Exceptional customer service. Attention to small customer needs. Traveling with an elderly patent can present difficulty. Manager suggested we could wait in car until our table was ready and he would come get us. That's exactly what he did. Place was crowded on arrival had a 15 minute wait, not so bad our waitress Alyssa was friendly and attentive I ordered the crab cake Benedict with hashbrowns and my husband had the Denver omelette with bacon and we shared the cinnamon roll pancakes. I didn't care for my Benedict but my husband loved it (it was new for me) but I loved those pancakes! Would definitely come again for those pancakes. read more

We live right down the road from The Diner and the breakfast is very tasty. They have a chicken fried steak omelette that will leave you hooked. The only reason I give it 4 stars is the service can be hit and miss. read more

That was, until, I was convinced to make a trip to The Diner in Tyler, Texas. Do not be fooled by the restaurant's unassuming name. Patrons at this establishment are in for a delectable dining experience. Located on South Broadway near the Carmike 14 movie theater, The Diner is situated in a comfortable strip of stores, and despite the seeming lack of spaces in the front parking lot, The Diner has plenty of space in the back. Upon entering The Diner, you will be greeted with an aroma of fresh brewed coffee and a mixture of breakfast and lunch that will have you struggling to decide which way to go. I chose both. I ordered the seafood omelet, which is your choice of blackened tilapia or salmon (tilapia for me) served inside fluffy eggs with blackened shrimp in etouffee sauce on the side. Added to that were the hash browns and toast. Served hot and fresh, the meal was exceptional, and, in these hard economic times, very reasonable. The cheapest meal I could find was the breakfast taco plate at $4.99. The most expensive single item was sirloin and eggs, coming in at just under twelve dollars. Those who choose to have lunch instead can have classic favorites like chicken fried steak and grilled chicken. But you might also have the chicken fried burger or a plate of fried green tomatoes. If the ample portions of either breakfast or lunch have not filled you up, get adventurous and try the alliterative dessert selection, with colorful intriguing names like Chocolate Chip Coma or Fruit Fantasia. The atmosphere is casual, on an open floor with comfortable booths, an amalgamation of classic and modern décor, and soft-boiled lighting. As an added benefit, The Diner also provides free Wi-Fi to its patrons. Those of you dining on a holiday, weekend, or need to have a quick lunch be warned. You may have a brief waiting time before being seated. It's certainly well worth it, however. The Diner is a patron's trifecta: good food, reasonable prices, comfortable atmosphere. We take our family get togethers to Lake Palestine which is right there with The Diner. At the end of our trip it is a tradition to eat breakfast at The Diner before we hit the road back to home. We have shown up with as little as 8 people to as big as 25 people. The staff at The Diner always accomodates us and the service is outstanding. You would think with a big group that we've had there before it would take forever but it doesn't. Not only is the service outstanding but the food is perfect, delicious, scrumptous and any other word that shows how fantastic the food is. We always hate leaving the Tyler area but we always look forward to our traditional breakfast at The Diner. We are taking one of our trips for Memorial Day weekend so we will see you the 25th. read more

Great local breakfast joint! My 'go to' place for a mid Saturday meal on a solo outing or when meeting up with a friend for a late brunch. Food is good and feel has a bit of the old fashioned family appeal. I love their turkey bacon with 2 Friend eggs, skillet potatoes, grits, and toast with a cup of coffee! Pretty good little breakfast place. Good size portions. Lots of choices and unique menu items. My husband had the brisket omelette and loved the grilled tomatoes. I had the "crab cake Benedict". Crab cakes were pretty big and had good flavor, eggs were cooked perfectly. For some reason though, I got the impression of the place being a bit "rough around the edges" and I'm not sure why. Can't really be upset about that at a place called "The Diner" though. Coffee was meh, food took a bit to come out, a drink refill for my son was forgotten, but nothing major. Overall though, a pleasant first experience and we will be back. read more

Nice atmosphere, but horrible service. My sister ordered a hot dog. Menu said relish and onions on request. Didn't request them; got them anyway. Sent it back, and got the SAME HOT DOG back -- they scraped the stuff off the top and put more cheese on it, but there was still relish underneath the hot dog on the bun. If she'd been allergic to pickles, she'd be dead or at least in the hospital. We won't be going back. read more
