a basket of fried fish and french fries
Emily K.

Stopped in for a twist cone. I was so happy they also served food. I ordered a traditional twist vanilla/chocolate cone, chicken tenders and onion rings. They came back and told me that they did not have onion rings so I got fries instead. I was not refunded the price difference between the sides which is why a lack of star here. Nice outdoor seating and the cone i got was huge. I would come back for the ice cream. Food nothing special to comment on. But... that twist cone I loved.

pistachio custard!

Get the custard but don't forget the cheese curds! Best in the area & super scenic location to sit & enjoy. Love this place!

Classic northern Wisconsin supper club experience. One in our party grew up in the area so we…read moreneeded to dine here. We got there shortly after they opened on a weekday and found some seats at the bar. Brandy old fashions for the group. Decent and a good price. A word on the decor. Not surprisingly for a place in northern Wisconsin it is full of taxidermied animal heads but in this case they appear to be big game from Africa - quite a collection. It made for an interesting ambiance. As is typical we ordered our dinner when the waitress found us at the bar. Two of us went with the perch fish fry which was very good. The twice baked potato was excellent. Another ordered the fried chicken special. The chicken was crispy and very moist. Nicely done. The fourth got the tenderloin tips which were perfectly done medium rare and quite tasty. I forgot to mention that the salad bar was a bit smaller than some supper clubs but they had the usual items including four different cheese spreads which were a favorite of our group. Too much food so no dessert drinks. The services was super friendly and helpful. If in the area do stop.

An awesome and outstanding supper club. Just off the water with a beautiful view. One of the more…read moreunique supper clubs that I have been in. Food outstanding and service was even better. And of course, the old-fashioned were running strong and smooth. This is a must if you're in this area. Once you're done, take a nice stroll across the street along the bank line of the lake which has stunning views.

I've been to the Big Dipper dozens of times over the past several years (most recently last night!)…read more It serves its purpose, which to me seems to be ice cream/food spot in the middle of nowhere! I will say that the hot food is just ok. Ive had burgers, hot dogs, fries...none of which i'd say were memorable. The hot food always seems to take quite a while to make. On a 1-5 rating scale, I'd give the hot food a 2 1/2 score, at best. They have cedar crest ice cream by the scoop. Probably 10-15 flavors to choose from at any given time. This is a plus for me....love cedar crest! They also have soft serve ice cream. My kids always get flurries (the Big Dipper version of a DQ blizzard). I've also gotten a root beer float several times. All of these are big pluses for The Big Dipper. There is seating outside and inside, which is convenient. You can also order either from a window outside or from the counter inside. The employees are always friendly. Seems to always be alot of younger folks working, with one or two adults. Inside the establishment they used to have an arcade and a small store with fireworks and camping-type accessories. Now they got rid of the arcade and only sell small wooden signs with silly sayings on them. And...there are an obnoxiously excessive amount of these signs!! I'm sure the wooden signs have a huge profit margin when someone actually buys them, but in several years of frequenting this place, i've never seen anyone buy one. I wish they'd cut back on the wood signs and go back to selling the camp-style stuff. I like this place and I come here often. The ice cream is good and the food is ok. I'd recommend it to anyone spending time in the area.
