I recommend calling ahead and placing an order otherwise you'll have to wait in the drive thru. Which can take a while. They are still allowing customers to enter to pick up orders. Customer service from employees deserves a reevaluation from the hiring managers, waited around 10/20 minutes for 2 drinks in the drive thru due to there not being a speaker. On top of that, the employee who took our order looked like he was either under the influence or having a really bad day. When I was a kid and we were driving home from the beach I remember seeing the freeway sign for the 8 freeway to El Centro. It was over a 100 miles away I wondered what it was like there. We always got off the freeway before we got anywhere near El Centro. I checked it out today on the way home from Scottsdale Arizona. It was a small town full of fast food places and taco shops. Looked kinda like El Cajon back in the old days. The coolest place I stopped to visit was The Donut Palace. It's classic looking drive through donut shop. Glazed donut was fluffy and had a delicious sweet glaze coating the yeast based dough. Awesome classic glazed donut. Apple fritter was huge a meal in itself! Loved the crunchy crust and glaze. Apple filling was delicious and plentiful. I was shocked they sold concha's here. Concha was big and denser than the glazed donut but not as dense as the apple fritter. Flavor was minimal. The Donut Palace has a nice classic vibe. I'm gonna be back for more donuts but I'm looking elsewhere for good concha's. read more

Love the ease and convenience of this place. I also appreciate the randomness of this "fusion" establishment. I came for some donuts and walked out with a Turkey Torta, a Thai Iced Tea, a Watermelon Smoothie, and some donut holes. Everything was good. RUDE AF and LAZY AF STAFF. Went on 8/10/23 at 8 AM and did not get acknowledged for about 10 minutes even though the other costumer inside had already been helped. Not even an " ill be with you in a minute" both female staff members ignored me and then a costumer on the drive tru was also igonored. These guys are a super small hole in the wall shop, open 24 hours (drive thru-even in the pandemic). They have the best coffee in the Imperial Valley. Their sausage, egg and cheese croissant is tasty and served on the largest, flakiest croissant I have ever seen. Everything is well priced. There doughnuts are good and fresh. They have an extensive smoothie menu but I have never tried the smoothies. They are very polite. Highly recommend. read more

This place has the best carne asada tortas I think in the Valley. The bread is made here and the flavor on the asada is very good. My family and friends who I recommend always talk about this place. Smoothies and coffee are also good. And the Mexican sweet bread is a must try. read more

This place is usually inundated with junior high and high school students who drop by to grab drinks and snacks. There is a makeshift drive-thru near the front entrance of this place so you can order from you car and grab your stuff and be on your way. For once, I am the first! Stopped by on a sweltering Wednesday morning. There were so many shiny donuts in the display window. I felt like a kid on Christmas morning. We ordered coffee and I had an apple turnover of sorts. I really wanted to try the Mexican bread but there was a plastic covering over them (read: baked yesterday). The Donut Palace once used to make good donuts, but not anymore. Their chocolate donuts have very little glaze if any, the dough is not mixed fully so it's not all chocolate, and the taste is off so it's not very sweet. The size and thickness has shrunk, too. Overall, the quality has gone down like as if they're cutting back on ingredients, but still charging the same price. I'm sorry to say I won't be frequenting this place anymore. read more

The donuts were way to thick. As big at 3-3 1/2 inches, so you can't take a full bite all in one bite. They're just way to sloppy looking, not uniform in size, and the texture ends up being really dry because it's too much dough for one doughnut. read more

A 24 hour doughnut place that sells Mexican food also. We stopped in for doughnuts though. Selection was not bad, not great. Of course it was late in the day so we were subject to what was left. Even though they are a 24 hour store, it appears they only make doughnuts once a day, probably sometime in the wee morning hours, so the doughnuts were not fresh fresh.
