So my first time in Canada and several co workers insisted I had to try this restaurant. Boy were they right! The minute I walked in I was pleasantly greeted and had the recommended dish "Smokey Poutine" which consisted of French fries, gravy, pulled pork, cheese, and two ribs on the side . Truly an Amazing dish!!! Everything was fresh and uniquely seasoned. Truly a great place. Not a fancy place but a really cool place with music vinyl decor and picnic tables. We were in St.Jacobs and came across The Crazy Canuck. The staff were great! Very good customer service, which you don't see too much anymore. I had the poutine, which was excellent. Love this place from the funky decor to the great staff and AMAZING food at a great value. Their daily specials board always offer up some interesting choices to mix up things a little from my regular choices - veggie pizza (add bacon), Canuck burger, classic poutine, grilled portabello burger. I have been to the Crazy Canuck on two separate occasions, about 1.5 years apart. I have never been more impressed by a place where I've gone to get food. The atmosphere is very inviting, laid back, doesn't seem to have set rules you just go where you want and the employees will help you. Speaking of the employees they seriously have the best. I've seen two different full sets of staff and the customer service didn't waiver one bit between the two. My first time there they explained all about how they work and their menu, really brought the experience to life. Second time around I knew the routine but wanted to play around with it a little bit so I talked up the guys and they helped me tinker with what ended up being the most beautiful and most delicious burger I have ever eaten (I eat quite a few) I don't even know where else to start on the food. You can go in asking for something tame, quiet and simple and they bring you that along with the damn kitchen sink it's absolutely wonderful. To be short, if you like amazing, wonderful, perfect food prepared to meet your every desire, come to this place. You won't be disappointed, if you are hit me up and I'll personally go fix it for you. Without a doubt best place I have ever eaten, and I'll definitely be back many more times! read more

We had a bacon burger with fries and some kind of poutine that was covered in all sorts of meat - it was all really good and you get so much food! Burger was one of the best I've ever had, definitely coming back in the future. There's an antique store connected to the restaurant so when you are done eating you can go browse the store, if you want. Also for those that might not know, you place your order at the counter and then take a seat. They will bring you your food when it's ready. There is no waiter/waitress that will constantly ask how your food is (thank God), so you can enjoy your meal in peace. read more

The Crazy Canuck is in a really interesting location, beside the Waterloo Antiques market. The menu is surprisingly large for a place so small; it covers everything from fish and chips, pulled pork, pizza, burgers, wraps and salads. Service is friendly,but can be very slow, the surroundings are reasonably clean; it's a great place to eat in summer when you can sit outside and enjoy a cold drink at a picnic table. But to be very honest, I haven't been overly impressed with their food. Everything is properly made, but after 4 times eating there, I haven't been "wowed" by any dish. So far I've tried out a daily special wrap, fish and chips (2x), and a burger. In each case, the thought has passed through my mind that I've eaten the same thing at another restaurant for cheaper and/or better. The food there is decent and well made, just not extraordinary. You won't get a bad dish, but you won't get anything fantastic either. Because of the unique decor (it practically oozes 'hipster vibe"), it's a fun place to stop in once in a while. read more

The new hidden gem in Waterloo! Amazing food at reasonable prices. I tried the pulled pork sandwich and was impressed with the unique flavour...the pork was smoked well, the sauce tasty with pieces of salty crispy bacon topped with great coleslaw on a great bun. Home cut fries with more pulled pork, cheese curds and gravey made up smoked meat poutine. I shared a beaver tail for dessert, you have to try it, hard to describe, yummy! All the food that came out of the kitchen looked great. I will return to try a few more dishes, if I can resist ordering the pulled pork again. The chef/owners were very interactive with the customers and checked in with each table and also offered up suggestions for my next visit - I was promised that the baked hot dog was a life changer, sounds like a challenge I may have to take. I was impressed with the sincerity offered by the one owner as he thanked us for coming in and hoped that we would return again. The staff is very friendly and offers a lot of helpful recommendations. They have a very easy and accessible menu. My sister and I had plenty of vegetarian options available to us, and the meat dishes looked great too. We ordered a chicken sandwich for a friend to take out, and found out that it came with a bacon topping and this wasn't listed in the menu. Be sure to ask them what extra ingredients come with your meal. read more

We were in Kitchener for my son's soccer game and decided to grab something to eat. We looked for local restaurants and saw "The Crazy Canuck". My son and I ordered the Crazy Canuck Burger while my wife and daughter ordered the Taco Pizza. The Taco Pizza was a true "Deep Dish" style with lots of toppings and very tasty. The burgers were great. 2 6oz patties with bacon, onions, pickles, tomato, cheese and I believe Jalepeno mayo. Such a good burger. Very juicy and extremely flavourful. Did I mention it's huge! If you're hungry and you love burgers and you're at the St. Jacobs farmers market...you simply have to go and enjoy a "Crazy Canuck" burger. You won't regret it. Nice fries too. read more

Everything a small casual restaurant should be. Inexpensive, unpretentious, great food, and unbelievably cool. Wacky location slightly out of town but worth the drive for a taste of excellent service and wicked pulled pork and slaw sandwich. read more

I was so incredibly disappointed in our first visit there yesterday Aug 23, 2014. I ordered the Phillycheese with Mac&Cheese and Baked beans for $12......what I got was the sandwich and macaroni salad. The phillycheese was tasty and hot but the menu on the board stated Mac & Cheese.....NOT macaroni salad....when I asked about my baked beans I was told he had burnt them so he didn't think I would want them and as an after thought asked if he could bring me a replacement which I said no to because it had already taken so long to get our food and there were screaming kids soooo......No thanks....I didn't get offered money back at all to compensate either. At that point I hadn't tried the macaroni and didn't really realize it was mac salad until after the server/cook left saying he would be back in a few minutes to see how everything was (he never came back). Once I realized I was given salad with ginormous chunks of peppers and tomato (who does that?) I figured I would wait to ask about it when he returned but that didn't happen so I went in to ask about it and the cashier wouldn't acknowledge me between customers. So basically I had a Phillycheese sandwich for $12 because I didn't eat the salad. My boyfriend got the crazy canuck burger with poutine which he said was ok but all in all the $35 I spent there was not worth it in the least. This place has the most amazing ontarian poutine I have ever tasted, as well as rivalling some Montréal poutineries. The fries were made perfectly and had an amazing seasoning, the gravy was rich with incredible flavour, and the ratio of fries to gravy to cheese is perfection. I cannot recommend this place enough. I would eat here every day. read more
