PSA/spoiler: long-winded but wholesome ending My boyfriend…read moreand I have eaten here a handful of times previously, and we went in for brunch again yesterday. (side note: for context, we both have years of experience working in the food service industry & are very patient/understanding, sometimes at our own detriment, bc we know how unpredictable working in restaurants can be.) The restaurant was moderately busy, but there were a few open tables. Two ladies were already waiting to be seated at the hostess stand, and although the hostess was physically present, she didn't greet us when we walked in, nor was she talking to the 2 women waiting in front of us. I'm not sure if she was in her own world or having an off day but she didn't acknowledge us at all and avoided speaking to/making eye contact with all of us at the front door for 5-10 minutes. I wasn't sure if she'd already spoken to the ladies beforehand, and maybe that's why she didn't feel the need to say anything to my bf and i but it was insanely awkward, to say the least. However, after she wiped a table down and we were seated, not a big deal by any means. Our waitress got our drinks, took our order, and brought our food out very quickly. Both my bf and I ordered the crab benedict biscuit - his came out perfectly and was delicious! The only issue with mine was that the egg yolk looked like it'd come from a boiled egg and had the consistency of a piece of sidewalk chalk. As someone who usually orders eggs sunny side up or over-easy, my bf and I both knew I was either going to waste the entire meal or have to ask for a new egg (and I hate asking for things bc I feel like it's an inconvenience). We eventually settled on asking for a new egg bc I hadn't eaten anything all day and was pretty hungry. I started looking around the restaurant to see if I could see our waitress. I saw her but she didn't see me and I didn't want to bug her. It was actually the owner/GM Danielle who saw me scanning the restaurant and came over almost immediately asking if I needed something. I explained the minor problem and apologized for being a pain and when I say she couldn't have been more kind, helpful, and absolutely hilarious, I mean it from the bottom of my heart! Danielle ended up getting me a crab benedict biscuit to-go (we had plans & were on a time crunch), talked to the kitchen to see what happened since both mine and my bf's were made together, chatted with us for a bit, and comped our bill. I continued to apologize, thank her for her help, and told her it really wasn't necessary to comp anything bc it wasn't a big deal at all and she'd resolved the issue but she insisted. Needless to say, we will 1000% be going back thanks to Danielle! Loved getting to talk with and meet a genuinely kind-hearted person/new(er) small business owner in Chapin. You rock Danielle For anyone who made it to the end of this dissertation and has the pleasure of meeting/seeing Danielle at Bakon, do yourself a favor and ask her to do an impression of a piece of floppy bacon. You won't regret it

For a slightly more elevated atmosphere, try the bar or back terrace. I had a friend note that they run out of specials early; this is because the food is fresh and, when it's this good, there are rarely leftovers. Good cocktails and amazing desserts. Best dinner in town.

We we recently had a delightful seafood dinner at Catch 22. After arriving without reservations,…read morewe were greeted warmly and shown to a comfortable booth. It was a Friday evening and the restaurant was quite full. Three of us ordered a fancy margarita--I believe it was coconut flavored. I ordered a glass of Riesling. It was surprisingly on the dry side, which I didn't mind at all. My wife didn't care for her margarita, and thus just confirmed once again that she does care for tequila-based drinks. For our entrées, D, his wife and I had seafood platters; his was deep fried, and mine was broiled. He got two seafood selections and I got three--oysters, shrimp and scallops. She went with a fried oyster platter. My broiled seafood was simply seasoned with Old Bay, but it worked for me. The oysters were sweet and lightly broiled. The shrimp was flavorful, as well as the scallops. While I didn't taste any deep fried seafood, the batter looked crunchy and lightly breaded. My wife had the she-crab soup, with a side of sherry, and she loved it. It was creamy, and was served with a dollop of crab on top. She also had a spinach salad with almonds and strawberries-- topped with baked salmon. The sides for our platters included sweet and white potato fries, and cole slaw. I was impressed with the price of my platter, how it was prepared, and the flavor. We opted for a unique desert--a gelato bomb. It consists of a ball of ice cream wrapped in chocolate cake. Very good. Our server was very pleasant and accommodating . I think her name was Chelsea. She is a fine server. Hats off to Catch 22. Keep up the good work.

Not sure about the music selection, as we dove right into scanning the menu and enjoying the options. We had the Japanese fried chicken (3.5/6) and the Prosciutto Wrapped Fontina (6/6) would definitely order again as it was delicious. We selected the butchers board (6/6) with asparagus & bacon mac and cheese for our sides - medium rare of course. The spread was delicious. We had a mule and a blueberry spritz to accompany the meal. As the sun set, the locations lights seemed to dim as well, ramping up the intimate feel. Server checked in multiple times (her name is Victoria Batte). Ordered crème brûlée for dessert and left stuffed.

We started with the deviled eggs which seemed like they didn't even try to add flavor. Only one person in the group ordered steak which was not cooked to the order, and was completely unevenly prepared. Two people in the group ordered the burger which were ordered as medium and came overly well done. The prices are the only high end items on the menu. I have no problem paying for a decent meal, however the Chophouse of Chapin needs to address the food quality. I would advise to go elsewhere for your dinner plans.
