My wife and I have been in Brunswick for a couple weeks and we have been here twice. The raw oysters are great . We sat at the bar and the bartender was awesome. Full menu at the bar and our seafood was very fresh and tasty . read more

This laid back place is one of my favorites here in rural Alabama. My wife and I come here often for the good food, great service and reasonable prices. On Saturday I did something I never do, I went by myself since my wife is visiting the granddaughters in California. I had the Blackened Mahi Mahi Tacos with Red Beans N Rice and a Yuengling. As usual it was delicious and TT&L with a generous tip was just short of $25 bucks. You just can't beat that especially since I spent about $12 (no drink) at a fast food joint a few days ago. read more

Our large party of 12 enjoyed dinner here last Friday after a Troy volleyball game. Service was great, and they were very accommodating in setting up a table for all of us. Half Shell is a sports bar, with lots of TV's and many beer options. The menu has lots of variety - burgers, sandwiches, tacos, appetizers, etc. We started with some potato skins, which looked scrumptious. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and substituted honey mustard for mayo, as recommended by a couple of Troy students. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals, and it was a fun experience. read more

Food was great and our server was very attentive. It was Valentine's weekend and the wait was not very long.

I'll start by saying I live on the gulf so I'm very picky about seafood. We stopped on our way to Birmingham for a quick bite. I'd passed by before and was curious about the food quality. I ordered the fried shrimp platter with slaw and fries with a Michelob Ultra on tap. The beer was COLD. I wouldn't call it a platter but more of a plate. Don't get me wrong, it's more than enough food but a platter is something you should have leftovers from. The shrimp were fresh and battered properly. The slaw was really good, fries were not greasy and very hot and fresh. Hush puppies were fair for frozen. The wife ordered the fish and shrimp basket. Basically a platter minus one side. (Sorry no pic). She liked it and she's very picky about her fish. I'd recommend it and we will probably stop by next time we pass through. read more

We made our first visit last night and it was very good. Nice ambiance, it is in a strip mall but the interior is very much like a dive bar, just cleaner. The service was very good throughout, friendly hostesses and great servers. Everyone seemed to pitch in too, the staff seemed to work well as a team with the focus on service. The food was very good as well. I had a Mahi sandwich and my wife had Mahi tacos, both were great. The onion rings looked great, I will definitely go back to try an order. read more

The food at half shell is really good and the staff are like really nice so I am gonna say I rate this restaurant a 4

Walked in and saw the health score. 86!!!! Turned and left from the same door I arrived in. Only 3... low 90 plus scores since 2021. Clean this nasty ass place up! read more

We stopped by after leaving a track meet in Enterprise. Small sports bar. Lots of tv's to catch any big sporting event going on. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Kids got the cheeseburger and fries and the grilled cheese and chips. Kids loved both. I had the oysters Keith and my wife had the oyster sampler with a half dozen raw. Everything was well prepared and tasted great. The spinach stuffed oysters were by far the best. Next time we will both be going with a dozen of those. The others were all good as well the spinach ones really stood out though. The Keith was good as well. Comes with a half dozen and I added a side of coleslaw which was good too. I'd recommend a stop. read more

Food was bleh, service was terrible. Don't ask for a beer or cocktail menu. Don't expect any food to come out at the same time and be warm. What a disappointment read more

Garden salad fresh! Steamed scallops were perfectly cooked...small, but flavorful. Paired with steamed broccoli and carrots. $15 I'm full and satisfied so not overpriced. Service was good with waitress checking on me several times throughout meal. The oysters looked good being served around me. Will come back when Im in town again. read more

Great food, good sports cafe atmosphere, and decent prices. The seafood is always fresh and the adult beverages are always cold. The service is pleasant and quick. The only drawback is that there is always a wait. If you go on a Friday or Saturday night, you are about guaranteed a wait. But it is worth the wait. read more

Ordered Shrimp gumbo. So thick should have been called Jambalaya. Where were the shrimp? Salad was good. Need a broader beer selection. I'm not from here so maybe it's good if you have never left Troy. read more

We had raw oysters, popcorn shrimp, gumbo and fried crab claws. The food was fresh and cooked well. Service was a little slow but not bad for going early. Definitely a good local find. We were just passing through. read more

Waitress was wonderful! Raw oysters were awesome! Shrimp and scallop skewers were over spiced and underwhelming but alright. read more

Good variety of food. Reasonable pricing. Very friendly staff. Conveniently located with ample parking.

The best French dip sandwich I've ever had. Tried to get back in the kitchen for their onion ring recipe, but they were busy. Onion rings legit. Local dood ownership. Great long time local spot. read more

If I ever go out to eat with friends in Troy, we usually go to Half Shell. The environment is welcoming and can be compared to a man cave. Their bacon wrapped shrimp is pretty good, but their shrimp and okra gumbo is fantastic! Good quality food and fair prices. read more

The best fried pickles I have ever eaten. Ever. French fries had some kind of seasoning that was tasty as well and the grilled chicken was perfectly cooked My friend had oysters and crawfish which she also declared delicious read more

Food is good. Service is hit or miss a lot of times. Visit when it's outside of lunch and dinner hours!

Great fresh food and cold beer. Good service. Sports bar kind of vibe. Perfect for a casual lunch or dinner.

The service, drinks, and snapper sandwich were really good. The fried shrooms were outstanding. The only downside was small servings of shrooms and the oyster Poboy. I had only one oyster on each side of the poboy. Seriously, only a total of two oysters on the entire sandwich, I didn't complain but probably should have. read more

Pleasantly surprised. I came here while in Troy visiting my dog's breeder. She recommended half Shell to us. The outside is unassuming without much detail or decor. Inside: standard bar Food: fried pickles were amazing Burger was pretty good Mahi Sandwich was delicious! Also: try the coleslaw it's made in house! read more

This is probably my go to restaurant for quality seafood when I'm in town! The atmosphere is very laid back , perfect for relaxing. The service was great, fast and very helpful. Our server came to our table and promptly took our orders. We started out with the 1/3 crab claws for appletizers, which in my opinion I felt could have been bigger . The claws was very tasty and seasond well you can either grab them steamed or fried , which we went for the steamed. For the main dish I got the trio baked oysters with a side of slaw , very very tasty!. On the other hand my girlfriend enjoyed the bbq shrimp wrapped in bacon with a side of onion rings (highly recommend) and a baked potato! She said it was the best shrimp she's ever had , I can agree as well? read more

Just got back from my birthday dinner and it was horrible. I got the ribeye steak sandwich and it was unlike any I had eaten there many times before. It was chopped up super thin and was so overseasoned all you could taste was salt. When I sent it back a manager came to ask why and when I told her she proceeded to tell me the chef had chopped up the leftover ribeye from Friday Night! I can't believe they served me 3 day old steak. I'll NEVER make tbe mistake of eating at the Half Shell again. They have really gone down hill.. the hushpuppies weren't enen good. Absolutely horrible read more

The food and service at this establishment was absolutely superb! In fact two employees helped me out tremendously at my visit here! I believe their names were Atley and Olivia! They were super helpful to me and my mother-in-law who has dementia. They were very patient and understanding with her! We will most definitely be back because of those wonderful young women! read more

Phenomenal every time. A wide selection to choose from, great people, and great waiter/waitress staff.

A great spot to grab a healthy meal. I had the grilled salmon with wild rice and steamed vegetables. It was decent. My daughter had the Cobb salad and it looked really good. Good prices and friendly staff. read more

There's not a better seafood restaurant within 100 miles; literally. The onion rings are biblical and the crab claws the largest I've ever had. Good draft beer selection, several craft beers. The fried shrimp are perfectly fried and fresh and sweet and from the Gulf. The food is exceptional, however it is the service that really makes this restaurant stand out. The service staff are largely college age girls likely from local Troy University, but they are absolutely on point. You don't have to wait for your server to attend to you, any one of them will be glad to help you. The speed of the service and delivery of your food is beyond compare. Do yourself a favor, and stop by. You'll not regret it. read more

OMG is this food great!!! Busy so had a 15 minute wait but once seated waited on nothing. Fast service and attentive wait staff surpassed only by the food. Grilled Scallops and Shrimp were off the chart good with just the right amount of seasoning. Homemade onion rings were spectacular. If I lived in this area it would be a weekly stop.
