Convenient location with plenty of dining space. We arrived on a Friday evening and were seated right away, although we were seated outside. I appreciated that they had large platform games for families to enjoy, but unfortunately, the noise became distracting. Whenever the Connect 4 game ended, the pieces would come crashing down, creating loud noises that took away from the overall dining experience. We were given complimentary bread, but it was cold, and the butter was so frozen that none of us felt inclined to eat it. The food itself was mediocre overall. They do offer a $28 prime rib special on Fridays, which, to our family's surprise, was actually better than expected. I probably wouldn't return unless it was simply for convenience. One thing worth noting, though, is that they sell beer, wine, and seltzers inside the restaurant, so if you're in the area and need to pick up some drinks, that's an added convenience. read more

Drove over from Philly for few days and wanted a quick relaxing night. Looked very cool, we wanted to purchase a pack of beer but also to stay for a beer as well since this place was recommended to us for all the beers on draft it has. BUT....while paying for our beer pack, the guy at the bar was so standoffish, rude, made sure to let us know that he couldn't care less that we were there. He entered our card manually and mistyped the expiration date. Threw the card to my husband and walked away saying something under his breath. We didn't even know what happened until my husband got a message from his bank saying that recent transaction was declined because expiration date did not match. The guy took his time to come back, my husband said hey you entered the wrong date, but the guy ignored. My husband gave another card, we paid and left as soon as possible. We were seated promptly and that was the best thing about the evening - despite many waitstaff on the outside deck we couldn't even flag someone down to find our server - 25 min in and we were ready to leave (and should have) as we watched the 10 person party next to us (and seated AFTER US) get their drinks - salads and appetizers while we still were waiting for water. Then 2 of our 3 orders were not served well over 1.5 hrs in. The waitress was terrible and clearly was not well trained - she never even asked how we wanted our prime rib prepared. Apparently our order was LOST in their system and that was the reason it took almost two hours to get our meal. CLEARLY our waitress did not seem bothered by this minor detail as we told our son to eat his meal so it did not get cold. The manager comped our meal - which was very nice but needless to say we will not be back....just warning others off - after reading reviews on Yelp while we were waiting for our food we should have passed on this place - their online menu was not even current which was the least of the ridiculousness we experienced......better off with take pizza instead if you want to eat before 9:30 pm!! read more

The bar was busy and a chef was coming towards me and I asked him if we could have dinner and he said yes he would get somebody The first night mom and I ordered fish and chips. Got takeout from here. An entree, a salad, a meat pizza and a spaghetti dinner. I'd say all the food was just ok. Nothing special. I think the pizza was the most disappointing. It seemed to have so few toppings and only in the middle of the pizza. There menu is fairly extensive. I can't say what they specialize in... or what might be the best food on offer. Everything was great! I saw plenty of negative reviews for this place, so I was a little apprehensive . Perhaps they have improved, but we arrived on a holiday, we were seated within a few minutes, the service and timing were great and all the food was very good. The bathrooms are clean and the ambiance of the place is really cool both inside and out. The bar area makes me want to come back to see a band play here, it has the most original and week thought out design! I have to give the cooks the benefit of the doubt, maybe at one point our wings and burgers weren't dry, overcooked, and tasteless, it must've been the hour and a half we waited for our food that made our meal inedible. Not to mention the Shirley temples made from swamp water to wash them down. As we entered as a party of ten despite having a reservation, the hostess rolled her eyes and was incredibly rude. The entire restaurant had a fishy smell that reminded me of my toilet bowl at home. The only glimmer of light in the establishment was the lovely server Miley who was very kind and attentive. He clearly was unaware of Federal ADA and the requirements of restaurants to honor service animals. The manager needs to get educated on the federal ADA laws regarding service animals. Get there early to get in. This place is extremely packed all the time and I don't really get why. The inside is loud. The outside seating area is fine, no view other than the highway, but it is nice to be outside I guess. Pros: Excellent vodka martini. Fast and attentive service. My piece of salmon was excellently cooked. BUT... Cons: Sauce on both our meals (roasted salmon and lemon chicken) was really bad. Flavorless. Reminded me of just flour and water. The lemon chicken was dry and lacked lemon flavor and no capers to be found. We ordered the crunch salmon roll which was...fine? Not sure I would get more adventurous than that with the sushi. Beware if you have food allergies!!! My daughter ate there, notified waitress of her egg allergy, asked to confirm the bean burger and bun were okay. She was told they did not contain egg. She ate about 1/2 the meal when she noticed a reaction starting. After leaving, reaction intensified. She called to ask again, was put on hold and gave up after 15 minutes. She luckily had her epi pen but that only relieves some of the symptoms. We both emailed following day to notify manager/owner of incident. 5 days later - no response! Very disappointing. Having worked in the restaurant industry I rarely feel strong enough to write a disappointing review but with the experience it feels warranted. Restaurant industry is all about customer service and presentation which the Cove is lacking on both ends. We brought family who were visiting from out of town and excited to come to the Cove and sit on the deck. There was no host and we had to wander around to speak with someone since no one was visible except the bartender who seemed to consumed with a personal conversation to acknowledge other patrons besides the 6 guests sitting at the bar. After 5 minutes he was able to speak with me when I asked if there was a server outside he said yes and they should be out shortly so I joined my group outside. Another 10 minutes passed by while a busser came in and out from inside several times. When the server eventually came by we were immediately asked as what we would like to drink would have been great if we were at a dive bar but we needed drink menus (and food menus). Service picked up a bit after we were greeted and experience could have improved vastly except the food was subpar which continued our disappointment. The nachos tasted as if they were prepared with pre-made ingredients; generic cheese sauce, guacamole from a container, etc. The cheesesteak spring rolls were absurdly tiny and limiting in quantity for $16. They are the same cheesesteak spring rolls you can get from a Chinese restaurant for $1.00 a piece. Fish tacos lacked flavor, but a decent portion of seared Tuna. The Seafood combo was decent but the oil from the fish made the fries soggy. Wings were pretty good and crunchy but swimming in a bowl of Buffalo sauce. The best thing was the Mac and Cheese. I don't know how soon we will be going back unless it's for drinks and a bite to eat versus a full blown meal. I hope more effort is put in to ingredients and presentation of the food in the future. read more

February is a great time to come to the beach -there are few crowds but things are still open to see and do. We stopped at the Cove last night for dinner. We did have a problem to finding a door that was unlocked ( lights were on and we could see people, but doors were locked) - oh well we got in anyway and were seated for dinner. My wife ordered the fish tacos. We asked if they were spicy ( because she doesn't do spicy) and the waitress said she'd make sure they weren't. I ordered the poke bowl. The fish tacos were wonderful but had a real bite to them ( even after taking off the remulaud) . When we brought this to the attention of the waiter, he apologized and had the order remade omitting the sauce. Thanks so much for caring enough to enhance our experience. Delicious place for some lunch. Plan extra time if planning on dining here as the wait is a little long, although it is worth it. Staff was great. Our server, Jose was excellent. We had a party of 7 and came during prime lunch time and were still accommodated for. Our entire party left happy. I got a Caesar salad with chicken and Manhattan clam chowder. Both were great. Prices are a little high, but the food was good. Dining was outdoors at picnic tables. Casual place good for whole families. If times were different, we would definitely drink here indoors. Not to mention that they forgot the coleslaw, sauces and lemons. My seafood combo was over cooked and tasteless. Pizza was fair. If I could I would pull the trigger and vomit what I did manage to eat. Stick to the nachos which they forgot to add the meat to were somewhat edible. We visited on a Friday night with much hesitation after reading the less than stellar Yelp reviews. All in all we had a great time! The service was flawless - ask for Ellen, you won't be disappointed. The food was good (not phenomenal) but better than expected and certainly better than any shore "shoobie" place. Try the filet skewers - high quality meat and veggies cooked just right. Also try the cheesesteak spring roll - not greasy and served with a spicy ketchup. Management should consider putting a host stand at the entrance of the dining room closest to the bar. We watched at least four couples walk in with a look of confusion after not seeing anyone to seat them. The decor and layout is unique. Also - their house red is J Lohr Cab, which is good.
