Please indulge me as I review The Donut Mill using two hypothetical donut situations. 1) If I get anywhere near this place I'm like an old satellite that's lost the ability to avoid the Donut Mill's gravitational pull before my face collides happily with a pile of donuts. 2) If my doctor tells me that each donut from The Donut Mill will cost me an hour of my life, I will choose to leave this earth with a mouth full of donuts and a smile. read more

We got an apple fritter that had crumbles on top that was just ok. No apples that we could detect. We also got a custard stuffed maple bar that was divine. Even though only one of the two donuts deserved a five star rating, it was so good that my overall rating is a five. read more

Donut shop with a drive-thru! [Eureka CA] Stopped by one morning for some road trip sweets heading to Crescent City. We walked inside to check out the selection. They have a nice assortment of classics with a lot of my favorites. I got a raised glazed, chocolate, and a cinnamon roll. The cinnamon roll was moist inside and not bread-like. Yummy fresh, pillow soft donuts! For those with time to spare, they have a few tables inside where they have complimentary morning newspaper for your reading pleasure. Read the papers while enjoying your coffee and donut. For timeline purposes the big news at this time was Russia invading Ukraine. I digress. The shop is family-owned and are friendly and helpful. Cool that they have a drive-thru window. The only donut places with a drive-thru in our area are chain establishments. Fast and easy and we were on our merry way... they are located off of Highway 101. You don't have to exit because US 101 cuts through the City of Eureka, I know, it's weird. We were in Eureka over night and got up early to go for a walk. We came across The Donut Mill on our walk to the bay. It didn't look like much from the outside, but there were a few cars that had stopped, so we decided to get a donut and coffee on our way back to our hotel. What a great place. The owners are so sweet! The donuts were fresh and delicious and the coffee was hot and tasty. We were heading out the door when one of the owner's said, "see you tomorrow". We told him we were on a road trip and were heading out that morning. He asked where we were from and made a little small talk. Humboldt is not known for donuts, to be honest, most of them are not great. This place however has the freshest, best tasting donuts anywhere around. They remind me of old school donut shop from LA donuts. The family that runs it is super friendly and kind and just make the experience great. They have a drive up service, but just park and go on inside for the full experience. It looks rough walking in from the outside, but I promise it will be worth it. read more

Delicious classic donuts. I had a maple bar and an apple fritter from here. The maple bar was excellent--fresh, a high quality yeast donut with a great glaze. But the apple fritter was the real star! I love the apple fritters here, at least for a while I will not be going back. The last two times I have been through the drive through they have messed up My order: first time I ordered two apple fritters, they gave me one and kept the change. The second time I again asked for two apple fritters, even checked the bag, though did not notice I got two cinnamon rolls. Today I went in to talk to them about it, and when I explained I just wanted to try to prevent it from happening in the future the manager laughed and told me "No." To be treated that way when I was only looking to problem solve, not looking for a refund or free donuts was insulting. The owners are pleasant, efficient and always friendly, even when they're busy... which is always, in the mornings.
