Decided to stop in at the Old Barn this evening. We were not disappointed! As you pull up you're greeted by a rustic authentic barn! The front porch is very reminiscent of days of old. Upon entering you are greeted by friendly staff. The ambiance is rustic and peaceful. The food was on point as well! I had the steak and shrimp and my wife had 1/2 order of grilled shrimp. Boudin egg rolls was our appetizer. 10/10 would recommend to everyone. Just a few minutes out of Troy, it's worth the venture out here to enjoy some great food! read more

If you're looking for homemade, good comfort food this is a great place to go. I have never had turnips before but they were excellent here. Waitress was a sweetheart but they did run out of 2 of the 3 desserts on the menu. Ambiance was definitely "old barn" style so it fit the name well. The chicken was good too. read more

I had high hopes for this place and had been wanting to go for some time but that changed quick. When we walked in the door we just stood there waiting to be seated as the sign on the door said, but nobody acknowledged us standing there for a few minutes. After awhile we were seated and then we waited. Sometime later we finally ordered drinks. We both ordered steak but neither of us ate it. The steak was dry with flavor other then the char. The tea was good but never got asked for a refill. For 35 bucks a plate I couldn't believe this is what the food and service was like. The old barn restaurant is considered one of the best steakhouse in Alabama. This is located in the middle of nowhere if you're from the city and use to the hustle and bustle of the city life. I actually like where this is located. They were nothing around this area, and you were actually eating inside a barnhouse. My parents like to come here to eat steak. And my mom actually thinks that the steak here could rival her own, but it doesn't compare. Sitting here could take up to one hour, and they do not take any reservations here. And on a busy night it can take up to another hour, just to get your food. This place can get very busy very fast. The goal here is to make sure that you come as early as possible. My parents hate waiting for food, but they do not mind waiting for steak here. When we came, there was no wait. Just keep in mind if you want to go at a busy time or day. If I'm just looking at price and comparing them, it's not that much different than other steakhouse. I've paid for way more for a steak and it does not taste as good as here. The quality here surpass the steaks in the surround area. When we are finally seated, we are handed the menu and they gave us complementary cheesy biscuits. Everyone ordered a steak, obviously. My dad got the 28 ounce ribeye steak, I split a 28 ounce ribeye steak with my friend and my mom got the 8 ounce ribeye steak. Everyone got a side order of salad, and I got the Italian dressing. It was kind of strange that my Italian dressing was actually a little salty. And my mom and my friend agreed with me. They gave us an extra plate, because my friend and I was splitting and 28 ounce steak. One thing that you do miss when you are splitting the steak, is the fact that all the sauce from the steak is on the other plate. But luckily, my dad was in front of me, and let me get some of the sauce. What's nice about this day, is the fact that you don't need any A1 or 57 steak sauce. They marinate their meat very well. The restaurant here is lively, and every time I've been here it's never been even half empty. I believe I read somewhere on the menu, that there's a live band on Thursdays. It is a two-story building, but we've never been to the upstairs floor. The sweet tea sweet. And the waitresses are very nice. Despite all the people in the restaurant, and how crowded it can get, they never fail to make sure that my drink is filled. I can honestly say, that this is one the best steakhouse I've ever been to. And it almost makes me mad how much are used to pay at other places in the surrounding area for less quality. Even if you never heard of Goshen, Alabama, you really need to find this place. Because there is nothing else like it in the surrounding areas of Troy. read more

This place had been our list for awhile. Eh. Check the box. I'll start with the pros: Arrived at 6pm on a Saturday. Fairly busy. Seated right away. Server was attentive and knew the menu. Onion ring app came out in a reasonable time. Salad as well. Very nice salad. Sweet tea was good. Cons: The cheese biscuits were ok. Batter over mixed so more like a cookie. What do you want for free. Hubby had a steak and shrimp. He is particular. Ordered medium steak. Alittle thin, but cooked and flavored well. Shrimp was nicely battered, but a bit over cooked. I had grilled chicken fingers. Bland and dry. Served on top of tasteless white rice. Did not need the rice. Chicken needed some sort of flavorful sauce to add moisture. The loaded baked potato was fine. Except for the bacon. WAY over cooked. Have you ever had over cooked cracklin's? This was our first time. Likely not to give it a second shot. read more

Arrived at 6:20pm with my wife on a Friday night and only waited 5 minutes for a table. The waitress brought us 2 cheese biscuits with butter. The waitress was nice and took our order after a few minutes. We both ordered house salad as one of our sides. It was a nice combo of iceberg lettuce, carrots, tomatoes, cucumber, and croutons with ranch dressing. Our meals arrived a few minutes after our salads were finished. My wife chose the 8 oz ribeye steak with baked potato and I chose the 8 oz ribeye with fried shrimp. The 6 shrimp were large and delicious. The ribeye was surrounded by a Dale's type sauce. Most of the steak was tender, but the last third was slightly chewy. The steak was large, but thin. It had a very good flavor. I had the grilled potatoes as my second side and they were tasty as was my wife's baked potatoes. The restaurant was nice and the decor was old pics and local interest items. read more

On the night that we went there were just a few people there. Red flag. Ordered a steak medium rare received a very thin steak that took me hour to chew. Needless to say it way overcooked and tough. Wanted a loaded bake potato only to learn that much everything was out of stock. Received baked potato and butter. But charge for a loaded potato. We were so disappointed that we just paid bill and left not to return. This was a good restaurant at one time. Don't know what happened. Are you under new management??? Restaurants don't go down this fast. Now will not return to see if there us any improvement. Our waiter was nice and so sorry things weren't better for us. Felt sorry for him. read more

Hidden gem in the country. We had the 14 oz ribeye steak and grilled quail. The steak was one of the best steaks I've ever had. I always ask for steak sauce with steak, but didn't need it. The flavor of the steak was superb and the grilled quail was yummy too. We also had the hamburger steak with onion gravy and grilled potatoes. It was awesome as well. I loved the poppy seed dressing on my salad which was fresh and substantial. The delicious meal ended with a piece of peanut butter pie which was better than the one I make at home. This was my 3rd time going there. The first two times were ok... but this time was less than stellar. It took over an hour to get the food and two of the three of our meals were cold. Marsha was our waitress and she was so sweet and apologetic. But, I think it's important that restaurants do what they can to not cause the servers to have to apologize for their getting behind. The first two times were WAY busier than tonight so they shouldn't have been that backed up. ‍ Just know... the quail takes longer so order ahead or tell them to bring the rest out first. read more

Fab food, great atmosphere, superb service. We love this place! We have had the quail and were pleased. It is easy to take our grandchildren with us. The building itself is in an old barn that is rustic and charming. There is ample parking and the scenery includes a lovely pond across the road. A bit of a drive from our place but definitely worth it. read more

Steak was OK, it had too much sauce on it though, quail was very good, fried shrimp, scallops and fish were very good. The desserts were very disappointing. The cheesecake was a slice, no, a sliver. The MS mud cake thing was nothing more than a brownie with marshmallows and fudge sauce. There aren't very many restaurants in the area so options are limited, for that reason we will be coming back to give it another try. Menu is huge so there are a lot of choices. read more

Great dinner on a Saturday night ! We drove from spending a day at Troy University watching baseball and cleaning a sorority house. Our group tried the quail, the catfish, a hamburger and chicken strips. All was good! We were visiting friends in Andalusia and they told us that we just had to go to The Old Barn Restaurant for steaks. Living in the Northern Virginia area, the bar is pretty high for steaks but we were not disappointed. The steaks and everything else we had was FABULOUS! Amy and her staff make everyone feel like family with their great bubbly personalities and fast service. It's well worth the drive to eat at this unique and friendly establishment - for us it's 900 miles and we can't wait to eat there again! read more
