My friend and I dropped by around 7:00 PM on a Friday night and the place was popping. We put our names down on the list and were told it would take an hour to be seated. We first went up to the 21+ bar area on the top deck where they were playing live music. It was too crowded and loud for me, so we went down to the bar downstairs. Our bartender was nice and got us our drinks right away. I got the SOBER STRAWBERRY drink which was fine just a bit too tart for me. After only around 20 or so minutes we got a text that our table was ready so we went over to grab it. When we sat down, service unfortunately took a turn and it took forever to get our orders in, get our food, etc. We ordered a few items to share: -CLAM CHOWDER: Chowder flavor was good and a nice portion. -BEET SALAD: The beets were nice and tasty and went well with the greens and dressing. -MUSSELS: Flavor was fine. There were some that weren't cooked as well, also a lot of sand in some of the mussels as well. They did also have a few toasted bread slices to dip into the broth which is always a nice touch. All in all, an ok spot for a bite to eat but wish service could have been stronger.

I've gone to The Deck quite a few times! Every time has been pretty good. I got a mojito this time around and the scallop appetizer. It honestly is big enough for an entree! It came with pork belly and cauliflower purée with a chimichurri. It was cooked really well but the scallops were a little gritty (I don't know why!). The drink was strong but tasted great! Our waitress was super attentive and the food came out quickly. And of course, who doesn't love the view? Sadly when I went, it was cloudy! But that's okay because then that meant there was no wait (usually the wait is so long). And it was cool, not too hot. Honestly ideal! I always come back, but I do wish the menu was a bit more expansive.

idk about anyone else, but when i visit a nice restaurant with a view of the water, the first thing i'm thinking is clam chowder, i would say i am a connoisseur of chowders and after a 2 day boat trip, trying 3 different chowders along the way, The Deck's CLAM chowder had me very disappointed. it tasted like thick chicken soup and was way overseasoned, i couldnt even recognize the clams in my bites because of the overwhelming chicken flavor. i literally sent it back because it didnt fulfill my craving for clam chowder and.. i'm not a picky eater but it just wasn't good. and then the cherry on top, my dad also had a bowl & finished his (he was hungrier than i) aaand it left him with an upset stomach & unpleasant bathroom trips all night. great truffle fries, & the sandwiches on the menh looked good! just don't go here if you're craving the authentic flavor of clam chowder.

came to this restaurant with my mom and dad earlier today. My mom is handicapped, and we had her service dog with us. Out of respect, I even called ahead to make sure it wouldn't be an issue, and the host on the phone told me it was "no problem at all." We spent over 150 on food that was honestly nothing special literally two drinks each and two appetizers-- completely average. Our blonde waitress I wish I remembered her name she had a braid and her hair was up. She was amazing !! After dinner, we just wanted to sit and enjoy the band upstairs with a drink. That's when the night completely turned. The two hosts at the front desk were nothing short of useless. They spent the entire night glued to their phones, blatantly ignoring multiple people trying to get seated. When we walked up to politely ask for a table to finish our drinks, they gave us attitude like we were inconveniencing them. Then one of them -- I believe her name is Layla -- had the nerve to point at my mom's service dog, saying it was "too far away" from us. The only reason the dog wasn't right beside us was because I was literally helping my disabled mother safely get down the stairs. Instead of showing any understanding or basic human decency, she chose to nitpick and embarrass us in public. To make it worse, they were so obvious and unprofessional about talking about us -- Layla? pointed right at us, and the second I caught her, she looked away like a coward. Absolutely pathetic behavior for someone who supposedly works in hospitality. This place should be ashamed of how they treat paying customers -- especially families dealing with disabilities. We followed every rule, confirmed ahead of time, and spent good money here, only to be humiliated and disrespected by two people who clearly care more about scrolling on their phones than doing their jobs. I strongly suggest management rethinks who they put at the front door, because right now, it's an embarrassment to the entire restaurant.

We had an amazing time having lunch at the Deck this summer. We ordered drinks by the water and the customer service was great. Our server, Casey, was an absolute delight. She was kind and helpful with recommendations. We ordered wine and lobster rolls and we VERY impressed with how much lobster was in the roll. Very generous portion and my favorite lobster roll of our trip to New England. We will definitely be back.

    The duck was there!

Beautiful views! The wait staff (Sarah) were so kind and fast with our orders. Food was fantastic! Cannot wait to go back for their clam chowder.

Our only real option was two seats at the bar. We had quick and attentive service from the bartender. Interesting offerings for cocktails, and we enjoyed our drinks. The food I think can be best described as American/Thai/Asian. Food came pretty fast, and we started with crab rangoon, and possibly the largest we have ever been served. Fried up crisp, not greasy and generously filled with cream cheese and real crab. Next up, we tried the Waygu burger which was quite good, nice toppings. My only complaint here was we wished the fries were fresh out of the fryer. I'm really fussy about fries and like them hot, crispy and fresh. Sadly, these were not. I had my eye on the Choco Taco for dessert, and this was a sophisticated version of the classic frozen treat you may have enjoyed from the ice cream truck as a kid. Home made with great ingredients, it was a perfect finish to a very nice meal. I would definitely give these guys a try when in Newburyport.

After going whale watching right out of the Merrimack River in the morning, my friend and I wanted…read moreto eat lunch nearby. I had done some research and apparently Brine is a favorite, so we went there. We stayed in the lot we were at and paid $2/hr to park through the passport parking app. It was a beautiful day for outdoor seating, but since the only tables left were directly in the sun, we stayed inside but because they had to windows open, the breeze was still flowing through. We started with the small power tower (cause duh, we're at an oyster bar!) which was supposed to come with 6 oysters, 4 littleneck clams, 2 jumbo cocktail shrimp, and a half order of crudo. Since we both aren't a fan of raw clams, we begged politely to have it swapped for something else and the compromise was 2 oysters. There were 4 options for oysters (Chatham-Chatham, MA, Crowes Pasture-Duxbury, MA, Norumbega-Damariscotta, ME, and Rose and Garnet-Falmouth, MA) so we ended up with 2 of each. As an appetizer, we had the octopus skewer (roasted garlic and zuchinni yogurt, crispy potato, pearl onion, pepperoncini, herbs) and for entrees, we ordered the halibut (jasmine rice, ginger coconut broth, charred asparagus, cilantro chimichurri) and scallop + garganelli (corn, black pepper, brown butter, tarragon breadcrumbs). The oysters tasted fresh with the Norumbega being our favorite. They could've done a little better with shucking them since we did find hard little pieces of stuff in some of them. The sauces they came with were all incredible; the green one tasted like an avocado cilantro and the cocktail sauce was the best I've ever had. The shrimp were massive, juicy, and tender with a snap to them. I didn't like the crudo much since it was in a ponzu sauce so far too much umami for me where it took away from the fresh fish flavor. I would've liked a half order of the halibut instead. The octopus was a little bland; I think they were relying on the sauce to provide all the flavor. It was cooked well, but I wish it was more tasty. I loved the crispy potatoes on top of the sauce as well as the pepperoncini. The halibut was well cooked and the crispy finish to the top was incredible. The broth reminded me of a lighter (in flavor) and less viscous Thai coconut curry. The asparagus was overcooked or maybe not as fresh - I wish it were still bright green and crisp. The scallop and garganelli was amazing. The sauce was thick, savory, and I loved the big pieces of crushed black pepper as well as the sweet corn. The pasta shape was new to me but it did well to capture the sauce. The scallops were cooked perfectly and it came with a good amount. Their bathrooms are very spacious and clean. Our server did a great job; she helped us make some decisions, was patient with last minute changes, and smiled the whole time.

They ended up filling up a little bit after we arrived. It was cute how the menu lists out all team members including servers. That's a sweet touch and I guess easy to do when they're changing menus every few weeks. We liked how fresh and clean everything tasted. Seafood portions were big too. We ordered: small power tower, dozen oysters (3 of each on their menu), 2 composed oysters, octopus skewer, mussels, lobster salad, crab bisque, lobster pasta, and baked Alaska We started off with the small power tower. We couldn't choose the oysters or ceviche but it came out being 3 Dixon Point, 3 Norumbega, and tuna crudo. The ceviche portion seemed a bit small even after knowing that it's half a portion of a regular order. My family enjoyed the oysters so much that we ended up ordering a dozen more, 3 of each available at the time. It was fun to try out the different flavor profiles across the various oysters. We also inquired about the composed oysters which changes even more regularly than their menu. Each time it's some sort of tart flavor and a fruity flavor. When we went, they added grape and some sort of vinegar to it. We didn't expect that combination and it turned out quite refreshing. Octopus skewer might be the least favorite of the table. The texture was a bit soft, more mushy than tender chewy. Mussels were also something my family liked. I only ate a few pieces because I had a muddy one in the beginning. Lobster salad was a crowd favorite given the large pieces of lobster and avocado. Using bibb lettuce made it less wet and watery which adds to the creaminess. Lobster pasta felt duplicative when we already got lobster salad but I still really wanted to order it for some creamy savoriness and carbs. It hit the spot for sure. Unfortunately there were a few pieces of lobster that weren't as fresh and couldn't eat. We told them about it and didn't request for anything but they ended up comping the dish. We last minute added the crab bisque after enjoying all the other items so much. I didn't like the smokey flavor so didn't have too much. At the end we were so satisfied that we wanted to try out the desserts too. We were debating between the baked Alaska and the tofu cheesecake. We ended up getting the baked Alaska because it seems more unique. It's not the type where you get a whole ice cream mountain covered in meringue that they'll bake, torch, or pour alcohol lit on fire. I think it's more like a deconstructed baked Alaska - disappointing but still looked nice and tasted good. The meringue was whipped very nicely, thick fluffy texture. The torch on it was just right too, providing sufficient char in appearance and flavor. The black sesame praline on top was surprising as an element and its nice toasty smokey addition to the dish. The splash of yuzu (or passionfruit?) sauce at the bottom was sufficient for the cake pieces and not sweet meringue (I know it probably still has a lot).
