lining wasn't an option as our problem wasn't in the main line but at the coupling. The only solution was to dig it up which would have killed the tree and ruined the look of the house. Finally we replaced the sewer lines in the house and front yard with oversized ABS to eliminate every other issue except the tree. We installed clean-outs within 8 feet on either side of the coupling, one in the front wall with a cement brick path through the plants, the other in the front lawn at ground level. We even installed a dedicated 20 amp outlet by the front door for the snake rigs. It was expensive but at least we figured our quarterly drain cleanings would be only $99. Boy were we mistaken. They still tried to charge more once they showed up. We tried lots of services, mostly from the Yellow Pages or internet but it was always a hassle to haggle over price. We concluded that's just how the industry worked. Last night at 8 PM our shower backed up. I called two services to schedule a cleaning first thing in the morning. One had a voice mail and never called back, the other Mike Diamond quoted $99 base plus charges as applicable, but they couldn't show up until 1 PM the next day. I pushed for an earlier window because I was calling the night before, the best he could do was 8 AM - 1 pm. It was like calling the cable company! Mike Diamond has more trucks than any other service, they charge more than anybody else, and all they can give you is a 5 hour window? This morning at 8 AM I went on Yelp and found The Drain Co. After reading the reviews I called and left a message. Just like I'd read, Vicky called me back in about 4-5 minuets and had a truck out within the hour. Rick showed up, looked at the job, quoted $89 (I was pleasantly surprised), and within 10 minuets we were clear. No hassles, no haggling, no gouging, no mess, punctual, polite and reasonably priced. We liked the service so much I called Vicky to schedule a Service Contract for clean-outs quarterly to maintain the line. I've always had pretty good luck with Yelp. But this time it was outstanding. The service I received from the Drain Co. was so fantastic It was way beyond what every other drain cleaning service offers. And believe me, at 3-4 times a year over 12 years we've tried them all. Great experience. We looked up roto rooter in Sherman Oaks and these guys came up with great reviews on yelp. So glad we called them! We had a blocked kitchen drain and they sent someone out within a couple hours. He was friendly, efficient and had it all fixed in under 15 minutes for only $45! I had a bad blockage in my main line. The tech who came out was very nice. He had to change blades 3 times because the blockage was very serious, I just assumed I would get charged extra for having to change blades, but to my surprise it was still the low base price. My mom who is 89 and living with a full time caregiver had a problem. I called the drain co on a Sunday for help. Instead of just rushing out and charging me double time they asked me to check for an overflow access (I don't remember the term). Found it and opened it. That solved the problem for the time being. I have used TDC on multiple occasions; the first time for a clogged bathroom sink. I called Star and she sent someone over within the hour. The technician was courteous, quick and very neat. The second time was for a backed up pipe in my laundry room. This particular drain pipe had been an issue since I purchased the house a decade ago. Every year I would hire a plumber to snake out the line, only to have the thing (like clockwork) back up again within 12 months. After my first successful experience with The Drain Company, I bought them in to take a crack at it; and again it was a prompt, accurate and courteous technician that showed to deal with the stubborn pipe. Of course we called the DrainCo again when on a Saturday afternoon the water started backing up from the guest bathroom toilet - the lowest drain opening in our house (e.g.: washing machine, kitchen sink, etc. water would come out there if the drain was blocked farther down the main drain). I called and was told it would be about 1 1/2 hours until someone could get there - well worth waiting for. They also told me about how much i could expect to pay to clean out the main drain. I assumed this was the problem since the roots always seem to grow in that time of year, especially if it rained a few weeks earlier. Sam came - about an hour later (he called first to let me know he was on his way) and started to clean out the main drain... no problema.... but my son's bathroom's drains were still clogged (i wont go into the fact that that week my wife's cousin from New York stayed with us and was using the bathroom... just a coincidence I guess???). Sam found another clean out and started to rooter. Seemed to clear the clog but when he was pulling out the rooter it wouldn't come out. He tried everything... at least 1/2 and hour of pulling, pushing, turning, adding soap to the drain. He was really was working hard to get it free but by that time it was getting pretty dark. So he cut the cable and told me to call the company to set up a time for someone to come the next day to find out what the problem was. The next morning Mark, who is the expert on these types of problems called us and pretty much by 9 a.m. he was at our house and using his cable camera to find out what the problem was. About an hour later he was done - mission accomplished, something to do with a weird turn in the piping. Now hears the best part --- THERE WERE NO ADDITIONAL CHARGES!!! Nothing more, nada. What planet were we on I thought... plumbers not charging extra for an unseen problem. THAT'S HOW GOOD THEY ARE. AND FAIR. AND HONEST. Can't say that they would do the same for everyone... perhaps i'm special (or at least my plumbing is!). But as far as rotor rooting experiences go this was the best I ever had. Ramon was our plumber and he was great!! We had a clogged kitchen and utility sink. Had one company out that we've used before and they tried the snake and couldn't get it fixed ... Even went up through some kind of plumbing in the ceiling and said it looked pretty bad. They said that snake doesn't work with 'sludge' so they'd have to use the hydro jet machine and charge us $800. Yikes. I saw the reviews on Drainco and decided to give them a call. A technician called me back within 5 minutes after leaving a message. Ramon got here a half hour later. He worked the snake and used the snake to get everything working. He said they have the machine and I'd they would've had to use it he quoted me over 60% less than the other company. Their prices were beyond reasonable! And the work was excellent. And Ramon also threw in some last minute fixes after he finished the drains. He cleaned up beautifully after his work. Cannot say enough good things about Ramon and Drainco. read more

So glad I found them thru Yelp. My laundry room flooded because the drain pipe was clogged. My neighborhood plumber quoted over $2000 to replace all the pipes even though I had them replace ALL of the pipes 3 years ago. I was upset until I found the drain co. on Yelp. They arrived within a couple of hours, solved the problem within an hour and costed $65! I can tell TDC is honest and efficient. When I asked the plumber about replacing any of the pipes, he gave me a funny look saying there's absolutely no need to replace any of the pipes. The Drain Co. is the kind of business you don't really think about until you NEED them. Well, I needed them this morning and they arrived within two hours of my initial call. Removed the roots from my main drain clear to the street and I am back in business. A friend referred me to the Drain Co. many years ago when I'd been living in a plumbing hell. With enough chemicals poured down the affected drain to blow the house off its foundation and an initial plumber's attempt and subsequent failure to clear what I envisioned had to be concrete in my tub/shower drain, the Drain Co. responded and fixed the problem in less than 15 minutes. I called Drain Company for a simple cleanout for my mom's house, and it went perfect. Then, a week later, my own drain clogged. My house is extremely difficult access and a long, long, long run to the street's sewer, with lots of roots in the line. Rick and Rocky came out and they worked four hours straight getting my line clean. They came when they said they would, they stayed at the quoted price even though it took them four hours, they worked diligently, cleaned up when they were through, and maintained a cheerful sense of humor throughout. They actaully called to tell me the plumber was on his way and he was and showed up within the time frame expected. The plumber was neat clean, efficient and the whole thing was soooo reasonable. Called this company after checking yelp. I had a clogged drain from my washing machine after my down duvet leaked feathers. Spoke to Star and she set up the appointment for that morning. The plumber came on time, was polite and respectful, and explained exactly what he was going to do to open the drain. Drain was opened in less than 10 minutes. He cleaned up after himself and was on his way. What I really like about this company is they go the extra mile. Star called later on that day to make sure that everything went well.....it did. They also left a little package with a cute sponge with their company logo and some business cards. It's an older home and the pipe is smaller than usual. It took longer to snake, but the tech was persistent and confident that he'd get through and he did. I found The Drain Company through Yelp, and was not disappointed. There is a reason they have so many great reviews! They know what they are doing and their prices are great. I called them out for 2 things I needed fixed, and when they came I had him look at some other things that previous plumbing companies had told me were not fixable without busting open the wall or replacing faucets. Tell that to Kent from the Drain Company! Thanks to Kent, my kitchen sink now works perfectly without busting open the wall, and the faucets in the other bathroom are working perfectly, in addition to the 2 repairs that I called them for which he fixed as well.
