Addicting. That is all I have to say. Accidentally stumbled upon this hair salon while traveling for work and very happy I decided to get my hair braided. Very professional. Very cute and unique styling and the hair is super light. Now anytime I want braids I set up an appointment in a city near me: Philly, New York or Charlotte. I'm changing my review for the DAMN Salon. I went here faithfully for a year and 8 months. The last time I went was July 2013 after I did my big chop. They were running a special on the Urban Twists and I wanted to take advantage of it. She didn't start on my hair until an hour after I got there...I was being patient while they didn't acknowledge me while waiting. I paid using my debit card and tipped cash like I always do. However, I was charged $50 more than the price I was quoted. It was too late to call back to address this innocent mistake, so I waited until the next day. No biggie, right? I called the next day and was told they had to add more hair to make the twists thicker. Who the hell was gunna tell ME? Why wasn't this discussed with ME while I was at the salon? So the girl says I can come in for a free wash and conditioning...which never happen. THREE DAYS later and my damn twists start slipping and eventually came out in the FRONT. I called and spoke with the same chic and she asked me to come and get it fixed. I was on vacation!! Long story short, I went to get the twists redone...no apology, no free shampoo...no nothing! I got screwed. Bad customer service and playing with my money is enough reason not to EVER go back. P.S. I go to another girl who ROCKS! She uses the same hair and I'm only in the chair for 3 hours. I visited the salon almost two weeks ago and wanted to wait some time before writing a review (since many reviewers seemed to have had issues with hair extensions falling out). I still haven't had issues with my Urban Twists coming undone or slipping out and I was able to sleep on my twist-out without redoing them the following days. I was recommened by a friend about a month ago and wanted a hair protective style that would last longer than box braids (since I'm natural and my kinks seem to escape the enclosure of braids quite easily). I was very impressed with the salon from the beginning when I called to make my appointment. The "receptionist" was surprisingly understanding of my indecisiveness and scheduled me in for their most lengthy style since I wasn't sure what I liked most. The only drawback was paying a $50 deposit upfront but it goes towards any hair service you choose. When arriving to the shop I was greeted by six happy, energetic employees and was given a questionnaire to complete on an iPad followed by a consultation with my stylist. Afterwards, I was given a light breakfast (croissant and fruit on a small plate drizzled with dark chocolate) with a drink. I was so impressed right off the bat because of their excellent customer service and the eclectic decor of the shop. The only downside to my hair service, which began rather promptly, was dealing with the hyperactiveness of my stylist who broke for a second to twerk to some music video. Honestly, it wasn't an issue because I couldn't imagine standing for four hours straight and I had two women braiding/twisting my hair the majority of the time. At first glance of my completed Urban Twists I was thinking "WTF, my hair looks like it was plaited by a six year old" but my stylist assured me that it would look cuter after I did a twist out (a week later since it takes that long for it to really set). She was definitely correct and I was so glad that she showed me how to create multiple styles in the meantime. I left with a really trendy updo with a few pieces left out as long side bangs. I'm still trying to justify paying $250 for Urban Twists that are merely semi-synthetic hair braided 2-3 inch long then twisted. At another salon, I had medium sized mid back length box braids installed for $50 less than the price of Urban Twists. But maybe you're paying for the d*** cool salon name. Eitherway, I'll leave it up to others to determine if it's worth the price. read more

I LOOOOVED my experience at The Damn Salon! I was beyond stoked to get my hair done by them. I'd first gained knowledge of the salon through the reality show, "Cutting It Up in the ATL." I loved the way Mushiya remained poised on the show and the fact that she owned an all-natural salon. While planning a visit to Atlanta from Louisiana, I knew I had to have my hair done there! I got the Urban Twists. The install was quick and painless. Really...there was no pulling, no uncomfortable bumps to develop in the kitchen, no scratchy synthetic feel of the hair on my face, and no regret from getting them - thinking, "now I have to wait weeks for them to loosen up and become malleable." They were instantly beautiful, soft, natural-looking, and comfortable. Styling options are plentiful, from funky to classic to corporate in less than 2 minutes! I'm so happy I made the decision to get "damned!" I've found my salon of choice, albeit 500 miles away; but definitely worth the trip! Also during my visit, I partook in wine and breakfast! I have been a customer for over 10 years and haven't had a bad experience yet. I used to be local but now that I live in the midwest, whenever I'm in town I make sure to get an appointment for the city twists or something similar. They never style my hair too tight, meaning my scalp is at ease. I never have breakage after. I've had several bad experiences at other salons from breakage, tension issues to just boring looks but NOT here. It's just fabulous. I always get versatile style that's lasts in my hair for a good while, and it looks great either up or down. Sophia did my hair this time around and she was great and professional. I was really excited about getting "damned." I had seen the pictures and they do some beautiful work so I just knew this was going to be good. Sadly, it was not. First, they booked me for an appointment for the next day so I thought I was set. Then someone calls me back and says that they didn't realize the reason there were no appointments for that day was because they were having their grand opening event in their new location so I would have to be rescheduled for about 10 days later. I contacted them back and said that would not work for me as I had a professional event to go to and I needed to look decent for it so I may have to go to another salon. Miraculously, they found an appointment for the day before my event. I got there on time and my stylist seemed really quiet and timid but then she immediately made me start doing a promo vid for the salon and spent 10 minutes trying to get it just right by having me walk towards her camera phone repeatedly. Whatever... I finally got in the chair and she worked on my head for about an hour before another client comes in. Apparently she had a consultation/appointment that day too, but -- either my stylist was supposed to service her also, or the person supposed to service her was not available. Either way -- I kid you not -- I sat in that chair for 90 minutes while she met with this woman who then was visibly upset and tried to leave. So once the stylist had continued working on my head, she stopped to comfort this woman. Then she asked me if I minded if she started on this client's head instead of finishing mine. I had nowhere to be, so I was patient and agreed. She obviously was really dedicated to this other client because she stayed on the phone talking to other stylists asking them to come take care of her instead of working on my head. I had been there since 9a. It was now 1p. A quarter of my head had been finished. Then the owner came in to work on this woman's hair who just kept talking about how she had set aside a specific time to get her hair done and could not reschedule. The owner wasn't apologetic at all. She just tried to cover it up by delivering syrupy sweet compliments. At best, she seemed fake. Meanwhile, my stylist comes back to me while two people are working on this woman who came after me. She got out before I did. I didn't leave until 6p. She had told me it would take no more than 4-5 hours. I was there 9. Then, when she was finished, it wasn't that cute, but I could live with it. She had me record the second part of the video because the owner (while I was in the chair) was scolding the stylists and telling them she wanted at least 8 different interactions with their Instagram page per day. My hair is very short in the back and I had told her it was fine if she couldn't catch it. That could have even saved me some hours. I will have you know that I will be walking down the street and a twist will fall out. I wake up and twists are in my bed. I run my fingers through my hair and a twist will come out in my hand. Yesterday my friend laughed so hard when she realized the entire back of my hair had no braids so I can never put the style up. I would probably have to be desperate to go back. Their work ethic just isn't what it should be. I gave this two stars only because she gave me a discount...of $25...on a total of $275. It wasn't worth it. read more

Don't walk...........RUN away from this salon!! As usual I try to give a business several attempts to correct errors before I write a low review and this one just could NOT make the mark. First....... They are VERY unorganized! No two people in their organization are on the same page. Also when it comes to the financial aspect of it, they have some shady business practices. They know they aren't delivering a quality product which is why they behave poorly. Also they no longer have an actual salon so they are working out of a barber shop. On one occasion I had an appointment to get a hair color. I thought this would be simple enough, however they didn't have a shampoo station in the barber shop. Therefore I had to forego my appointment and come back another day when they had a shampoo station installed. That's such poor business. I had to rearrange my whole schedule to compensate and wasn't given any formal apology or even a discount for the inconvenience. Alone..........That should have made me turn around and go running..... but I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt. But I couldn't wrap my brain around the question of "How does a company legitimately take appointments that need a shampoo station and know good and well they don't have one installed?!" And this appointment was on the books several days before I got there! How could you NOT have that prepared?! But I still wanted to give them a shot. Finally after I sat for my appointment for a simple hair color I was there for SIX HOURS!! The girl had to keep on going to the beauty supply store and because of the delay in time my hair color was messed up. And then she tried to keep fixing it. Finally I just told her I needed to leave and she put my hair in a bun. Then when it was all said and done I paid over $200!! But I left it alone and just sulked. What I didn't know at the time though was that my sister had created an appointment to get her hair colored a few days after me and disturbingly she encountered a similar experience! That alone should have made me run but I just kept on trying.....why I don't know. So I decided to purchase one of their wig units as a gift for my aunt and it was a NIGHTMARE! The item that I wanted was a display unit and as such I paid for the display unit ($416). Instead they created a custom unit and attempted to persuade me that this was a better option and shipped it to my aunt. When my aunt received it she was rightfully disappointed. The "CUSTOM" unit was poorly constructed! THEY EVEN LEFT THE "Vivica Fox" TAG ON IT!! When my aunt got the wig and FaceTimed me, it looked like a Bozo the Clown wig that weighed about 10 pounds. I had my aunt ship it to me and I took it back to the salon. When I got there, THEIR OWN STYLIST THOUGHT IT WAS TERRIBLE. It looked ridiculous and I couldn't see any person wanting to adorn themselves with this unit. And then when I just said forget it let's just cut ties and return it....... they fought tooth and nail stating that they don't give refunds. An experience which was meant to support a growing business while also getting something nice for my aunt to make her feel pretty, turned out to be a NIGHTMARE. If I could give ZERO stars I would. First and foremost all I can say is Wow! I love The Damn Salon! Sophia my hair stylist is so very friendly and made sure I was comfortable ! I was also greeted by the owner Mushiya very professional and friendly! I enjoyed the Ambiance of The Damn Salon because its inside of The Runway Suites which actually has 2 runways that you have to walk down or strut down to get to your destination! Can I just say I Love my Damn Hair! The color I chose is on point for my complexion! The Entire staff are very accommodating making sure all your concerns are addressed! Sophia teaches you how to maintain your hair also! When you call The Damn Salon it's just a great feeling they make you feel like a Queen over the phone and online. Kanko and Latosha have a special innate skills in order to pull this off! There are a lot of hair stylist that install hair braids twist! Everyone was extremely professional and made absolute certain that all my questions regarding hairstyle, color etc. were answered! Okay now let's get to the greatest thing...Mushyia and her team are freaking amazing! There were two stylist on my hair (Mushyia and Sophia) creating my City Twist. While getting my twist I was served food and beverages all while being complimented on my hair texture. This was not just an ordinary hair appointment it was an EXPERIENCE! Everything I've seen on Yelp and Facebook has been for the most part POSITIVE about this Salon.... Wish I could have experienced the supposedly GREAT SERVICE. Here's my experience: After doing about a week of research throughout the internet, I decided to make an appointment... needless to say, after 5 phone calls (no answer), voice mail left (no returned call) and email sent (no response), I was unable to have "THE DAMN SALON" experience. I was extremely skeptical about going here based on the reviews I read beforehand. However, I was very pleased with how Sophia did my hair and how management walked me through the process. The barber shop is nothing fancy (but temporary from what I'm told) . They have the very best hair I've ever had installed and you won't leave with your head hurting from the braids being too tight. I love Damn like I love my iPhone. They know they're too high. They know you'll try to bargain, but they're the only game in town and they know you're hooked. The work is awesome. I balked (and still balk!) at the prices, but you know what, I looked FAB in a national television spot. I get stopped on the street. I'm sexy and I know it. Ladies, don't get plastic surgery, get your hair done here! They don't lie- your husband won't be able to get enough of you. "Other bitches will hate you!" And also, you'll ALWAYS look FAB! The hair is soft and looks natural. The stylists can slay even the most tender-headedness when they work on you, AND they're smart and funny and wonderful! I wish I could knock off points for something, but I can't. They got me and there's nowhere else I can turn! If they offered a personal training package too- I'd be set for life in my sexiness. I went here for lock extensions back in feb. 2011 and the owner at the time was installing them had me come in for multiple sessions (total of 5) which took hours (each session was 3-5 hours for a corner of hair) due to her having issues with managing her personal time. The extensions were extremely spacey and come to find out the hair installed was not human. (after investing over $750 of course) ....made this discovery when trying to "bleach" the tips of the extensions and the hair reaction was nothing matter of fact the tips of the hair became extremely brittle and crusty. However, the ladies were very friendly (i would be too if i was charging $500 a head for half a$$ work) and did not mind keeping you around all day. Beware of these "DAMN" scammers, beware of your "DAMN" time, and stay away from this "DAMN" salon.....and yes 4 years later i still remember this "DAMN" experience. read more

I was told in writing to not ask for them, just call the number listed and a re would come down and meet me.A While waiting in the small apt(who rents it ?) I filled out the consult paper. Let me first say...the hair is the bomb and even though each of my experiences purchasing it has not been the best...I keep ordering it. Throughout my time of ordeting this hair, I have been charged express shipping but recieved my product almost a week later. I have ordered hair, it not be in stock and never been notified in a timely manner. And then had to go back and forth with them before I recieved my refund. Even now, I ordered the hair on 2/17/2020, was told by the customer service rep it would be shipped Wednesday and it still hasn't been shipped. I called today to check on the status, to be hung up on and yet to recieve a follow up call. I sent an email last night, to recieve a message that due to an over abundance of emails, my question can not be answered. Really? Again...if I could find another supplier that had the hair...I would NEVER order again from the Dam Salon again. But the hair does make me look fabulous;) All in all, great hair....terrible customer service! Oh and might I add as a consumer you have to pay mailing cost, but the product never comes in a timely manner....I order product from overseas and recieve it faster than I do from the Dam Salon and I'm only 4 hours away from the shop I hate even having to write this review....but how much more does a paying, loyal customer have to take inorder to recieve basic customer service?! My bff and I went to "The Damn Salon " yesterday... We really enjoyed The Damn Salon experience.. Everyone was so nice ,polite and personable. I got the Curly Ryder twist.. and I LOVE MY HAIR!!! My hair is fabulously beautiful!! Mushiya and Sophia installed my twist . Mushiya even cooked for us...It was delicious! Mushiya, Sophia, Courtney and Kanko make this salon a class act compared to the competition! I love these ladies...They all made our visit special..I have never been treated like "royalty "in a hair salon before yesterday...I could go on and on about this place!! Oh so I HAVE to leave a star in order to post? Fine Yelp, I'll follow the rules. And they will get ONE!! Now, I feel like Atl is sort of one of the major hair hubs so, I am baffled as to why I'm having such a hard time finding a stylist. Maybe my natural hair?? I don't know, but on a recommendation I went to The Damn Salon for that natural hair. And this DAMN SALON was not the move! I liked the sassiness of the website in addition to the pictures so, I booked a consultation. I found out from my referral that they were in the middle of transition, moving salons. This is information I had to bring up over the phone when I book my appointment because it was NOT mentioned to me and I didn't know where the new place was, turns out right next door thank goodness. No worries, if you're as good as they say, I'll roll with the punches with you! My consultation is booked at 9AM, I go in on time along with another woman Hunh? How are we BOTH getting a consultation, simultaneously with the same stylist?? How is this private? How will you know what I need? How will this work. Oh, let me tell you today, it DOES NOT! Not only does the stylist not have a real clue as to what we each need and want, but she knows NOTHING about the products, styles, prices! She kept asking another stylist who was in the middle of twisting someone's hair and she didn't know much more, but they both agreed they should wait until some guy comes to the salon at NOON! He knows the type of hair in stock, prices, everything apparently. How don't you know these basics working in a DAMN SALON?? I come in for some color to cover grey and a trim. My hair was totally virgin, just growing in from being bald about a year prior. I expressed I wanted to cover grey, wanted some suggestions and pricing. She brought out their trusty book which covers their signature styles, which I did NOT want. I just wanted my natural hair trimmed, colored and a protective style, but I looked through for some direction with the color. I ended up in the chair and sat there for 90 minutes with no action ( and my co-consultation BFF left with no hair done) Why? Oh, homegirl went to go buy my color at the beauty supply store across the street. Oh so you mean I too can go and get this box and do it myself? Next time! She comes back unapologetic and proceeds to take out a color cap. No ma'am! This thick DAMN hair ain't getting through no DAMN 1985 color cap hole today at the DAMN SALON! We canceled that, not only is that uncomfortable, but now I don't have time for you to play with color! I slotted 4 hours and you've wasted 2! At the end I got a wash, a clear cellophane, some (decently done) flat twists, a nervous tick from needing to rush to my next appointment and an a la carte bill for $145... Best hair experience yet. 8:00 appt started with a Mimosa, hair evaluation and recommendations for healthy hair along with addressing ALL of my concerns along with my stylist, Sophia listening and understanding what I wanted. There was continuous time checks to ensure time management. Stylist/Owner Mushiya is the multi-tasking Queen.. From styling another clients' hair, ensuring that my stylist was proficiently installing my Metro Twist and delegating duties for her assistant Aisha, so that each client felt special. The shocker, meals were prepared for all clients, those waiting and those of us currently being served; As I'm watching my carb intake I declined the pasta dish, so Mushiya disappears for a moment without a word and returns with the best sautéed asparagus dish topped with delicious crab meat. In addition, we were served white wine infused with grapes and a cucumber. .. Both my hair and my palate were served in style. I can't wait to see my hair become more healthy in the growth process while I look Great in the meantime... So happy I scheduled in advance for their return to DC in August. read more

Horrible! Stay Away! (Their Shop Is Even Closed/Doing Hair Out of a Barber Shop Chair) I have come to the conclusion that this salon is struggling and money hungry. They do not care about their customers. They are very dishonest people! Do not do business with them. I ended up with a 15.00 credit for services that I never used. I requested the money to be refunded back to me repeatedly. I had the same conversation with Kanko approximately 8 times over a 5 month period. Each time we spoke on the phone, she could never remember me or the details surrounding the 15.00 refund. It became obvious that she was faking. I emailed her and she would not respond. When I spoke to her on the phone, there was always an excuse. To say the least, the experience was more than annoying. I did finally get a 15.00 money order sent to me. I scheduled an appointment on January 12, 2017 for city twists. I arrived for my appointment and learned from Sylvia that they only had black and black/gray combination hair. Sylvia said that she only had bits and pieces of honey blond hair that she had cut to use for someone else's head. I was beyond livid considering that I had just driven from Morrow, Ga. to Roswell, Ga. and had to drive back in the same traffic without any services being performed. I had scheduled the appointment due to going on a cruise the next day. I could not believe that a so called "high end", reputable business would do something like this. Not to mention that Mushiya is part of a reality TV show and one would think that she would value her business reputation. Sylvia advised that I would have to reschedule. You can not imagine the anger that I was feeling. I called to speak to Kanko but a male answered the phone. I let him have it!!! Then to add insult to injury, the male told me that he did not understand why I was so upset because they had honey blond hair at the salon. I said, that I would turn my car around and go back to the shop to have my hair services completed since they had honey blond hair. Of course, the story changed. He then said that honey blonde was a special color and had to be ordered. I let him know that I was smarter than that. I told him that honey blonde was a standard color that they offered. Mushiya came on the line and rambled on and on about nothing. She offered me a wig to wear on my cruise, which of course I had to pay for. I advised her that I did not wear wigs. I told her that I could not believe that they had messed a customer around and had not offered any type of compensation for the inconvenience. She finally said that she would give me a 100.00 credit toward my services whenever I came back. I had to go on my cruise without having anything done to my hair. On January 12, 2017, the day that I was inconvenienced, the price quoted for my city twists in an email was 225.00. On February 28, 2017, I decided to make an appointment to have the city twists done. I reminded Kanko of the 225.00 price she had quoted me on January 12, 2017. This price would be minus the 100.00 credit given by Mushiya for the cruise inconvenience. Of course, here we go!!!! Kanko decides to play dumb again. I refreshed her memory by sending her the text message that was sent to me regarding the 100.00 credit. I asked if she needed me to send the email where she quoted the price of my city twist. Can you believe that this woman said I would have to pay 275.00 for my city twist minus the 100.00 credit, therefore, I would have to pay 175.00 instead of 125.00. I could not say that I was in disbelief because I should have known better than to deal with these people again. She went up on the price in order to eat up the credit. Nothing but CROOKS! Kanko had the nerve to say that I should be willing to pay 275.00 and thankful for the gracious 100.00 credit that was given to me. I called on God. He revealed to me the person that would do my hair the next day. She can do all the same styles and more. I am forever thankful for her services. The customer service agent was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable about the different styles. Sophia came highly recommended by my friend. Both stylist were welcoming and do great work. I have been a client of The Damn Salon for roughly 9 years now and since the very first time I witnessed the stage presence of Mushiya and team at a private event I have been hooked! The staff keeps me nothing less than intrigued, inspired and motivated! The personalized experience keeps me coming back time and time again and prevents me from allowing any other hair braiding/twisting salon in Atlanta to touch my coils! The quality of the work is great, and the styles are high-fashion. However, my issue is with the scheduling/timeliness. Each time I had an appointment, I was asked at the last minute to change to a different time. Then I still had to wait when I got there. Since there are "rules" about being late to your appointment, this should be a two-way street and the client's time should be respected as well. read more

High prices.... I had an appointment to get my hair done (city twists) "special" style and that special style never happened. Someone bought the services online for me as a gift and what was promised online was not what was offered when I got into the Salon; they wanted more money for the style I wanted when it was cleared over the phone what I wanted. I had my hair done by The Damn Salon when they came to Washington, D.C. for "A Taste of Damn D.C." earlier this month. It was my first time getting my hair done by them, but I was so excited b/c I had seen so many women with styles from them that looked PHENOMENAL! All the women were nice, they were very knowledgeable and explained everything to me, from the hair used to how to care for it, to the history of the salon, etc. The customer service is awesome, and my hair is ON POINT! The Damn Salon fails to deliver. They do deliver poor service, mediocre stylist, high prices, and a huge dose of HYPE. This salon is NOT upscale. Maybe if you're accustomed to getting your hair styled in a friends basement, then maybe you would consider this salon as upscale. The Dam Salon is not selling fashion forward hair styles. They're selling hype and charging exorbitant prices for mediocre "natural styles". They're great marketers, but poor at delivering the styles and UPSCALE services they're advertising. Offering your clients cheap wine does not make your establishment upscale. If you're looking for an awesome natural stylist, I recommend you keep looking. The "Urban Twist" I received unraveled after three weeks. My stylist also had too many appointments booked and rushed me out her chair. She was uncouth, and lacked basic communication skills. My experience was horrible. The Damn Salon is a much better option to the typical African braining salon; however as previously stated their branding is better than their braiding/twisting. read more

I've been a customer of The Damn Salon for over 5 years. Unfortunately their customer service, end product and professionalism has decreased substantially. They book appointments and take a deposit knowing full well they are under construction which is dangerous for their customers and extremely noisy. They told me the salon was finished it's not. They are also not properly prepared to do your hair and take an extremely long time to finish it. Also if you expect to have any peace and respect of your personal space forget about at this place!!!! I sure didn't! I didn't get the hairstyle I asked for which was a full micro city twist using the colors I normally used. The colors I used were out of stock even though they knew I had an appointment and never change my colors. My colors were added to my account years ago to prevent any issues when I arrive. The stylist continued to get pulled in many different directions by the owner all while she was suppose to be working on my hair. Mushiya had this young lady moving furniture. How do you stop a stylist from servicing a paid customer to help you move furniture? She continued to disrupt this young lady which delayed her finishing or even fully focusing on my hair. She was pulled away over 6 times. She also took a long lunch break. I was there from 9:45AM and left at 8:15ish PM. It has never taken this long. If you try to have a reasonable conversation with the owner forget about. She will place blame on you and give you a bunch of excuses.They are in my opinion overpriced and unprofessional and didn't deliver the end product! That's been my experience. Beware if you do business with them. I would give them zero stars if I could. I have pictures of what my hair looks like now vs the previous times they've done this style and it's certainly lacking in fullness and color. My friends and family noticed the difference when they saw me without me having to say a word. Smh! read more

I have to say I'm so so so disappointed with this Salon. Looks are deceiving. To start off, I made an appointment for City Twists. My first impression of the salon was great ! very upscale, the staff was very attentive, Im thinking great, I've finally found a salon and stylist I can stick with. So as I mentioned I wanted the City Twists....my stylist tells me the style I've chosen can onky be done with Metro Twists.....ok so they cost a bit more but I was ok with that....well my hair is very soft and baby fine in some places......bad move !! By the time I get ready to pay for my services , the total cost has gone from $ 325.00 to $425.00 !!!!! with the product they insisted I needed to maintain my style !! So now within 2 weeks, twists are slipping out all over the place, and the baby fine area in the front and top of my head is practically bald because of the heavyness of the twists the Stylist installed !!!!!! I had to go somewhere else to have my hair redone with a net....just like they use for weaves....to cover the now bald area that is the result of a salon who only cares about making money and not the care of a clients hair. Shame on you The Damn Salon...I also found out that their policy is to never let a client out of the salon without charging at least $350.00 So no matter what you go in for they will always find a way to make you spend more than what you initially think you will ! If I could give this place zero stars I would have. I went in for a consultation after looking at pictures. I asked specifically for the price before I returned. Needless to say I was quoted $225 but the day of service I was quoted $350. And there was a facebook special for $150 off that wasn't fully honored. I was told that it was a mistake. Needless to say, we proceeded with the city twists. I gave my stylist a picture of the style and questioned the progress. When it was done, the style did not match the picture. Wow! Shame on me. I complained but was told it would fall into the style. It never did. I called back the next week and was told to come in to have it repaired. I went back and all the stylist did was take down a few twist and retwisted them and I walked out with an updo. Still, no recourse, no satisfaction. I was told again that it fall into place. I am still waiting. I called back to complain and spoke with Ephanie who stated that I was just not satisfied. Ephinae also said that she would call me with some recourse. I am still waiting on that call. I paid $250 and felt like the twists could have been repaired. I chop it up to poor customer service and a bad stylist. I will never visit this DAMN SALON ever again. My mother became a fan of the show, Cutting It in the ATL. She was particularly excited about experiencing The Damn Salon. Because I am in my journey to natural hair and wanted some professional expert love for my TWA, I decided I too would try them out, especially since they market themselves as a "Natural" hair salon. My appointment was scheduled for 9am. I arrived but the salon had not even opened by 9. In fact a slew of stylist arrived seemingly at the same time, well after 9am. BUT ok..whatever stuff happens. the salon itself is very nice and it makes you feel like you are definitely coming for an experience...I was excited! I was excited when I was offered a mimosa. WOOT WOOT, now I am really ready. All the staff members were smiling and had good energy...BUT at one point I think they had a staff meeting, because the girls congregated in the back for a long time...so long in fact, I had to knock on the door because a customer had come in and had been standing at the front desk for quite a moment...but, again, no worries, what ever, stuff happens. Finally the young lady is ready to do my hair. THIS is where the first point of disappointment begins...because the salon markets themselves as a natural salon (they even state in writing we don't silk or any form of straightening) I expected to experience and to be educated about products that support this journey. The shampoo used was basic and was not sulfate free. when the girl prepared to do my twist. She brought out very basic gel. She used no type of oil what so ever, not even when she was undoing my twist! now every natural girl knows, oil is a must! and every youtube video tells you to twist out with oil on your finger tips right? I left the salon confused and disappointed. None the less I still made another appointment thinking I would just use another stylist the next time....but after discussing it with my moms...I decided not to go. BUT the salon was very gracious about transferring my deposit over to a purchase of their products. YES they have products?!! Why didn't the stylist use them on me? The gracious young lady on the phone explained...they simply didn't have them in stock. :0...it is for the young lady on the phone that I give them the 3 starts...otherwise I would have rated them a 2 read more
