I made a variety of stops during a recent trip to central Oregon and this place easily gets the prize for being the worst by far - all because of the one snooty woman working there. The place itself is just what you'd expect, a lot of helpful brochures with information not just about Sunriver, but for things to see and do in the broader area. The space is clean, decent sized and well organized, and restrooms are just outside but in the same building. For a place like this you also expect friendly staff. Sadly, that's not the case here. When I walked in, the woman was helping a couple right near the entrance. She didn't acknowledge my presence when I walked in or at any time during the probably 5 minutes I was there browsing. Not a smile, nod, any sort of eye contact, comment that she'd be with me shortly... Nothing. To her, I was invisible and not even there. The place isn't *that* big and there were only 2 other people there - the 2 she was helping. Think of the space as being the size of a large living room, and I looked at all the brochure racks in the place, so yeah, she knew I was there. Not to stereotype, but looking at her then looking at the people she was helping, I'd bet that the more affluent you appear, the better service you will receive by this woman that is supposedly there to help everyone. IOW, if you don't look like you live in a gated community, go in and get your brochures then ask Google what more you should know. Conversely, the La Pine Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center is a WONDERFUL place to stop and chat and learn more about what you should know about the area. The woman who helped me there asked which direction I was headed and what I liked to do and then recommended a stop that I thoroughly enjoyed but wouldn't have known about if it weren't for her. So yeah, if you just want printed material to read on your own later, go here. If you want to talk to real locals that want to help you to enjoy your stay, go to the Visitors Center in La Pine.

They have considerable information and resources available so that all of C.O. can be enjoyed and explored.

It puts many people off of the roads and into large buses which keeps the roads from being too overcrowded and slow. Though it is worth noting to do your homework before you take this shuttle before you catch it to make it a five star experience. I learned the hard way how to take this shuttle but you can avoid my mistakes by following these helpful guidelines. 1. Know what times to avoid. There are certain times that this shuttle is packed and many people have to stand the entire ride because they were not early enough. 7:45am 8:20am and 3:30pm are times that are packed on the weekends and holidays. Show up 20 minutes before the time and you are set typically. 2. Store your gear in the bottom racks if you can. The racks in the back tend to get packed full of people slamming their gear in to make it fit. If you value your possessions, use the racks below the bus. 3. Bring exact cash. They do not take card and do not give out change. Bring the exact amount in cash for both arrival and departure and you will be fine. 4. Relax and enjoy the fact that you do not have to drive on that nightmare of a highway. If you follow these steps, you will be set to have a four to five star experience. Recently was visiting friends in Bend, OR with my dog and needed a pet friendly place to stay…read more Found a great little place just a few minutes away in the cute little Western town of Tumalo. Very comfortable king bed, nicely decorated, clean and quiet. It is walking distance to a wonderful coffee/bakery the Tumalo Coffeehouse, Mexican restaurant, pizzeria, gas station, organic grocery store. I noticed a lot of bicyclists on the road and heard it is a stopping point for many bike routes in the area. Just up the main highway there is the larger shopping center with Trader Joe's and downtown Bend is only about 10 minutes from there. I heard you can float the Deschutes river in the summertime from the Tumalo State Park down to the little town of Tumalo, so will have to try that next time. The gas station across the street was so noisy at times I could not sleep...Diesel engines idling for hours in front of this rental. The deck which was falling apart had furniture with wire slats and no cushions that fit. The BBQ grate was rusty, filthy and full of insect webs. The backyard looked like a rubbish dump. My recommendation is FIND ANOTHER PLACE! This is no bargain.

Bright, clean, spacious, it's so ample with two living room spaces and ample bedrooms (that have GREAT mattresses in them btw), we felt so fortunate to have this to come back to after some aggressive hiking. The kitchen is superbly appointed, with a fantastic stove - and a grill that works. You will love this space! We will be back next year and this will be our spot. Felt so luxurious for the pricing. Thanksgiving we rented a 2 bedroom condo that we have stayed in many times prior to this rental. Who uses single ply toilet paper and paper towels? We have one garbage bag for entire time. How about white hotel towels and flat sheets? Who does this? I personally only use a flat sheet as a top sheet. Uncomfortable beds, but ok for Thanksgiving Dinner. This property also has a courtyard area with a fire pit, hot tub, and cold tub. My air-conditioned room had 2 TVs, one for each room, which was nice. The free, Wi-Fi was also nice, but the extra touch was the various cables they had in the room--great for people who forget to bring that one thing they really needed. The house is very small and outdated but generally has everything you would need to enjoy your stay, they customer service people at bluebird seem to be very helpful.

I have never posted a review for a rental before. I visited with my son's family and could not…read morebelieve the issues he faced while renting from BlueBird Day. My son has a 19-month-old and a 2-month-old. The home rented was a 3 bedroom and 2 story home. There is only 1 HVAC controller downstairs in the living room. The upstairs was hot as compared to the downstairs. Bend, OR was experiencing smokie days during this time. The smoke was lingering in the house and did not seem to be conditioned, or even moving. The only air coming out of the upstairs registers was just moving the smoke down around the baby. My son went out and purchased $1,000 of air purifiers to help. Without these, the home would have been uninhabitable and they would have to leave it. The air purifiers were hard to find as all places were sold out of them. Everyone in Bend seemed to have purchased any and all purifiers everywhere. When getting them in the house, right away one of them read 164. Not a good thing for a baby or anyone. Then I suggested looking at the HVAC filters. To my surprise and horror, the filters were turned over instead of new ones installed, as if someone thought that they could filter from both sides. The arrow was pointing in the wrong direction for airflow. This put the extremely dirty side from the past several months on the top and on the side where the HVAC handler is, meaning it was blowing dirt through the system and into the rooms. In addition, the other side was so filthy that there was no way anything was being filtered. This is why the smoke was lingering in the house and the differences in the temp. BlueBird Day lied and stated they had replaced them before my son arrived. I have never seen this kind of thing happen. We put new air filters in that we went and bought and then everything got much better. The air was then filtered, the flow was good, the air quality in the home was much better, and the temperatures were synced up. My son attempted to resolve these issues with BlueBird but they were horrible in regards to assisting him. He asked for a partial refund for putting his children in danger and they refused. AirBnB did assist a little with this, but not much. I would NOT ever rent from BlueBird Day. I can't believe how badly they treat their guests. They have no concern for the safety of children and were not compassionate in any regard.

In the Am we visited not one but 2 amazing bakeries! #1 Sisters Bakery and #2 Angeline's Bakery on our way to Portland. (listed in no specific order) People had requested specific things from each bakery so we got to taste lots of delicious things; #1 apple fritters, doughnuts and sourdough bread and #2 bagels, quiche and a berry strudel or something that was to drool for! Even though it was only 51 to 57 degrees outside this weekend, it was 73 degrees in the room the entire trip (unless I opened the windows) and then had to deal with cars, trucks, and motorcycles. Got two rough nights of sleep. No chair in the room to sit on, so your only seating is the bed. Shower is extremely tiny and the head sprays straight down. Can't really angle it toward your body so I couldn't get clean in all the private places. Nice people running the property and it is easy to park. If you sleep warm and/or are specific with your climate needs I would not recommend it. I can't even imagine how warm the room is when it's 80+ degrees outside in the heart of summer. My room was the upstairs unit. Maybe the first floor is cooler, not sure. But mine was miserable and I couldn't get comfortable to sleep. I felt no air coming out of the vent. The fans didn't help. It was either cool with loud sounds all night, or super hot and quiet. Too much street noise all day except from around 11pm-7am daily. Next time I'll stay at an actual hotel with independent thermostats.
