The Corner is a local restaurant in Troy,Alabama that sits on their small town square and is overall a good destination to head towards if you are in the mood for a good meal. My server was incredibly friendly and definitely added to my overall experience. Her name slips me, but she came to Troy from Wisconsin to play volleyball and attend college. I ended up going with one of their burgers with tater tots. The burger was very good, but the tater tots were pretty amazing. Even more amazing when my server said they were not made in house, but sourced. I really enjoyed my meal. If you're anywhere near Troy, go check out The Corner. I started with the boudin and pepper jack cheese egg rolls. They come with a homemade Alabama white sauce, and that stuff is legit. Tied the whole plate together. Then I got the PIM burger. Spicy pimento cheese, applewood smoked bacon, and bacon jam. Sounds like a lot going on, but they balanced it right. Every bite was solid. Got their shortly after they opened for Sunday brunch and sat the bar, it was quiet initially, but the energy picked as more people arrived. Generally the vibes are great, especially on Saturday, and Troy University has an athletic event and the games are on the tv's. Worst service I've had at a restaurant in a long time. Had to repeatedly ask for lemon, ketchup, sauce, etc. - all of which were requested when the order was placed. Asked for again when food was FINELY served almost an hour later - third time we got it. Drinks were never topped off. Kitchen was backed up and I get that - but no excuse for such bad service. The salt and pepper on the table should have been our first clue‍. It was gross! There were seven in our party. Our meals didn't come out together. At least 30 minutes from the time the first plate came out until the last at our table finally got their food. We will NOT be going back. Clearly the owner isn't on hand. The service of our waiter was very polite and the staff was awesome, but the food was un-edible. Me and a group of my friends attended this place with the hope of getting a good dinner before we went home for Christmas break, but this was short lived. The chicken was incredible salty to where I had to get different food after to help cleanse my tongue. The portions are very small for the price, as I paid $20 for a meal that felt like an appetizer. Such a cool little spot in the heart of downtown Troy. We were driving to 30-A from Atlanta and picked this place out to stop for lunch. Best. Decision. Ever. Paula was super personable and took great care of us. Husband, who gets a burger almost everywhere we don't go regularly, got the Pim burger and groaned about how amazing it was til the very last bite. I had the Square Sandwich, a barbecue sandwich on flatbread with melted cheese and Alabama sauce, which was delicious. The upgraded side of onion rings stole the show for me, though: hand-battered and fried to golden perfection. Older teen daughter had the buffalo chicken wrap, which she snarfed down with abandon. Young teen daughter had a plain Trojan burger and ate every bite. They have an incredibly well-stocked bar; Paula makes a scrumptious margarita if you're so inclined. We would return in a heartbeat.
