I know what my hair is capable of looking and feeling like after styling from skilled stylists back home in Baltimore. But unfortunately again and again in Atlanta I would sit in someone's chair who would needlessly over blow dry my 4A natural hair into submission or make multiple passes with the flat iron, leaving my hair cute for that day but hella parched, straw like, hard to manage texture a few days later. But then I found Kim! I found Kim the way you should find a good stylist...by admiring her work in the streets. I asked a young lady who did her hair because it looked so healthy shiny full and nicely curled, and she shared that she just found Kim and you gotta go give her a try! After making an appointment online, went to the salon and loved the decor and the friendliness of the staff and that big beautiful smile from Kim! I'm not gonna lie that day I visited the salon my hair looked...well to be perfectly blunt...TRIFLIN ( now mind you I had just been to a hair salon 2 weeks prior who fried the hell out of my hair!). She sat me down calmed my fears, told me "Don't Worry! We Got You, We'll Take care of you!" And indeed she did! She did a pre-consultation 1st to know what my home care regimen was and made suggestions to get the best out of my hair at home, but first would have to rehabilitate my strands for a few visits with hydration treatments. I had my hair washed/conditioned/hydrated...Blow dried...and my blow session was soo relaxing it was almost therapeutic...there was no flinching and crouching down from the flames of the blow dryer, just enough to do the job without harm! And no 100 passes with the flat iron either! Start to finish I was in and out just about 2 hours! Ya'll I left out of hair with juicy bouncy curls! BUT the best part...my hair stay hydrated for nearly 10 days without needing to put any product in it whatsoever! I mean no need for hair spray, hair gloss, NOTHING to me that was the true test! I just left my 2nd visit and my hair is already responding so so well, I am so confidant in her skills that I feel like I finally say a wooosaaaah and trust that someone will get my hair to my desired length and thickness! I had an appointment for a retie and a hair style with Belinda on June 7th. Belinda's work was sloppy and inconsistent which I didn't realize until I got home and started running my fingers through my hair. To be fair, there were areas throughout my hair that felt 'ok', unfortunately, the majority of my locs had a loose interlocking pattern where she attempted to retie my hair; while there were also sections where locs were completely untouched. I let her know immediately, and she told me I could return the next day. But first she had me send a video and we were able to speak. I sent a video showing me squeezing the loose locking pattern that was in my crown area. Because she told me that she wasn't exactly sure how she could make (any of) it better, we both thought that shampooing my hair would be the determining factor to confirm if I would actually need to return or not. One shampoo (3 days after the appt) confirmed that I would, and when I returned for a do-over, she only scheduled enough time to correct the back of my hair leaving my crown and perimeter completely un-touched. My hair is thin and my density is low. I'm at the stage where my locs are now heavier than the hair is growing out of my scalp. So when when I text her a video of the hanging locs (on my crown and perimeter) that she never addressed during the do-over, I could not BELIEVE that she never responded. It is a HORRIBLE place to find yourself in especially when you have hair that resides in a constant state of vulnerability. It's disgusting to have a hair stylist leave your hair worse off than it was when you walked in, rush you out of their chair twice and then vanish when they know they did not complete the service that you paid for. I will never understand how a "master cosmetologist" can stand over your head and ignore the new growth, unstable locs and the mess that they've have created, and then have the nerve to ghost you. I spent $280 for half a retie with Belinda and then paid an additional $180 to have the other half done. That's $460 and my hair still isn't back to normal. One star is too generous.
