Made the long trek to Bruce's empty bowl after hearing them on kiis fm awhile back.. my dog being allergic to lots of different foods. I was able to find him lots of chicken treats and goodies that he loves. I wish they had more of a selection of clothes for large dogs but overall it was worth the drive.. read more

After moving to Long Beach two years ago, it was hard to find a local pet store outside of Petco & Petsmart and once I found this spot its been a nice spot to stop by and grab a little bit of everything for my two dogs. Selection is pretty solid and would love to see more supplements and DIY food kits but at the end of the day they hit it out of the park with different bones, treats, clothes, and other forms of enrichment that I cant complain too much The owner is super accomodating and is always friendly which makes this place even better. Love supporting local businesses and its exciting to see him doing his best for the community. I came in here one evening wanting to support a local business, but the only cat food they had on the shelf (the place is completely empty) was $30 for a tiny bag with like 4 scoops worth... The lady working was very nice so I gave 2 stars but I will not be returning. What a shame. read more

My partner and I adopted our first cat back in March of this year, and we're always on the lookout for good quality cat food and supplies. I was enjoying my day off today from work, and I decided to head out to Long Beach to sight-see and have a solo day for myself. After doing some light shopping, I wanted to stop by some pet supply stores to stock up on cat food. Yelp recommended Bruce's Empty Bowl to me because of its high reviews. The store is located inside the Pine Square shopping center in Downtown Long Beach. The inside of the store is also very clean and organized with excellent customer service. I believe that the gentleman at the front counter is the owner of the store, and he was very courteous. He even provided me with free samples for my cat to try! Yo, this place is awesome. I live down the street and I'm very happy that there is a Dog Store literally conveniently next to me so I don't have to drive far. I called yesterday because my dog is having some bowel movement problems. Literally diarrhea for the last week was stressing me out, so I called and asked them if they had anything like probiotics or something I can give my dog just to see if we can try to get his stool a lot better. When I walked in the guy was very nice totally forgot his name but I will get it. I told him what was going on and he suggested me a canna pumpkin. He said look try this out. It's cheaper a lot better and it will help your dog I gave my dog The pumpkin last night as of right now we are walking outside and his poop is hard orange with the rest of the food and clear no more diarrhea. This was very stressful to me this past week and I'm just so happy that my dog is able to poop regular. The store is awesome. I will be coming back to get my dog shit because I don't wanna drive far and they have a cool bulldog in the front. read more
