So, I've been to the Dam pub a few times at it's previous location in Thornbury and it has since moved to Meaford now where they are nestled right downtown in a modest sized, but more upscale modern interior. Something that didn't change is that gorgeous wall of scotch they always had and friendly personable service that you're looking for at any great restaurant! We had reservations and from our experience, it is definitely recommended as there was only bar seating available from the time we got there till the time we left. When we arrived we were greeted promptly and taken to our seats where our server poured water for the table and took our drink orders right away... Typically when I would go to this pub I was addicted to the deep fried haggis... A small appetizer but packed full flavour and was a dish I could not break away from house - it was so delicious! Tonight was a different story though, I broke away from the usual and went with the full haggis meal and once again was not disappointed but delighted that I had! We started with the buffalo cauliflower for the table, My wife went with the Georgian Bay whitefish special and my son had the mussels as he had a hockey game right after so couldn't eat too heavy... we left full and happy and we will certainly be back! Thank you!! Zeke

The Dam Pub is a great Gastro Pub for brunch in Thornbury.

Although some of the plates going out to the tables around us did look pretty tasty. We shared a beer flight and there were some very interesting flavours that stood out to me. The Happy Circumstance Cream Soda Lager. HOLY. That might be one of my fave beers. Think of a cream soda that has just a lil bit of beer carbonation at the end of the sip. That's what this tasted like. It blew my mind. Didn't really taste like beer at all. If you blindfolded me and told me it was cream soda mixed w/ a hint of beer I would've believed you. Incredible drink. It stood out the most out of all of the ones we tried. So much so that I can't even remember what the other ones we ordered were.

Tried 2 of their craft beer: Borland Roe Ale - I enjoyed this. It is not overpowering. It even tasted good when it wasn't as cold. Also the City of Dreams Vienna beer - this was also good, but I preferred the Borland. Started off with a Charcouterie board. This was very good. The items on the board was a good variation to the usual cold cuts. It had 2 types of cheese, salami, sausage, warm fried bacon slabs, bread (could use more), pickled items and strawberries. It was yummy. We then had the beef dip, as recommended by the waiter. This was good. The meat on it's own could be seasoned a bit more though. The dip was just ok. Tasted like packaged. The Fries were done well. There was gravy - OK. Service was good. The server was very attentive. It was a very pleasant experience.

Our server,…read moreyoung guy with a mullet, was amazing, made sure we were all taken care of and dealt with a group with so much ease and professionalism. I ordered a peach/ginger drink and it was strong but really tasty, highly recommend! A few non-drinking ladies were given great recommendations for virgin cocktails! The food was also really good, most people got burgers which looked really good. I got the duck pizza which was really tasty but the crust could use work, it was a bit too crunchy and flat, I'm not sure what style I would call it but I prefer either a lightly crisp crust with a chewy bite or a fluffy crust, this was neither. I am a bit snobby when it comes to pizza so I'm definitely particular but the toppings were really unique and tasted yummy! Next time I'll go for a burger for sure. The service was excellent, I had made special arrangements to bring in a group of 16 people, and, being moms to young babies, some of us showed up later/earlier, some left earlier/later and we all had separate bills, so I know it wasn't the easiest to manage but our server honestly nailed it. We all had our drinks done perfectly, food came out all at the same time, nothing was missed, and he was soo genuine and friendly. We really had such a nice time! Thanks so much HBH for making our night out so fun!!

It was cooked to perfection, exactly the way I ordered it and served with a yummy gravy/sauce, mashed potatoes and grilled veggies. Led to an outdoor terrace at the top of the building, with a number of black wrought iron tables, like the outdoor canteen at a golf course. No table covering. No placemats. The cutlery roll up was placed directly on the metal tabletop. Did I say no table covering whatsoever? Every family with a child or teen was brought up to the terrace Hmm. The bill was still over $115. My liver, was possibly a good piece, but cooked to shoe leather texture. 16.95$, which is fine - but the server could ask the preferred cooking style. Pasta was delicious. Wings and ribs a little overcooked but yum. And, the vegetables were perfectly cooked No- We will not be back unless they invest in a roll of craft paper to tear off and make paper tablecloths Cutlery on the tabletop isn't my thing
