Yesterday (New Year's Day) was the first time I've ever bought a cake for my dog's birthday. I was pleasantly surprised and very grateful that they were open on New Year's Day. The staff were incredibly nice and friendly. My dog is an extremely picky eater and usually refuses dog treats and even dog food, so I was honestly worried he wouldn't eat the cake. To my surprise and delight, he loved it! We celebrated my dog's 12th birthday after just undergoing surgery. I would definitely recommend this place. I was able to pick it up same day basically walk in and pick one from the 3 different cake shapes they offer and pick the flavor too. I went with the bone shape and original cake flavor with a white frosting and peanuts on the rim. I had been meaning to stop by for a long time since three dog bakery went out of business in San Clemente. My dog tried the peanut butter treats and loved them. There is a good selection of items made in house and additional chew treats etc. This definitely will be a new go to spot for us. I mentioned my dog had allergies and right off the bat the staff kindly pointed out options that my dog could consume. I ended up getting the half dozen box and they threw in a few samples for my pup to try. Got home and my pup gobbled a treat. She had a second yesterday. Pre-ordered our dog's cake a few days before and picked it up with no issues on the day of. Parking is street parking, but found one across the street. There's also neighborhood parking if you can't find street parking. It was so helpful to have the bakers let us know the shelf life and how to store/serve the cake. I never had an issue until recently when I got my dogs (20 lbs each) a few of the baked biscuit. One cheddar and one peanut butter. When we got home I cut one in half and didn't realize until after my dog choked on it, that it was really hard. Usually the baked goods are soft. He was choking and I put my fingers down his throat and felt it stuck. It was too far to pull out so I tried to push it down his throat. First attempt didn't work so I quickly did it again and pushed it harder to clear his throat so he could breathe. I almost lost him had it not been for my quick response. I'm upset that they sell those baked biscuits when they are old and hard. It's a choking hazard!!! read more

So we strolled by after dinner and the delicious smells brought us through the door. What a fun place! And our doggos LOVED the treats we brought them! I let our little one smell the hamburger and he snatched it out of my hand! And then he growled at me when I tried to take it back because I wanted to give half to our big one. Stumbled upon this cute little dog bakery shop while walking around Downtown. We had a little pup with us so we decided to poke our heads in, as the inside had cute decor. Little did we know, the cute decor was the worst thing about this place! The workers were super friendly, gave us samples for the little pup to try and indulge, and had such a good variety of treats and other pet accessories. We ended up getting a few PB snacks, but they have different options if your pet had any allergies (grain-free, wheat-free, etc options). Valerie and Victoria were amazing! Valerie greeted my fur baby with a snack as soon as we walked in which he loved! Valerie also walked me around the store giving me information on the snacks they have. She was informing me on their jerky that had specific ingredients to keep my dog's immune system and digestive system healthy! I went ahead and purchased the Immunity & Digestion Beef Jerky snacks that my dog ended up loving! Victoria also helped me with getting baked goods for my dog that he would love because I told her how picky he is. I got him the peanut butter snack that looked so cute and even had a dog bone snack on top! Victoria also recommended the Chicken Pup Noodles that are packaged soo cute! I've heard of The Dog Bakery before as they're super well known for their birthday cakes and they're all over Instagram. It was my dog's 3rd birthday and I was looking to get her a special treat but I wasn't looking to buy a birthday cake as I think it's way too big to split between even 2 dogs. I'll contemplate it again when she hits a special milestone like 5 years old but I did want to check out the store to see what else they offered so I thought I'd give it a shot. Parking: it's all street parking on 2nd street and most of them metered unless you park more into the residential neighborhood. Even though it's metered, they give you a free 15 min grace period if you're just looking to pick up quickly so that was super nice! Store: walking in, the bakery item goods were on the right side on the counter and on the left were of dog accessories, toys and packaged goods. I didn't browse for anything else other than baked items as that's what I came looking for. They had really cute cupcake sized treats as well as cookies. They include grain free items if your dog has a grain allergy so every dog can get a treat! I opted for the 6 item bundle value was $21 and it was discounted for $16ish. I picked up the carrot cake, the burger, the whoopie pie, the PB bone cupcake, a grain free bar and 3 cake pop bites. It was a special occasion so I felt the bundle value was super worth it not to mention the treats are decorated so cute! Taste: my dog absolutely devoured them so needless to say, she absolutely enjoyed it! Highly recommend this place if you're looking to spoil your dogs. I'll be coming back for more! read more

UPDATE AFTER POSTING REVIEW: Took the cake out from the fridge because we were going to take some fun Barkday photos at the beach...well now the entire cake is cracked everywhere!!! Now I'm just upset... ---------------------------- Looks like I should have read some reviews before purchasing and I left pretty disappointed with our purchase... What happened to the cakes?! They're so FLAT now!! I've purchased a cake from the LA location a while back and they used to be thicker and looked like a cake - now it's like they cut that cake in half and using the top 1/2 and bottom 1/2 as 2 separate cakes.... I was so excited to purchase a cake to celebrate my pups big 10th birthday (it's TODAY 10/6/24 - YAY!!) Called in yesterday to ask if they had any pre-made cakes which they luckily they did so I decided to order one (thinking I'd receive a nice thick cake like my previous purchase). When I arrived to pick it up I was definitely surprised when I saw the display of pretty underwhelming sample cakes... But ours was already paid for over the phone and custom message written on the cake so I took it. Leaving the store my husband was even shocked and had mentioned that for the price customers are paying for these cakes you'd expect more or better quality (I agree). I unfortunately will not be returning to The Dog Bakery for future cakes, taking this as a loss ;( read more
