Per the restaurant, their baby back ribs are Baltimore's best, and rated in the top 15 restaurants in MD for their crab cakes. I'm not sure if I would say their ribs are Baltimore's best. I have had comparable ribs elsewhere, but I do agree that the meat fell off the bone. It came with a choice of Sweet Original Sauce, Smokey Texas Sauce, or Sweet & Spicy Carolina Sauce. I asked for the Sweet Original and Sweet & Spicy Sauce on the side. My husband tried the Spicy sauce and loved it so much we bought a bottle to take home. They bottle it there and said it will keep for a month refrigerated. The cost for a bottle is $6.99. The crab cakes are very good and I would agree that it is one of the best in MD. My husband said there was a lot of lump crab meat and less filler. You can actually see the lumps on top of the crab cakes. The Wednesday's special is a Half Pound Colossal Jumbo Lump Crab Cake & Stable fries for $15.99. My husband got today's special and I got the Stable's Favorite, Crab Cake & Ribs and 2 sides for $26.99. For my sides, I got the baked beans and mac & cheese, both were very good. The beans were on the sweet side which I like. I thought the ribs were on the smaller side, so I'm not sure if my entree was worth paying $26.99. My husband noticed the menu said corn bread is available upon request, so I got some of those. It was just average. For dessert, we shared the chocolate lava cake which was exceptional. The cake was warm, and with each bite, warm chocolate truffle filling oozed out. The scoop of ice cream balanced out the sweetness of the chocolate. Total perfection. Our server (Toni?) was so nice and attentive considering we had multiple requests and I asked a few questions. She kept up with me. The ribs are Danish ribs... dare I say dainty. A sweet BBQ sauce... tasty but didn't really blow my socks off because of the lack of smoke.. the crab cake served with it was quite good...the classic Baltimore version with a little Old Bay in it and mustard. This place was recommended to me by a friend who used to live in Baltimore and I'm glad I came... the interior sort of reminds me of a Texas Roadhouse (lots of wood and it is kinda stable haha). $32.99 probably is in the ballpark, at that price range however I usually/ideally would like something memorable. This place is probably beloved by the locals...but they're better places in Baltimore for crab cakes... the ribs were okay but when you go deeper into the Dixie territory they're much better ones out there. Went with a friend for dinner. It was our first time here. We arrived at 6pm. Restaurant was not full but took awhile for the waitress to come over to us. We ordered our food. The food was not hot. Had to receive new mashed potatoes and the crab cake was not hot. The best thing was the cornbread. The ribs were not the best ribs. The mixed vegetables was more potato than a mixture of vegetables. I gave them four stars because when you order a salad there is an up-charge. When the salad arrived I noticed that the small black container of ranch dressing had about 2 teaspoons of dressing in it. When I asked for additional ranch, I was told that it would cost $.50 per serving, which again was extremely small. There's no way, the small serving of dressing would even cover 1/4 of the salad. The waitress, who was outstanding, said that this was a recent change and yes, they were charging 50 Cent for extra ranch dressing. This is ridiculous. So, in my annual trip to Columbia, Md., I decided to try some new restaurants and use Yelp reviews for some ideas. Corner Stable comes up 1st on the search for "burgers?" Not sure how/why the reviews are so high, but I'll start with the good and end with the bad, with most of it bad Good? Portions were adequate Food quality, ok. Waitress was friendly and attentive during a time when there were no more than a handful of other customers. Bad? Price. For a plate of turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, a small serving of green beans, and a "tiny" cup of cranberry sauce, just under $15? Too high, ESPECIALLY when the meal includes NO bread, NO roll, NO side salad, and interestingly, NO choice of sides? Uh . . you get green beans, mashed potatoes, and if you don't like that. Too bad. How about corn choice? Maybe carrots? And . . . no bread, no roll? Really? Will also add that at that price you would think, I assumed, the turkey would be the kind that is freshly carved from the breast of a freshly baked turkey. NOT! Its like one of those turkey slices you get from a "turkey roll." IN summary, too expensive, no choices, and turkey quality needs to improve. But the biggest reason for a low score is the environment/restaurant condition. As others have noted in reviews, it's just worn and dirty looking. The decor is done in dark and medium browns which add to the 'dark dirty' look. It would appear that it has never been freshened up and it is in HUGE need of it. Now, maybe management will reply "we keep it clean." Well great, even though it doesn't look like it, but no "swipe with a wet rag" will improve the dented, scarred, scratched, gouged appearance of the booth. Take a look at the picture! The condition of the booth is deplorable. As bad as anything I've ever seen. And this bad condition is not really managements fault? Somewhere, there is an owner of this restaurant who REALLY doesn't care that the booths are scarred, dented, gouged, and pure ghetto. Here's the problem owner: if you have NO interest in maintaining appearances in the restaurant, who would have confidence in the quality of your food? the cleanliness of your preparation? etc., etc., etc., . . . Most people seem to give the place high marks, but, I would think a little of the high prices you're paying could go to . . oh . . .. I don't know . . . maybe sprucing this place up some. I was in the area and after discovering The Corner Stable had lump crab cakes I ordered takeout from The Corner Stable before driving home to Virginia. I ordered their "Crab Cake Dinner" which is described as "A broiled half pound crab cake made with colossal and jumbo lump crab meat and a blend of our chef's special seasonings." All of their dinners come with two sides (Baked Beans, Broccoli, Cole Slaw, Green Beans, Hot Cinnamon Apples, Long Grain Wild Rice, Macaroni & Cheese, Mashed Potatoes, Stable Fries) so I chose fries and macaroni and cheese for my two sides. When I arrived I asked for extra tartar sauce (which is a very important part of my crab cake experience so I was hoping their tartar sauce was good). They were very friendly and quickly rang me up and grabbed extra tartar sauce for me. I was very hungry so I decided to taste everything before driving home to Virginia and was AMAZED at how delicious everything was. Their crab cake was absolutely delicious, perfect in texture and taste (I was literally oohing and awwing out loud to myself in my car). Their tartar sauce was excellent and so were the fries and mac n cheese. I am rarely in that neck of the woods but did demand that my sister take a detour on our way home from visiting our grandmothers' grave in Baltimore so I could pick up another crab cake dinner. This was our 2nd night in the Baltimore area and we were trying to find somewhere to get good crab cakes. We were staying at the BWI airport Marriott in Linthicum Heights. We almost went to G & M because it was close by, but my husband he didn't really want to go there. There was a long wait there and my husband said it didn't look good. We both ordered a beer and they were out of the beer my husband wanted. I got the combo of ribs and crab cakes and the husband got the ribs and chicken combo. The waitress seemed to kind of have an attitude and looked at me like I had 2 heads when I asked questions about the menu. The food came out super fast, as in the food was already prepared fast like 5 minutes or less fast. We had our food and we didn't even have our drinks yet. The mac and cheese that came with our meal tasted like plastic like instant mac and cheese. The ribs were very tender and fell apart, but the sauce was very salty and they tasted like they were sitting around for awhile. The crab cakes look amazing in the photos I saw online, but they weren't as good as they look. They did have the big lumps and not much filler which I like, but they were dry and bland. This restaurant is located in the Kings Contrivance Village Center in Columbia, MD. Their signature dishes are crabcakes and ribs, and in fairness, I did not order either of those when I went there for lunch recently with three friends. It's more or less a typical shopping center location, and there's nothing extraordinary about the ambiance inside. Service was prompt and efficient throughout the meal. Being a lover and strict judge of Maryland crab soup, I always test it at any restaurant I go to where it's on the menu. This version was somewhere in the mid-range of quality, maybe slightly better than average. The shrimp salad sandwich I had was okay, but definitely could have used more Old Bay seasoning (which was advertised on the menu). The most disappointing thing in the order were the fries that came with the sandwich. They were limp and almost greasy tasting, and extra ketchup didn't help. I only ate about a third of them. Oddly, probably the best thing I had was two glasses of unsweetened iced tea with lime. As this restaurant is over 15 miles from my residence, I would probably make no special effort to return to it. read more

Located in Columbia, in the I believe King's Contrivance Shopping Center, it is located on the opposite side of the Harris Teeter. The place is nicely sized and it wasn't overly crowded. Seems to be like a barbecue joint, so I was a wee bit surprised with the seafood option. The dinner begins with warm cornbread, this reminded me of cake. It was crazy sweet, if you dig this sort of thing. Oh, I dug. I got the crab cake and fried shrimp platter, which came with two sides. I also tried the ribs with the Carolina style barbecue sauce, the grilled shrimp and the macaroni and cheese. First things, the portion was pretty large. Large enough that I had half a crab cake and several shrimp to satiate my palate the next day....yes! The crab cake was of a nice size, and the shrimp didn't look like bait. Based on the appearance the crab cake looked like it had jumbo lumps and virtually no filler. Ah ha! Once you cut into that sucker the lumps got smaller and the filler became apparent. Who cares, it still tasted hella good, can't say that it really needed anything added to it. The fried shrimp on appearance looked like they may have been over fried, but nah, once you bit into those suckers, just blame perfection. Look a potato is a potato, sour cream and butter jazzed it up and the broccoli was clearly an after thought as it lacked any seasoning at all. Meh. I tried the broham's ribs, I thought they were slightly overdone, and wee bit tough, can't say that I was too thrilled about the barbecue sauce either. My dad said his ribs were great and uber tender, so I wonder if thee broham got a bad batch.... Mom's grilled shrimp were awesome sauce and the mac and cheese was pretty dang good. Upon entering no one was at the Hostess Stand to greet us, we waited several minutes until a Lady came and seated us. That same Lady said, she would also be our Waitress because she just came on duty. She never gave us her name but I found out it was Laura, when I saw the receipt. The food was average. We got the Crab Dip which didn't have any Crabmeat in it and the a half pound of Steamed Shrimp, the Shrimp was good. I got the Crab Cake with Half Rack of Baby Back Ribs with French Fries and Cole Slaw. The Crab Cake was meaty and good, the Baby Backs were falling off the bone but didn't have a Smokey flavor, which was the description on the Menu, the Fries ok and the Cole Slaw was dry. We also got the Ribs and Giant Fried Chicken Breast with Mac n Cheese and Cinnamon Apples. The Chicken was tasty, the Ribs the same, Mac n cheese bland and the Apples ok. As far as the interior, it needs a major update. The Ceiling tiles are stained and the walls look uneven and worn. Don't think I'll be coming back to this location. Before I put in my review I must let you know that I have never had a true crabcake. Salmoncakes, sure, homemade and all that. In the south, no less. So, keep that in mind. We opted to order the crabcake (duh) and then the rest of items we ordered from the appetizer to get a little taste of a variety of things... and spare the 'ol pocketbook. I settled on the wings, and the chicken sliders and the crab balls. It took the order about 15 minutes to get to us, and it all came at the same time, which was cool with us. The atmosphere of this place was nice... CLEAN, bright, and comfy. The Orioles game was playing in the background, nice and low tones conversations wafting through the air. Oh yeah, before we got our order, we got something special... Corn Bread! Me being a southern boy, they had a high-a$$ bar to reach to impress me.... consider bar reached! Danggit the corn bread was light, airy, tasted almost as good as grandma's!! How'd they do that?! So if the corn bread was any indication, this was gonna be a great meal. My wife got the crabcake and what I saw before me was nothing like I had envisioned. Actual chunks of crabmeat crammed together. held together by some miracle tasty sauce that kept it all together. Old Bay seasoning was the standard (duh)..... on everything it seems. I think the Maryland flag has some orange color in it... now I know what it represents! We got fries to come with our order... FRESH real fries. Not some reconstituted, potato flaked BS like the fast food joints have, but like real 5-guys like fries! And dusted with a light kiss of Old Bay. The wings were about standard fare, they needed to be more seasoned to really stand out. But one cool things about the wings were the drummetts... and what I mean is you just get the little drumstick type wings and not the second, 2-boned wing that most other places give you. The wings were meaty too. My only complaint was it was not seasoned enough... a little salt and pepper goes a long way. Heck, maybe even a little Old Bay! lol The crab balls were small, about the size of your thumb... maybe two mouthfulls if you have a little mouth. But they drove the point home in miniature, much like the crabcake did in its full size. They were tasty too... but fair warning, they are very lightly seasoned... so if you eat them with the cocktail sauce, the cocktail sauce will overpower the light, delicate season of the cake/balls. And then there were the chicken sliders. FAIL. Moistless, dry, arid. And seasonless. Nowhere near my favorite and I was sure to let our waiter know. He took it to the manager and they kindly deducted it from my bill, so although I did not like the sliders, I liked the quick response and resolution to the issue. Definitely a PLUS in the customer service department. SO all in all, my favorite was the fries and wings, my wifes' was the crabcake/crabball, we both enjoyed the fries (and large portions too by the way), but we'd skip the chick sliders in the future. Maybe next time I'll try the burger sliders, and give their "Maryland's Best" ribs a go too! Good customer service, good atmosphere too. Definitely will be coming back! A bunch of colleagues wanted a place to go out to and one of them suggested this place. I wasn't sure why because when I walked in through the main entrance, it seemed like a family restaurant with a small bar. When the last colleague showed up, he said we needed to go to the back where the real bar is. We went to another room with a dining area with a better bar and it was empty. It was nice because there was six of us and we had the room all to ourselves with a server. My colleagues were excited about the idea of ribs and crab cakes. It was a late meal and I decided to just order something cheap and small. I ordered a reuben sandwich and it came with fries. There was a good amount of meat in the sandwiches and those of us who ordered sandwiches were full from it. Being I Columbia they have a lot of competition from other fine dining establishments but they are holding their own. I always come on lunch for what I call crab cake Wednesdays when I want to treat myself. I go while on my lunch break from work and like clockwork everyone in the office wants to place a carry out order. They are usually pretty busy but they are remarkably fast. When ever a place a order in advance it's always ready when I arrive. The staff is always friendly and polite despite dealing with a lunch rush they would wreck my nerves. The food is always consistently great and it keeps me coming back. I have been once in the evening for a get together at the bar. Drinks were priced around what you would expect from any other bar in the area. I have been trying to come back for dinner but I don't live in the area. One day I will give them a try. This is a great safe place to eat. You know the food will be good and service will be great. We went for Mothers Day this time, the no. 1 restaurant day of the year. Made a reservation, how ever the walk-ups were treated just fine. This place was humming like a well oiled machine. Even though the food took a little longer because of the packed house, every order was hot and right. 1st up fried chicken and ribs. The chicken was a giant chicken breast that was fried through well. The outside was crunchy and coated with a well seasoned batter. I would recommend the bakes beans and baked potato. 2nd was the kids plate. Cheese pizza, tater tots and Oreos. Food disappeared so you know it was good. 3rd was the Crab Cake Chesapeake. Delicious fried crab cake on shrimp salad on bun. Serves with housemade kettle chips. They were fried hard and super seasoned. Not the best chips but the sandwich was a hit. 4th was the fried shrimp and spicy bbq ribs. Ribs were falling off the bone in both cases. Well cooked. Fried shrimp were good. Finally the fried chicken salad was good sized portion. The chicken breast was the star. Overall those is a great place to eat. Check out the Wednesday crab cake specials. read more
