I recently have had to search for another stylist and per normal, came straight to Yelp to see what's up. Kena has great reviews and someone mentioned her prices being reasonable. That's a huge bonus because these salons, natural hair salons especially, are taxing. I went in for a consultation on a Friday night and got an appointment for the following Monday. Kena wasn't working that day, but she made that appointment especially for me. During the consultation, she told me what she observed and what she'd like to do for my hair going forward. It was really a time for us to set expectations and learn about one another. My appointment was awesome and my hair is back on the path to it's healthy glory. It doesn't get better than that! to have a master stylist as your primary stylist! Hair: The moment her fingers touch your hair, you know you are in the hands of a professional. Ladies, you know within seconds if the person doing your hair knows what to do with it and it is clear that she does. I received a relaxer, conditioner and cut. my hair went from being an untamed wild forest to a trim, symmetric clean work of art. Besides the many compliments I have received, within myself I felt an new confidence that came with my fresh cut. My hair was shiny, had bounce and felt amazing. Ambiance: She is located in a private suite so what does this mean? it means that it is as if you have your own private stylist- there is no traffic in and out of the space. its peaceful, clean, and warm. Pricing: I have been across the country getting my hair done by owners of shops in Chicago, DC, master stylists in Brooklyn and used to paying $100+ for a relaxer and style.
