My family and I travel to Mexicali once a month and on our way back home we always stop by this donut shop/restaurant. They have the best Menudo, Carne Asada Fries and, of course, their donuts are delicious. They also have Mexican sweet bread - yummm. The place is clean and the employees are nice. The only thing that I don't like is a regular that always seems to come in when we're there - he must be there daily because it never fails, we always see him. And he's rude, especially to the employees. They always treat him well, so I'm not sure what his deal is, lol Anyway, it's a great stop and we look forward to it. read more

One doesn't expect much from little town donut shops, but this place is good; donuts that is. Usually when a business combines different types of food something got to give. Like most places we've visited, found Donut Avenue just by passing by. Friendly staff, diverse menu of traditional donuts and Mexican pastries, plus a menu of hot food as well. We had their glazed donuts, and tamales. Hot coffee was poured into my thermos as per my preference to avoid their styrofoam cups. Paper bags and plates used, but we brought our own utensils to avoid their plastic ones. Will gladly update my rating to a 5 when I learn that they have stopped using styrofoam and the disposable utensils and replaced with more sustainable alternatives. read more

I had one of the best breakfast burritos from this place!! We were recommended from a woman at the gas station right near the border and I was pleasantly surprised. Donut Ave should consider changing their name to burrito Avenue. Our burritos took way longer than expected, but it must have been because of a rush of people. It's easier to order if you speak Spanish, especially since the menus were in spanish but being from San Diego (and the little Spanish I speak) I had no problem. This place is ridiculously unsanitary. I ordered an ochata and I was curious what was in it after I drank it, so i opened it and it had a cucarouch in it. The employees weren't surprised at all and just offered to replace my drink. I asked for my money and left. Most of all the bread had flies inside the counter. DON'T RECOMMEND AT ALL. My family and I have made this a stop on our trip to Mexicali for many times all around. This place does not only sell donuts, but many Mexican Food dishes as well. Their dish that is most ordered is the Carne Asada Torta. What I would usually get is a Chorizo with potato burrito or a carne asada burrito, which both are good. The food prices are cheap and often they do have specials on their food. They also have donuts obviously, and sell Mexican bread. What I usually get from their bread selection is their biscuit, which is delicious. I would say that the only downside of things is the maintenance of the place, which is pretty much run down and the way they keep clean is not so well. They do not clean their tables and usually one has to clean the table. This is why I call this place an okay type of place. read more

This place is very handy for people up late or all nite. The tortas are very good, I have had several asada "bistik" tortas. Have also had potato and chorizo burrito, so good, but not good for you! The donuts are good too, and I have seen people eating menudo here. Hey- Bakersfield has a donut store that makes Chinese food, and this donut shop makes all kinds of Mexican food. It is sometimes very slow. I usually visit this place on the way out of town late nite/early morning. Try it out, you will probably like it. read more

There are quite a bit of donut shops in the imperial valley and this is one of them. They offered varieties of donuts and bakery goods including mexican pastries. They also offered several Mexican fast food plates (enchiladas, burritos, tacos, tortas&fries etc.) The price here is very good. You can get like a big fat carne asada burrito for less than 5 bucks. The tortas here are pretty good too. Definitely try it out especially if you're from out of town. Good fast food at great price! screw the hygiene. read more

Since when did place became so stingy? Came here today to order the usual, torta de bistec for take out. I ordered 3 torta de bistec, 2 large drinks, and fries and everything came out to $20.75 which is pretty cheap to feed 3 people. I was pretty excited when the order finally came out so I rushed home where my sister and dad was waiting. Got back, we all unwrapped our torta to find minimal toppings in our torta. Mine was the worse of all 3. I had 1 thin slice of meat, total of 1 slice of tomato and small piece of avocado. Not to mention, the meat was bland as well :(. It was very disappointing because I've been coming here for years and I feel like as the years pass by, the food has gotten worse. They use to be very generous with everything, giving big portions and large amounts of whatever you order on their menu. I've been a really loyal costumer and I've been disappointed. I really like their donuts and not to exclude their delic...Tortas, it would be super if the place was a little cleaner, I've been there when they are cleaning and when they are not. I think is because they are understaff, they have lots of clients and are busy taking orders for the customers. The ladies are very polite and friendly.
