Brought my family and the food was good, appreciate their beer selection. But...not sure what to call this, FRAUD or THEFT comes to mind. Paid my approx $67 bill with credit and rounded up to $80 with tip. A few days later I look at my credit card statement charge is $90. I know they inflated the tip bc the precharge coming in on my account was $67. Yes, I keep a close eye on my account. I called the following week to inquire and spoke to a Frank who said he was very sorry and would look into it. Then I heard nothing. Would love to give them the benefit of the doubt and they miss typed a number in. Fair warning to anyone going here. Pay with cash or keep a close eye on your credit card statement. Being an avid soccer fan I should have been here long ago, finally made my way here for the 2024 Euro and can't wait to get back. It's fairly small with 7-8 tables and a dozen or so bar stools inside, but they have an outdoor seating area as well as a table out front. This table is the one without a TV in site. There were 7-8 inside, and 3-4 in the outdoor area. Every seats got a view making it a great place to catch a game. We sat at the bar and the other patrons were all friendly, as well as the staff. The bartenders were well versed in soccer, and many of the patrons were tuned into the game too, but some just came for drinks and food. They have a nice selection of beers handy and the menu had a surprising number of good options. I finally went with the burger and am so glad I did! It was absolutely gorgeous and cooked a perfect medium. My first bite and I knew it was a fresh patty. I asked if they made them in house but they actually get them from Wells, a Philly staple for good meats. Came with an ample portion of shoestring fries which were hot and crisp. Went for the first time this week and was pleasantly surprised, the bar felt very English in decor and vibe. We were immediately seated by our nice waitress and looked over the menu, which I have uploaded pics as the ones on here are a little old. We had the pretzel and wings to start which were good, the fish and chips and the cu-Ben which were better than I expected them to be, and finished the meal off with their only desert offering, warmed donut holes with ice cream, which were pretty solid. The menu at the Crossbar periodically updates, and there are a couple of winners here. The shrimp po'boy is really a treat. Ample shrimp lightly coated in a cornmeal batter. Lettuce tomato and pickles with a solid remoulade sauce of mustard and mayo with a Cajun spice. The bread here makes the dish. Philly roll, seeded, holds up to the ingredients. I was starving. So my attitude was already off. As soon as I walked up I saw four kids sitting at what looked like the only two tables they had. I finally took the bait from the menu which looked amazing and headed inside to be welcomed by a warm atmosphere with medium seating, and a host / also my server who greeted and seated me. She did a damn good job making sure I was taken care of They have About six high tops. Two in the front and about five in the back. I sat in the back. Which slowly pulled me away from my grumpy mood while being surrounded by laughter and smiles. My food came fast, perfectly done. I had the Brussels sprouts French onion soup and cross bar burger. All well timed so I had a moment to digest the deliciousness But!! Dude that burger was huge!! It reminded me of the movie good burger. I was not prepared. We came here with some friends to watch Liverpool game. The inside is small so it's hard to accommodate a lot of people so some of us had to stand. Service was great. Our food and drink orders came out fast and correct. My husband enjoyed the Bloody Mary. Hummus: fresh and not runny. Served with pita bread and grilled zucchini and carrots. Highly recommended. Cheesesteak spring rolls were delicious too, not too greasy and had a nice crunch . Salad: my mixed green salad was served with goat cheese and candied walnuts with beets. Been here many more times since my last review as it's become a go to spot. Food is great, the fries are other worldly and worth the trip, and the beer menu is solid. And I like that new things get rotated onto the menu on a regular basis. Eg lamb nan (so good). The only caveat for folks who haven't been here is that the inside is small with only a few tables and most of the seating is outside in their covered patio. Will keep coming back read more

Mixed opinions. There was only room for us outside and it was absolutely freezing cold. We, and another table resorted to stacking spare chairs against the plastic tarp wall to keep it from blowing up in the air and letting all the cold air in. Waitress took our appetizer and entree order then sent all the food out at the same time. Two girls tag teamed waiting on us yet neither knew what the other one was doing on the rare occasion either stopped by to check on us. Nobody ever checked if we needed another drink, water, nothing, until we were ready to leave. Could have sold some drinks if they cared to stop by. But the food was really good. So service needs a lot of help and that outdoor situation is frigid. Maybe the inside customers get better service and surely better temperatures. read more

I was very impressed with the Crossbar burger. The bun is light and chewy. The meat blend is salty, fatty, beefy, and charred in stellar execution. The fries were thin and crispy. They were evenly cooked. And despite their thinness, they were not overcooked. We also tried some chicken fingers. While not the best I've ever had, they were quite good. They were made with good quality meat. They maintained a crisp, salty, and oily exterior without going overboard on the batter. The sauce could have been elevated. It tasted like a standard "Ken's" restaurant grade honey mustard. Since I only live a few blocks away, I'll certainly be enjoying the offerings of Crossbar again. I'm glad to have it nearby. This was our first time here. Service and food is outstanding. It is very pricey, in my opinion. My bf had a special risotto & short rib dish for $30 and I had fish & chips. But you get what you pay for, right? I did not give it a 5 star for a few reasons...parking is very rough. It is basically non-existent. The poor neighbors. Thankfully we went early and found a street spot around the corner. The other part is the limited inside seating. In the main bar, there are maybe 5 or 6 tables. It is definitely a small pub feel. If you cannot sit inside, there is plenty of space in the warm enclosed outside area. But you are disconnected from the atmosphere of the bar. I want to like this place but I really wanted to be inside and part of the main crowd vs outside. Perhaps we need to visit again. The food is fantastic! read more

I have been to the Crossbar a number of times, and the service and food were typically ok, not great but ok. After tonight I will likely never go there again. We arrived, were seated and waited 20 minutes for someone to ask us our drink order. Then we ordered food. The fries had enough salt on them to kill a horse. That was the consensus of all the people that were there with me...all eight of them. I had ordered the fish and chips. The dish arrived with half the plate being a pool, a freaking pool of tartar sauce, over salted fries, and a thin piece of over cooked fish that was burnt on the edges. All for $18 and it was terrible. It was clear the tartar sauce was meant to take up space on the plate rather than filling it with actual food. Who does that? We were seated in an outside tent that was unheated in October. We had planned to watch the game, but no one was warm. So off we went to the Manoa Tavern for warmth and service so much better than the Crossbar. The food and service at Manoa is also FAR BETTER than the Crossbar. There is no comparison. On another matter the bar at Crissbar is the stickiest, nastiest bar I have ever encountered, and I say that as someone who has bartended. It is a running joke for a lot of people in Havertown. I cannot in good conscience recommend the Crossbar. It truly was one of the worst meals I have ever had anywhere, and the service was just as terrible. read more

There is a new bar/pub in town and as a passionate supporter of all things Havertown my first impressions are mostly positive with a few cautions thrown in. When you walk in the door most folks will be impressed. We're talking dark wood, ceiling fans, and a beautiful exposed brick wall. This is a tiny place. The bar seats about a dozen. Regarding tables; I spotted two four-tops by the window and four high- tops along the bar. That's it. I understand that there is an upstairs but it's not ready for prime time at the moment. So I sat at the bar and perused the beer list and the menu. They have twelve taps posted on a blackboard. They included Flying Dog and Allagash White. The menu is one page and there are no surprises. Most of the sandwiches are $8.00 or a little more. The standard appetizers are available. I ordered pot stickers for $7.00. Six of the little devils arrived nicely plated. They were accompanied by a spicy chili dipping sauce which is a good thing because the pot stickers themselves, while pretty, were flavorless. It's time to look into a new supplier for them. On this Saturday night I arrived just after 5:00 pm. I was one of six at the bar. After an hour the place was just about packed. To me, one key to a great bar experience is the staff. A super bartender is an expert at interacting with people. My guy didn't make the grade. There was no effort to interact with me. He never asked if my food was OK. I watched him with the other patrons and noticed the same lack of engagement. As these folks are new, I'll give him a pass this time but this need to be fixed. As I prepared to leave I checked out my bill. The prices are in line with the competition. That's a good thing because Peabody's, Oakmont and Lamplighter are within sight. It's great to have a new business in town. I plan on stopping back and hopefully watching them mature into a big success in our little town. read more

Crossbar is a welcomed addition to the bar scene in Ardmore. They have a dart board, but don't plan on using it as the place is usually too full to have access to it. They show all kinds of sports there, including pay per view events, but be prepared to pay a fairly high cover at the door. The food here is good but I wouldn't say its anything to write home about. The burgers are usually what I get, but the specials can also be a good option. The food prices are a little high but the atmosphere is good and the orders come out quickly. The best thing about this place is their beer selection. They do a good job of moving beers around to keep a good selection available. The prices are on the high side of reasonable most of the time but their specials can be a good deal. Haven't had dessert here so I can't speak to that. Parking is a pain in the butt as you need to find street parking which is limited near by. read more

I have been to this restaurant many times and not once have we had a positive experience. Nearly every time the tables are not set when we sit down and we have to ask for basic silverware and napkins when our food arrives. A few times we've had them basically thrown at us and others we've had to get up and get them ourselves. The food is nothing spectacular; the only good thing on the menu is the French fries. Our most recent visit involved one of the members of our party not being told what they had been ordered was no longer available until after the rest of the group had been served. I hesitate to write this because The Crossbar is one of my covid happy places and I'd like to keep it that way. But they deserve credit for the terrific job they've been able to do under what we all know are daunting circumstances for restaurants these days. The food remains delicious and well prepared, the burger and wings are top notch. Also, really good fries, which are hard to find! In their covid pivot, The Crossbar never lost their Havertown charm--they're always happy to see us, make us comfortable, bring us a strong drink as quickly as possible, and cook up a handmade burger patty for my dog (Arthur gives it four paws up, btw). This is not a place you come to for tuna tartare, this is a spot where the owner's kids are dining at a table with their mom and everyone feels at home. It's a spot with clean, comfortable, well-spaced tables under a tent and now, while they're renovating their kitchen, the addition of some seriously scrumptious Mexican fare. Vida BYOB has driven their food truck over and added some of their items, including their short rib nachos--which you should order immediately upon arrival. Overall, The Crossbar is good people, good food, and good energy. If that's not your thing, take it walking and leave more room for the rest of us. But if you could use a little more happy in more than just an hour, The Crossbar is the place to visit. read more

When we arrived we were the first people in the building for a low key Sunday morning But the bar soon filled with regulars as sporting events started to come on their many televisions. Despite the incoming crowd the bartender was hands on with his drink and food recommendations. We arrived after a tap takeover from Pizzaboy and were treated to some of their finest, but on the regular you'll find a solid selection from the likes of Ommegang, Dogfish Head, Founders, and more. Food options range from a reasonable $7-13. my dining companions where satisfied with the their crab cake sandwich; and Crossbar burger with caramelized onions, swiss cheese, and applewood smoked bacon. But I had to do it classic with the fish & chips, and enjoyed their beer battered haddock dusted with old bay. With a well rounded list of specials and a solid rotating draft lift, you have a good spot to go for watching a game. read more

My friend that lived nearby suggested this place as a stop to get some good wings and he brought us here. The weather wasn't cooperating that much so the bar was pretty empty and we sat down right away-both ordered the wings and a beer (their selection is respectable, with a lot of different styles/breweries, but nothing crazy) and then sat back. We each had a dozen and when they came out there was...I don't want to say disappointment, but they were small, just so darn small. My friend leaned over and said, "I don't remember them being this small." They were pretty good though, and while they were small I did get pretty full of them and washing it down with a Terrapin beer made it all the easier. I ended up ordering one more before hitting the road (a beer, not wings) and got the Karnival Kolsch. Now, our bartender wasn't the friendliest guy-it was definitely slow so he was doing a lot of sidework, and talking to regulars-or just lonely guys who come to make chit chat at a bar, so he left us alone. I've been here twice now, both visits on Monday nights, and The Crossbar is the perfect spot for a casual round of drinks. There were open seats at the bar but the tables were full, I'd say there are only about 6 tables. Bartenders were friendly and approached right away with a beer list and menu. Their beers are not your normal selection but they do have a few standards if you aren't feeling adventurous. The menu is small with your average bar food options, but it seems that they do everything well, which I prefer over a huge menu where everything is just average. The Sixers were playing on both Monday nights I was there and it seemed like a good place to watch sports with tv's right over the bar and a few scattered in the back. Compared to a few other places I've been in the area, The Crossbar is at the top of my list. I'll definitely be back if I'm in the mood for a burger or a few beers. read more

Great wings, great burgers, great beer selection. Those three are enough to hook me! I was lukewarm on the Crossbar when it first opened, the food was ho hum, the beer selection was just okay. I stayed away for a year or two. However, about a year or so ago a friend brought me back in on the promise of better food and a solid beer selection, so I went back. The burger was excellent. I was still a little skeptical. So, I went again, the burger was excellent again. I went again, great roast beef sandwich (and a great 1/2 of crab cake sandwich that my wife couldn't finish). I went again, phenomenal wings. I went again, phenomenal wings again. Each time I went in the Crossbar for the last 2 years the food has been solid. The drinks, the beer list improves each time I go. They pour a "proper Guinness". And, 1) they have a wine list and 2) it is actually good. This place is worth going to, it is worth bringing your friends/family to and I will keep going there. read more

We came for lunch at around 12:30. It was loud because game was on, but that didn't bother me.The menu is really sparse. If you don't want a burger or other heavy fried food you're out of luck. Caesar salad was globbed with dressing and overpriced, no soup, or lighter fare. Too many fries served with burgers -- would rather have a pickle or other small veggie or less fries. The burger is good though -- so the fries were just too much. That's just me though. read more

Pretty ok beer selection, but does there need to be 7 big ole flat screen TVs in such a tiny place? The exposed brick wall is nice and funky but unfortunately it's the only place you can look without being inundated by all sports all the time. I like that it's walkable from my house, the bartenders are nice, the bar itself is cool, but c'mon, turn off a television (or 5) and make it cozy. Cozy little pub in Havertown. The food is typical pub fare (burgers, fries, roast beef, etc). The menu is pretty limited, but that isn't always a bad thing. I thought the food was solid. I had a hot roast beef that was definitely above average. Fries were very good also. The best part about the Crossbar is the décor: exposed brick, dark wood and a nice big bar (with a good beer selection too). I have only been there for lunch, so can't speak to a Friday/Saturday night or Happy Hour crowd. They typically have sports on the multiple flat screens: hockey, baseball and quite often, soccer. Although I don't really follow soccer, there appeared to be a pretty important game on one Sunday (British teams). Several people were there just for that and were heartily cheering along. I don't know why, but I think that's kind of cool. Adds to the atmosphere I guess. Cool spot for a beer. read more

This place is insanely loud. We stopped in once on a Saturday night after dinner at Brick and Brew, but we lasted hardly any time at all. Some places just have an especially irritating din, and this is one of those.
