Don't get me wrong. This is our favorite pizza in Charlotte but $22 for a 14in cheese pizza is insane. A year ago that same pizza was $15. A $7 increase in one year is ridiculous. Then you get popped for $2.50 a topping. Our bill tonight with tip was $70 for a family of three. A 14in 3 topping pizza, a small cheese pizza, side of creamy parm dressing, and 3 fountain drinks. That is crazy money for what you're actually getting. This is the only encounter I have had to what is close to what I know to be a tavern style pizza. I am from Chicago and this is our pizza style (not deep dish). Situated next to the PGA Superstore in Ballyntine. A visit to the store to repair an unfortunately broken 3 metal, I had to check out the place. The staff greeted me warmly and I ordered up a pie, waiting at the bar with a cold brew. Out came the pie with pepperoni cupped and plentiful. What struck me first was the crust. I guess this is why it's in the name. The rest of the elements, sauce and cheese, totally worked together. This is their pie, which they call Midwestern or Ohio style. Alls I know is I won't use broken golf clubs as an excuse to drive 30 miles from Rock Hill (not know for great pizza joints or any type of food, for that matter, except maybe Garden Cafe in York) to get pizza from The Crust Pizza. It's really good. So good that I will be lobbying for a location to be established in Rock Hill or Fort Mill or someplace damn closer! SPECIAL NOTE: A lot of the local pizza places around these parts use cut up sausage links for their sausage (puke emoji). I would strongly encourage y'all to switch to blended pork sausage in bulk (heck, Publix makes a respectable Italian sausage). After all, pizza is an Italian thing. I really great casual pizza place. I went for lunch and ordered a pizza and salad. The portion sizes are really great. If you are thinking about ordering double toppings. don't do it, you don't need to LOL. I normally order double pepperoni but when we got our pizza my husband and I looked at each other and was like maybe we didn't need double. The restaurant was clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. They were not busy during my visit, but I'm sure even in busier times they would do just the same. I recently stopped by The Crust for a solo lunch. There is plenty of parking in the Promenade and dedicated spaces for takeout. There is a large bar with TVs, along with booth and table seating in the remainder of the restaurant. The bar predominantly has local beer from Sycamore, NODA, OMB, and Legion. They also have wine in the bottle and on tap. The staff was pleasant and attentive. The bartenders Rico and Acey were chatty and regularly checked in to see if everything was good. The bar also has purse/coat hooks and electrical plugs underneath the counter which will be a big plus during football season when people spend hours in a restaurant. They have pizza, subs, salads and dessert. Everything is moderately priced ranging from $10 to $20. They have off the menu pizzas which are similar to pizzas of the day. My bartender didn't know what they were when I asked, but quickly came back to let me know that there were 2: a BLT and a Spicy pizza that featured the hot honey sauce. But I stuck to my old faithfuls. I ordered: - House Salad: It was fresh and large. Definitely shareable. I substituted the vinaigrette for the creamy Parmesan dressing. The salad came out with fully dressed and a side of Parmesan dressing. They quickly remade it, but I was charged $0.50 for the dressing even though it replaced the vinaigrette. That would have been nice to know in advance. - Pizza: Pepperoni with basil is my favorite. So that's what I ordered with a side of red sauce. The side of marinara was ice cold. I'm still not sure if you need to ordered it heated, but it may be worth the extra detail to avoid having to send it back if you want it hot. This location of the Crust is new and it is obvious that they are still working out small kinks, but overall I had good food and service during my first visit. I enjoyed the music, comfortable seating, and the temperature was ambient. I am sure the few minor missteps are due to their newness. Whenever I had a concern, it was quickly rectified. I'll be coming back to try the hot honey drizzled on my pizza. Come on out and try this neighborhood pizza joint for yourself. read more

This place was recommended to me from a friend, but after visiting it with my family I found that the service was not good. The server brought us our pizza with two of the toppings wrong, so I asked to speak to the manager (I think he said his name was Micheal) he was very unhelpful and unwilling to replace the messed up pizza, after a way too long conversation he finally decided to give me my money back and replace the pizza. The part that really bothered me was after he offered to fix the order, he walked not even 10 feet away from our table before cussing us out to one of the servers loudly, which I found extremely disrespectful. The food overall was decent but I would not recommend coming to this location, if there are other locations or if you can get takeout the food might be worth giving a try, but the customer service is the reason I will never dine in again. read more

Phone didn't eat first, but I just had to leave a review after Samantha (manager?) visited our table with the box pictured in this post. We were halfway through dinner (chopped wedge salad & Palermo pizza) when Samantha came by and asked how our meal was - my husband & I said "amazing" at the same time, because it truly was! Then she said she wasn't totally pleased with how our initial pie came out, so she brought us a whole other Palermo pizza for us to take home. We were absolutely blown away by this gesture! I am so happy that The Crust decided to open a location in south Charlotte. My wife and I had been anticipating the opening of The Crust for MONTHS since we live near the new location. We had planned to go for literal months but they took a while to open. Thankfully, we finally got to go for the first time after they opened in May! This location has a ton of seating, both inside and two different spots outside. We sat outside under an umbrella and enjoyed the evening. There are the pizzas they have on the menu and there are rotating specialties they have. We ordered one pepperoni and one custom pizza with sausage, onions, banana peppers, and spinach. Both were DELICIOUS. Also, their hot honey you can get for $.50? ALSO DELICIOUS. The beer and wine they had on the drink menu were very reasonable prices and I think we got out of there for $50 including tip with two drinks, two 10" pizzas, one shared meatball, and a couple sides of hot honey. My family loves this place since they have a gluten free and vegan cheese option. We usually get a gf vegan cheese and a regular meat pizza. also usually get a large salad for the table as well more than enough for 3 people. The pizza is tasty and it's cut into manageable pieces. Not sure they want repeat customers or customers in general. They were not able to accommodate over 4 people outside because moving the tables would ruin the floor, they were not able to put half toppings on any pizzas even personalized pizza. As far as service, the sun was shining so bright so I moved my chair and the manager (not sure because she never introduced herself) told me I was a fire hazard and needed to move our ENTIRE TABLE WITH FOOD to a new table. I asked if they had a shade to put down for the sun but no. She proceeded to verbally challenge me and I ended up telling her I just want to eat pizza with may family facing out of the sun and to please leave our table. She went back to the kitchen and positioned herself staring in my direction. It was very uncomfortable for our whole family. As we were leaving a large party in the bar area had formed and were standing in front of two exit doors but apparently my chair at the end of our table was a hazard.
