The Board Hound was recommended by the Animal Behavior Wellness Center (Fairfax) early in our journey. Everyday they balance group play with enrichment and learning (brain games). For example, last week they introduced Finn to bubbles and although he was tentative at first, with gentle encouragement he ended up loving the bubbles (the pics of his bubble exploration are in the attached report card)! This is just one example - they've not only reinforced my training but advanced Finn's training when it comes to reactivity (their training the "wait" command has been a godsend). The Board Hound's curriculum (my word) includes personalized care based on Finn's need, their recommendations are always given from their expertise and in the best interest of Finn. If Finn wants to be on the floor playing, in the suite resting, or needs one-on-one time, they accommodate regardless of what the "schedule" says. We recently moved houses and Finn struggled with the change and added stress. The Board Hound made me aware of the changes they had seen in his behavior and helped me manage his stress. They temporarily adjusted his day to ensure he was getting more rest, shortened his group play sessions to limit over stimulation, and increased his one-on-on time with the staff doing brain games and other activities. They provided updates and made sure I had a good sense of what they were seeing day-to-day. This reduced Finn's overall stress and made the transition to our new home easier. I cannot overstate how much I appreciate everything The Board Hound offers as support for my pup and his well being including the expertise of the staff, their excellent communication, and ongoing attentiveness to Finn's needs. After a few sessions, she started to play with all the dogs and became confident in her ability to socialize with puppies of different sizes. The puppy socials are on Sundays so it's very convenient for working dog parents. Additionally, they have staff in the sessions explaining what to do which we really appreciated! We learned a lot even though we thought we knew dog training very well. We never tried their other services but the staff is super nice and accommodating and highly recommend their puppy socials for new puppy owners. I believe they are $10 per session.

One of my favorite parts of every visit is chatting with the staff. They're talented and genuinely fun people who clearly love what they do. We always end up trading cat terminology--"toe beans," "bean sprouts," and whatever new phrase we've picked up that week. It's such a small thing, but it makes the whole experience feel personal. The team really knows how to pamper kittens and treat them like the royalty they believe they are. If you want your cats to be cared for by people who truly get them, this is the place. My dog Beatrix has separation anxiety but does well in daycare settings, so when I travel I will typically find a local daycare for a day so I can go to a museum or some other activity that is not dog friendly. I have specifically reached out to several day care facilities in the area with various degrees of success. I walked past District Dogs on a walk with Beatrix and stopped in to inquire about setting up an evaluation. The person at the counter told me to fill out the application on their website and then I can schedule the evaluation. I filled out the application, loading my vaccination records, and was able to book an evaluation for the very next day, which happened to be Christmas Eve. This sounds relatively simple right? Well it's not. Just scheduling an evaluation and loading vaccine records is usually a very painful process, but it was so easy with District Dogs! I dropped Beatrix off for the eval, and then she was able to stay for the rest of the day. Rates are comparable to other daycares and the cameras on the app worked well; I was glad I could look in on her throughout the day. 1,000% recommend District Dogs!

First, I noticed that the space seemed too small for the number of dogs present. There was only one employee overseeing both the small and large dog areas, but she spent most of her time in the big dog area. Unfortunately, the small dogs were largely unattended, and the employee only went into the small dog area to clean up after pee or poop. This left the smaller dogs, including my own, without adequate supervision for extended periods. More concerning was the behavior of the staff member responsible for overseeing the dogs. It was clear to me that she did not have much care or concern for the animals. I observed her taking a couple of naps, ignoring the dogs, and even holding a small dog up in the air with one hand as if it were a toy. At one point, she removed all the small dogs from their designated area but left my 20-pound dog alone, only to later let in the larger dogs to share the same space. I have video evidence of all these. My dog was visibly stressed throughout the entire stay, his discomfort was evident. My recommendation to dog parents, always watch the cameras! and don't go with the look if the facility.

We toured the back yard which was mostly concrete, as my dog was walking around, he found a dead and completely flat bird laying on the ground that looked like it had been there for months. There were several water bowls throughout the back yard that were full of super dirty water. He said that he walks through regularly to clean the yard, but somehow missed the flattened and dry dead bird. When we went to drop off my dog, Myron did not let me dog be introduced to the other dogs, instead he LEGITIMATELY PUSHED MY DOG OUT THE BACK DOOR and shut the door behind him while he was terrified and yelping in fear as all the other dogs surrounded him and the same aggressive dog lunged at him. And dog ran back in fear and ran into the glass door. Again, should have walked out of there then, regrets. When we went to pick up our dog, Myron was still sleeping, he forgot when we had planned to pick him up. When we got my dog back, he had a cut on his nose that looked recent and he was absolutely FILTHY, covered in mud. I understand that dogs get into tiffs, and accidents happen, but Myron didn't even acknowledge the injury, which makes me suspect he didn't even notice it happen.

I recently left my 11 year old cat for a few days while I was traveling out of state. He doesn't…read morelike boarding but I hoped having his own room, not being around dogs at the vet, etc. would make him less stressed. He came home and for the past two days has been vomiting and had diarrhea. It seems either because the people stressed him out or because he caught something there that he has gotten sick with, and now I have to see if my vet can fit him in today. Furthermore I know the report cards are misleading because his second day supposedly he had stool, urine, and was eating but when I picked him up his chart said he had only eaten once in four days. The Webcam was also turned off several times, so now I'm worried that he was already sick there and they were hiding that from me. Especially considering the price, I 100% *do not recommend* this place at all. These people are dishonest and not worthy of your money.

She has a big yard full of fresh green grass... couches and dog beds to relax in... it truly can be your dog's home away from home. Daycare facilities are loud, surrounded by hard, cold concrete walls and floors and harsh fluorescent light... not very homey at all! Natalie is also one of the best pup videographers you'll ever meet. You get constant updates just by visiting her Instagram stories, and of course she send pictures and videos too. She is a true gem and I hope everyone is as lucky as me and Hamlet to know her!

Robert is consistently very responsive to scheduling changes and etc. In four years he has never gotten a number wrong on a bill -- even when we have last-minute canceled, added, and rescheduled numerous times in a month.
