While we were visiting last weekend, we had breakfast at The Crossroads Diner. The food was delicious and the price was extremely reasonable for the amount of food we received. Our server and the host were super friendly and took good care of us. It was not super busy, so it was quieter in the restaurant. We did also go here for a drink on Friday night. Our large group ranged in age from 2-78 so we did take-out. We heard that the pizza was good so we decided to forego our pizza of choice and give the Diner a try. The pizza was good but the pizza shop down the block is exceptional so it was a difficult competition! We had cheese pizza, carnivore pizza, white tomato basil pizza, and chicken bacon ranch pizza. The best of the bunch was the meat and the tomato basil. The side salad I ordered was a bunch of limp lettuce and not worth the $4. However the wings were delicious with a smoky flavor. Food is always good. Portions are nice sized. We always need to get a to go box and the deserts are amazing. The coconut cream pie is my husbands favorite but mine is the Heath bar pie. I definitely recommend saving room for desert or order one to go because you do not want to pass up the pie here. The servers are also very nice and helpful. We really enjoy eating here. read more

This place has really gone down hill. The servers congregate at the counter in the club car and don't pay attention to the fact that customers are sitting right there and have loud conversations about other diners. Our server didn't bring the drink refill that we asked for it didn't even dawn on him that he forgot. The food was just meh, not horrible but not really good. Good atmosphere, very attentive server who checked on us often. The soft drinks were kept filled, and tasted good. I ordered the chicken and waffles. The menu said it was a Belgium waffle, instead my chicken tenders came on four square waffles that tasted like no Belgium waffle I'd ever had elsewhere. I did not like the waffles but those chicken tenders doused with maple syrup were fantastic. Our friend George got the same. He liked it more than I did. My wife got the plain Mac and cheese, which I tasted, and we both thought it was good. I bet it would be better with the pulled pork in it. Our friend Alicia got the supposedly homemade meatloaf but hated it, complaining about the taste and saying there was no way it was homemade, which the server insisted it was homemade. I tried it after she said she couldn't eat it, and thought it tasted like an average meatloaf. Not bad, but not great. I was the only one at the table with a menu that showed higher prices for the sides. Unfortunately my menu was the correct one, though it didn't matter as none of us ordered sides. I'd give this place another chance so I could try other things, but I know what I wouldn't get again. Oh, and seeing a cash discount on the bill (aka a credit card surcharge) was weird. My partner & I visited this place for lunch. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip & a buffalo chicken ranch pizza. The dip took a while to come out. It actually came out a minute before our food which was kinda disappointing. I immediately noticed the amount of dip was extremely small compared to how many chips we were given. The chips were also stale. The pizza was mediocre. I've had frozen pizza that tasted better. We might of visited this place on the wrong day! Anyways, this was my experience here. We typically do not go to Crossroads because the service hasn't been good. We decided to try them again tonight since it is small business Saturday. They were not busy. We waited for 15 minutes before the server even greeted us. We gave him our drinks and food ordered which included an appetizer. He had two tables. He never brought our drinks. I went to the bar and got them. He brought our salads before the appetizer. Then another server brought our meals out. The kitchen door was open so the customers could see the servers standing around and our dinners sitting there. Our server never checked on us until we were done and we had to stop him. I ordered the grilled salmon. It was over cooked and had no flavor. The BBQ ribs were good. Edinboro needs a nice restaurant and Crossroads could be that restaurant. We didn't see a manager on duty. I used to be a server and restaurant manager and you need someone there to give direction or help a server who is struggling! It was a very frustrating date night! The Crossroads seems to be a nice little place to grab a bite to eat in Edinboro. It was certainly a great place for my friends and I to eat on our way to a wintertime streetcar museum event - not only because the food was good, but because part of The Crossroads is built out of the body of an old streetcar. Yes, really! That sort of thing happened more often than you'd think. Geeky hobbies aside, The Crossroads did not disappoint...for the most part. The service admittedly could have been faster. When my group arrived the place was pretty empty, yet we waited a decent length of time to be seated, to get drinks, and to have our orders taken. Once the orders got to the kitchen, however, things moved along just fine. All of us ordered juicy burgers piled high with various ingredients - depending on what we ordered of course - and all of us enjoyed a heaping serving of fries on the side. In fact I distinctly remember posting a picture to Instagram with the caption, "Never eating again bye" because I was so full with delicious goodness! We all left satisfied and ready to finish our road-trip. Based on my group's experience, I'd totally consider eating here again. That said, between the other reviews and the slow start to my own meal, I'd probably skip it if the place had a decent number of fellow diners seated. Better safe than sorry, right? read more

Wafflles we're obviously frozen, rubbery, and so cold the cold butter didn't melt on them; syrup also served cold. The hash browns we're over fried and way too salty; sausage links looked cooked but were cold in the middle (obviously taken from the cooler and warmed up) . The scrambled eggs were ok. Service was less than great. The server never checked on us after delivering the cold food. We had to look for her. She did graciously warm my waffles up but there was no saving them. The ambiance was unremarkable. We we're seated in the middle dining area. It was chilly enough i kept my coat on. On our way out I stopped at the Ladies room but changed my mind when the door didn't lock. If you want hot food and good service, go dow the block to Perkins. read more

6-18-23 - My step sister set up a breakfast here for Fathers day. I had the meat and cheese omelette and added mushrooms. It was cooked nicely and didn't have too much cheese. I opted for the hash browns which were not fried and they had a gluten free toast option. The dinor has changed hands several times over the years and the food has been up and down. The new owners have added BBQ and fresh dough pizzas to the menu. The breakfast is a great reasonably priced option. If you don't go for breakfast give the BBQ or the fresh dough pizza a try. read more

Several decades ago, I first visited the always busy, cramped and charming Edinboro Dinor. Among its many charms, was the pass through from a rear lean-to through a window to the grill and front counter. The potato peeler brought to mind a WWII Sad Sack on KP. The several potato dishes, in all their fresh glory were wonderful. I couldn't resist the turtle soup. During the years i've been away, the original diner with its tacked on lean-tos has been expanded several times (and is very likely up to code). Friends tell me that the dinor has had boom and bust cycles, the most recent incarnation having recently reopened. The new comfortable and spacious dinor has been been thoughtfully designed. The full bar is a welcome, though a jarring addition having been thoroughly trained to expect coffee and soft drinks only. My order was simple, a cheese omelette, delicious, and coffee, better than the standard java of years ago. I wish the Dinor all the best. read more

Went for dinner on 4th July weekend. Got the poutine for an appetizer; the fries were good but it just had way too much gravy and cheese curd. It was like drinking gravy with fries. For the main course, I got the California chicken, which was average with a side of fries and sautéed garlic button mushrooms. The mushrooms were terrible and soggy. They didn't have any taste to them. Also got one of their alcoholic slushy's and it didn't have any flavor, it just tasted like ice. I would say the best thing was probably the beer and the fries. Maybe next time I'll go back I'll probably get one of the burgers, not the chicken sandwich. The waitresses were overall quick and friendly, but the food needs improvement. From the outside it looks like a little diner with an outdated menu and boring atmosphere. Once you walk in, you're refreshed with a new interior, decent space between the tables, and clean booths. It's much bigger on the inside than it looks. When it comes to the menu they have a good selection ranging from comfort food to steaks and gourmet pasta with shrimp and scallops. I tried the Pesto Chicken, a little disappointing with only about a tablespoon of pesto served with a whole chicken breast, two slices of not so fresh mozzarella that's half melted. The worst part was the baked potato that wasn't even warm enough to melt the butter. My wife had the Seafood Alfredo, it was a huge portion at least a 1lb of cavatappi pasta, 3 shrimp and 3 scallops. I took a small sampling minus the shrimp. The scallops were bland and slightly undercooked. The sauce, if you could find any, tasted like an insult to Italy. Extremely bland and horrible consistency. I'm not sure I'd trust the bar either, they advertise a $4 Blue Moon Draft 22oz on Fridays. Lone behold it comes out in a 16oz pint glass. read more

Service and food were better than last time. Party of four, and all of us were starting to get hangry, and we hoped the speed would be better than my last experience here, and it was. The food, while not fast, was nowhere near the 45 minutes that it took me last time I was here, just to get a burger. This time, about 25 minutes was all it took for 2 mac and cheeses, fish dinner, and a margarita flatbread pizza. I don't think this place will last long. Better get there quick! we really want this to be a good place to eat and have a beer. my wife and I have been there several times each time there's a problem with the food the service is terrible. Last week my mother-in-law was given a free meal because after a 30 minute wait she got a hamburger that was too black to eat. She did not order a well-done burger no one asked how she wanted it cooked. Chili is total salt you can't taste anything else the salad was brown. Stopped in for happy hour. I was one of two people at the bar the bartender completely ignored me I had to have someone get her attention to get a beer she was busy stocking the bar and writing notes no wonder there were only two people at happy hour. I have been in a few times. The hostess is always friendly, and I am always quick to be seated. The food tastes great, and comes out in a timely manner. I had the same server the last two times I went. They were very unpleasant. (I would like to think it was just a bad day, but it happened twice in a row). I plan to still come back despite the bad experience. I understand many places are short staffed, and it can be overwhelming for the employees. read more

We got take out tonight. Food was topnotch,. Mac and cheese with pulled pork exceeded my expectations. The portions were huge- I ate too much of it and should have stopped myself. I'l have an excellent lunch or dinner tomorrow with the 1/2 that is left. The pork was very moist & tender. The sauce is one of my favorites. Went for brunch during Edinboro Homecoming weekend. The restaurant is nice looking inside - clean and roomy. They serve their coffee in different coffee cups per customer - to me this is so cute. I think it adds a lot of personality to the place. Our waitress may have been new because she seemed a little frazzled with our party of 8. There was only a few parties in the restaurant so it wasn't because it was busy. A huge recommendation I have for this place - offer almond milk! They're located in a college town so it's hard for me to believe they don't have others that would want almond milk or another non-dairy option in their coffee. I ordered the veggie omelet. The waitress came out with our large tray of food, and I noticed she was using her chin to balance the food. I am not exaggerating when I say that her nose was 2 inches from the plate of food below her. I'd never seen anything like it - and was a little put off. Then, when she put the food on the tray stand... she used her bare hands to move the toast around on the different plates. I've also never seen this. I live in NY - so you're only supposed to be touching food with gloves on. I received my meal and there was a fleck of corned beef on my omelet - another turn off. You may wonder why I'm giving this place 3 stars and not less - it's because my omelet was spectacular. The home fries were dry though. I most likely will be back for next Homecoming - however some more training for the waiting staff may be needed. read more

We were hoping to get a good fish platter here. This diner came up on the Yelp feed for fish. We ordered local perch from Lake Erie and Cod platters. Sides of french fries and Mac and cheese. All was inedible. Cod was grey, slimy, raw inside. Worst ever. Gag. Loss of appetite til the next morning. Mac and cheese was grainy gravy with no melted or visible cheese. Fries were greasy sticks. I told server that boyfriend did not like it, and that it wasn't fully cooked. It was obvious from the full, uneaten platters. The food looked nothing like the photos posted on Yelp. She billed us for both platters, and I had to ask her to remove the charge. She offered no apology, and had no training in how to handle such a situation. I didn't eat the perch either, which also was terrible. We got stuck with $30 tab, for a non-meal. Beware. They were not friendly, there was no greeting when we walked in, the place was empty.
