I made two trips to the iconic Cow's End with the first being large Hot Chocolate and Blueberry cake and the second was later that afternoon for a Venice smoothie and as always, everything was great. Recently renovated a with a great new exterior, TCE has plenty of outdoor seating and an extensive lunch menu, treats for dogs, juices, coffee, tea and a great assortment of doughnuts and pastries. I have been coming here for 30 years and TCE is the standard for great customer service and excellent choices no matter what your pleasure! When in Venice as a tourist or regular local, this is the gold standard for all your coffee, tea, juice or smoothie selections! Great sandwiches as you pick from the menu or build one yourself! Great açaí. Terrible salad. Looking for a healthy bite for lunch close to Venice Beach. This place has a huge variety of options - too many for an order at the register spot. Hubby asked the cashier what they do well. "Sandwiches! And smoothies, Açaí bowls." He did not say salad. But I ordered one anyway. I'll listen next time! They have lots of coffee and baked goods options too. The atmosphere is perfectly beach chill. Upstairs seating with windows (I didn't visit that area), and outdoor patio. They could use someone cleaning between tables but other than that, it was a pleasant spot to people watch and chat. Only downside to the big patio area is it's a Covid era build, so it's right next to traffic. When a big truck parks at the light, you're eating next to its exhaust. But that didn't happen often and it was a Saturday. So if you like the sun as much as I do, choose this section. Also - don't come here for eco friendly or insta worthy pics of the food. It's all served in to go containers. I don't eat açaí often. Rarely. But when I do, I'm always pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoy it. So when I tasted hubby's, I was taken aback at how much more I enjoyed it than any other I've had. I don't know what it is. The açaí itself tasted like the deepest dark cherry, it had a flavor and texture that was lovely! Generous portions of lightly sweetened coconut shreds and crunchy granola - maybe that's why it was so good? They didn't hold back on these at all! And the banana was fresh, tasty. If you order this you will not be disappointed! The Kale salad, though? Not great. They just chopped up some kale and threw it in there without softening it with oil, or rubbing it or whatever other Kale salad makers do so that one can actually chew the kale. So salt, so seasoning on it whatsoever. The other ingredients were the same. The olives were clearly just some basic sliced olives from a cheap can. Not the kind required for a salad. The grape tomatoes and side of dressing were the only elements that I enjoyed. It domes with some butterless toasted bread (like - toasted til it's tears came out dry and crunchy) and a side of decent hummus. The hummus was good, but I didn't want to eat it with the dry bread. Lucky for me I wasn't really hungry. My take is this is a great option if you stick to what the cashier says they do well. I vouch 100% for the açaí bowi! Also side note, it's not eco friendly and you won't get insta worthy pics of the food. It's all served in to-go containers. read more

Came and ordered the coconut crème latte and the espresso shake. The service was prompt and if you wanted to stay they have some patio seating options. The shake, I threw away after 3 sips. The coffee grinds being in the drink create a weird texture. It doesn't have any distinct taste except coffee grounds. I simply couldn't recommend anyone get that. The coconut drink was very sweet so for those who prefer more bitter or semi sweet it may not be your best choice, however flavor for this drink were good. I can't speak on the food so while I wouldn't plan to go back for drinks, their food could be a redeeming quality. read more

'No shoes, no shirt' is not applicable to this Venice local morning haunt. Acai bowls, sandwiches, bagels, pastries, coffee, matcha. They offer anything you could want pre-2pm. I like the vibe in here, I think there's a quieter study spot upstairs, but tables outside and some limited bar seating inside. I particularly like the open windows. The line and food service moved fairly quickly. The pastries were just ok, hence the 4 stars. I've had better, lighter, moister croissants and scones. The iced strawberry matcha was a bit too syrup-y, but nonetheless delicious. This spot is very reasonably priced by California standards and on a great street to walk around. read more

Came here one Sunday on the earlier side for breakfast. A small, cramped ordering area with any bottled/canned drinks in the back. The guy at the counter taking orders came off a bit gruff at first, but quickly softened and recommended the avocado/egg-white toast. Seating's non-managed, so I just grabbed a table (alas, I had a family at the table behind me with a screaming toddler yelling in my ear the whole time, ugh). After a while I went back inside to see if they had my order ready, which they did. Food was good, but not that memorable (for breakfast you won't soon forget, I highly recommend Eggslut up the road!). We stopped here for brunch while renting bikes, and it was the perfect little spot to take a break. The area is super cute, though very busy, so expect some crowds. I got the Venice smoothie--it was good, but nothing mind-blowing. My date, on the other hand, got a bagel sandwich, and wow it was amazing! The bagel was huge, fluffy, and just perfect. Definitely had some food envy! Overall, a great brunch stop, especially if you're in the area and looking for something casual but tasty. A very local spot. I've walked by a handful of times and there's always a handful of people enjoying breakfast. I decided to give it a try. I ordered an iced strawberry matcha latte with almond milk. There was only one size, and it was HUGE. The total came to just under $9. All of the orders are taken at the counter, and hand written on a piece of paper. Theres a few reasons why I mention this and am giving 2 stars: 1. They made my drink with oat milk. I asked if it was someone else's drink since I ordered mine with almond milk. They started screaming across the cafe at me saying I was wrong and I ordered oat milk. It could have been my mistake, but also they should have confirmed my order if I'm not able to see what they ring up on a screen. It made me feel extremely uncomfortable how they were talking to me, so I ended up just taking the drink walking away since they refused to make another. 2. The drink was SO sweet! I noticed them making it with strawberry syrup. I was expecting to have strawberry jam or at least flavored with real strawberry's, especially for the price. I'd be open to trying again, but man -- that was a tough experience just for a morning drink. read more

Great selection of loose leaf tea that I find to be much more enjoyable (and better priced) than chain coffee companies. The service is personable as well as accommodating. Let me start by saying: The Cow's End is a Venice must-go. It boasts a wealth of tasty breakfast and lunch options (smoothies, coffee, sandwiches, acai bowls and the like); usually i get the nutella acai bowl (i'm a sucker for some whipped cream and nutella) and it is usually quite filling and always delicious. Recently, I opted for their tuna sandwich and I'm not sure if I'll ever be going back to the acai bowls after trying this. Fresh, flavorful, light yet filling. I also jumped out of my comfort zone and opted for their Banana Banger and my god was it delicious!! The smoothie was also quite light and tasted just like banana bread. To add, service is always very quick, the staff is always very sweet, and there's plenty of seating (upstairs, at the bar looking outside, or outside on the patio and in front of the building). The Cow's End is consistently bustling and rightfully so. This neighborhood coffee/dining spot is great for all us Venice Locals. I usually swing by for their morning loose leaf green teas. Which they have an impressive variety of. Makes my partially Asian heart so happy. Also, if it a lunch time thing. I've had a good amount of their vege wraps and love them just as much as their teas. Healthy and light, they are perfect for summer. Without the high carbs and calorie count. God knows it's almost bikini season soon. Us ladies maintain, what we gotta maintain. And cow's end is literally like 56 steps to the sand and beach. Ok, so I made that exact number up lol. But ya know what I mean. It straddles the border btn Venice Beach and Marina Del Rey. So it's still got the Venice chill vibes but parking is less hectic and there's less homelessness. I never stay and dine in at Cow's end, I always do take-out or grab my tea and go. Great customer service, surprisingly quiet + spacious upstairs seating, but their food was just "meh". I ordered a spicy pollo pesto wrap and a strawberry lemonade freeze. Their price to portion ratio is pretty affordable and reasonable compared to other touristy space. The food came with a side salad, which was pretty nice, but the wrap itself was pretty basic. Reminds me of the grab-n-go wraps, even though I saw them making it. The smoothie itself was...okay as well. It was slightly too watery for my own personal preference. They have a very spacious and cute sitting area upstairs though. There were only a few people upstairs (working on their laptop) when I went. They don't post the wifi on their wall, so you'll probably have to ask the staffs or other customers for it. It seems like a perfect place for non-confidential virtual meetings (with earphones) since they don't play music in the background. read more

Great little cafe situated right by the beach! I found this cafe when I was looking for another place to study/do hw at. Parking is a bit hectic because of the location but eventually you'll find something lol. I ordered an iced white chocolate matcha latte. I had high hopes for it but it just wasn't all that great. It tasted very bland and not really much like matcha or white chocolate)-: maybe next time I'll try a different drink. The interior however is the biggest plus because there are so many places to sit. AND there's no music blasting like other cafes so that's good for concentrating!! The upstairs is my favorite because it's a little secluded. The bathroom is kinda problematic though because there's only one and everyone has to wait in line/-: Despite those issues I still love this cafe for schoolwork and want to go back! read more

I've worked nearby for over 10 years, and have had the occasional coffee or bagel sandwich with no issues. Today a colleague ordered lunch for us and I selected a crunchy Thai tuna salad. Got the (very light) box to my office, opened it and no tuna to be found! Also no olive oil. While I can give a pass for forgetting the olive oil, a tuna salad with no tuna is a different story. I got a copy of my colleague's receipt and walked over in the rain with my tuna-less salad. They were apologetic & made me a new salad with the olive oil & tuna though I did notice that the second salad had about half the bacon of the first one. While I appreciated their apology & willingness to make me another salad, I'm not so sure about returning. Anyway, the salad was pretty good but would have been better if I didn't have to go out in the rain to get it right. read more
