Great ice cream and creative makings. Banana Cree pie flurry and comes with twist flavors. Between Oconto and Minnesota route good stop!

Sweet little ice cream shop. A little pricey, but cone sizes are twice as big as you'd expect. The chili cheese fries are excellent.

Brain Freeze - Where Taste Buds Go to Party and Your Brain Yells, "WORTH IT!"…read more If I ever go missing, check Brain Freeze first. Deanna and her team are the real reason my GPS keeps rerouting me back there like it's a rescue mission for my soul (and sweet tooth). Walked in for "just one scoop." Left with a cone taller than my future and a smile so big I had to hold it with both hands. The ice cream? Creamy, dreamy, and possibly churned by angels. Prices? Let's just say I paid less for my sundae than I did for a bottle of water at the gas station. That's sorcery. Delicious, creamy sorcery. Deanna, the mastermind behind this frozen wonderland, is the kind of person who probably gives ice cream to her enemies just to win them over. Her helpers were so friendly and upbeat, I thought I'd wandered into a Disney movie--minus the musical number (although I did hum while eating). Bottom line: Brain Freeze is what would happen if Willy Wonka ditched the chocolate and focused on making the happiest ice cream shop on Earth. 10/10, will absolutely be back... once my taste buds forgive me for the cold snap. P.S. Try the cookie dough. You'll get misty-eyed. It's that good.

We wanted a quick snack while driving from the UP to Green Bay and came upon The Dairy Barn. As we…read moredrove in, we thought the place was inside of the nearby gas station, but we quickly found that it was a separate building with quite a number of cars and customers surrounding it. There was a nearby setup of picnic tables and all seats were taken, with people eating burgers, custard, and other treats. To order, there's a choice of either a drive through, or you can queue up at one of the windows in front. We just wanted a small snack and ordered two items. Service is quite quick; everything only took a couple of minutes to come out. Extra Small Pistachio Frozen Custard ($2) - This was the weekly special and we got the very last dregs in the frozen custard machine. We saw the employee using a spatula on the top of the machine to push through the rest of the custard. As such, we're not sure if the custard was the freshest and best churned or not. The sweetness of the custard, mint green in color, first comes through, followed by a bit of artificial pistachio flavoring. The strange thing is that we had pistachio frozen custard from another place the previous day and this tasted exactly the same. I wonder if everyone just uses the same commercial pistachio custard base and churns it differently? This particular one is quite smooth and creamy, but also a bit on the softer side and less dense than other frozen custard I've had. I can't complain when this is only $2 though. (4/5) Fried Cheese Curds ($4) - I read about the curds here on social media and I have to agree that these are quite good. The batter on the exterior is pretty thick and fried to a fantastic crisp. The interior is stretchy, milky, squeaky as they stick to the teeth and have a more firm chew. The exterior batter has quite a bit of salt added after it comes out of the fryer, making this a treat that almost begs for custard or some other sweet beverage/treat on the side. (4/5) I'm not sure there is anything that they actually make in house, but hey, the prices are so cheap and they execute everything well enough that it makes me not care. I wouldn't make The Dairy Barn a destination for food or anything, but it's a solid place to visit while you're on the road. Note that they change the special custard flavor every week starting on Wednesday until they run out, so if you insist on the special flavor don't wait until Tuesday! Bathrooms - One single unisex room located on the right side of the exterior of the building. Overall rating of the food this visit: 4/5

I've been to the Big Dipper dozens of times over the past several years (most recently last night!)…read more It serves its purpose, which to me seems to be ice cream/food spot in the middle of nowhere! I will say that the hot food is just ok. Ive had burgers, hot dogs, fries...none of which i'd say were memorable. The hot food always seems to take quite a while to make. On a 1-5 rating scale, I'd give the hot food a 2 1/2 score, at best. They have cedar crest ice cream by the scoop. Probably 10-15 flavors to choose from at any given time. This is a plus for me....love cedar crest! They also have soft serve ice cream. My kids always get flurries (the Big Dipper version of a DQ blizzard). I've also gotten a root beer float several times. All of these are big pluses for The Big Dipper. There is seating outside and inside, which is convenient. You can also order either from a window outside or from the counter inside. The employees are always friendly. Seems to always be alot of younger folks working, with one or two adults. Inside the establishment they used to have an arcade and a small store with fireworks and camping-type accessories. Now they got rid of the arcade and only sell small wooden signs with silly sayings on them. And...there are an obnoxiously excessive amount of these signs!! I'm sure the wooden signs have a huge profit margin when someone actually buys them, but in several years of frequenting this place, i've never seen anyone buy one. I wish they'd cut back on the wood signs and go back to selling the camp-style stuff. I like this place and I come here often. The ice cream is good and the food is ok. I'd recommend it to anyone spending time in the area.

The old fashioned ice cream counter would be fun to enjoy during warmer months, it was somewhat cold outside, so we settled on a few to-go treats instead. We purchased a couple different items including some chocolates, caramels and the sleeper pick of all the items - homemade hot cocoa mix. The mix is basically leftover chocolate shavings and makes for a delicious cup of hot chocolate. They also offer a ton of molded chocolates. Dinosaurs, flowers, race cars, animals, shapes, holiday items, etc. A variety of prices and sizes and in different chocolate types. The chocolate used in the shapes is a creamy, high quality one.
